[Kyrielle's POV]
(20 minutes later....)
I was right, there were indeed trouble.... When I arrive at the training ground, the stage had a boy who seems to be the Master of Ceremony standing on it, a sign that they are prepared to do something grandiose.
Countless people peeked here through the school's window as they had their breakfast, as if they are expecting a show or something.
Rumours will spread like wildfire around this school.... Gossips of such an important person as Diana, the Head of Security Ensurers talking to me has already made it's way over the entire school.
Junior kids around the school are hungry for dramas and fights, that's why there is no doubt about it.... this is a setup for a duel.
"....You're late." Said the girl, with a stern voice as usual.
"Sorry, I had to use the restroom and it was packed at this time period."
"Whatever, what's important is that you showed up."
"Let's not waste time talking about pointless things, what do you want with me, Diana?"
"I'll put it simply, the President and I want you to join the Student Council."
"I refuse."
"Without any consideration at all? For what reason do you refuse?"
"No particular reason other than it being a pain to do so. I had just made it back to this city a month ago and I wanted to take my final year easy. I'm tired, and I just want to rest."
"I see... that is a respectable reason."
"Then consider your job offer declined, farewell-"
"Wait a moment."
"What is it?"
She took out a magic mic from her back and loudly proclaimed to the entire school.
"I as the Head of Security Ensurers, Diana Esbon will challenge you to a duel! If I win, I want you to join the Student Council again."
"Yeah!!!" (?x) Hearing those words out of her loud mouth, the entire school cheered on loudly.
"Tsk..." She deliberately attracted attention to me to prevent me from rejecting the duel.... She's smart.
But I have been itching for a fight recently as well.... In fact, I actually wanted to try out newer magic techniques and tricks that I've developed during my free time, this is just perfect.
She put the mic away from her mouth....
"Now you can't reject my duel or else you'll be branded as a coward and be hated by everyone."
"Huh, I guess I can't underestimate a Security Ensurer even if they are my junior.... Give me the mic."
I took the mic from her hand and put the mic in front of my mouth....
"Alright, I'll take you up on this duel but on one condition.... If I win, I want you to issue an apology for being so rude, and I want you to do that on stage the next morning assembly. Is that fine for you?"
"Very well."
"Then it is settled. Some of you may know me from back when I was the President, but right now I'm far stronger than back then.... You are walking into a fight that you can't win, Diana."
"Yeah!!!" (?x) I handed the mic back to her as the crowd of kids cheered on.
"I knew I wouldn't be able to beat you....but I'm desperate enough to try."
"I see.... I don't know the details and I'd certainly like to know more but I'll gladly ask once I won, about why you are so desperate."
"Thank you... But I'm not weak myself either."
"We'll see."

(10:55 a.m.)
The Master of Ceremony announced into the mic like a wrestling commentator.
"Blah blah blah Kyrielle Buffet, the Fire Genius Ex-Student Council President vs Diana Esbon, the Trickster!"
"Yeah!!!" (?x)
"Now, how will the fight turn out? Will Kyrielle be able to deal with Diana's unusual techniques? And will Diana be able to handle Kyrielle's unknown attacks? For now we will only know in this upcoming battle...."
"Yeah!!!" (?x)
If I want to, I can actually just charge up a medium sized Forbidden Sun and blast her along with the entire school, and end it within a few seconds. But I'm not going to go all out, because it'd be boring and pointless.
For this fight, I only have one intention; It's to test new techniques that I've came up with using Blaze Edges! It's a new fighting style that I developed myself by reflecting upon my past battles....
If this style is a success, then I will no longer need to use Forbidden Suns or Incinerations to destroy my enemies unless I really needed such firepower. I will also not need to use other pointless spells anymore like Mana Bullet or Earth Spear, even though those are useful on their own....
"Now, the duel will commence in-"
For now, I don't have any names for this style... But I do have names for the techniques that I'm about to use.
"3, 2, 1...."
I have many techniques to test out, but she should be a good enough opponent for me to use them on, right?
"Zero, start!"
Blaze Edges!
"What is that magic?! It's some sort of magic that spawns four swords which floats in place behind her shoulders!" What is this a wrestling match or something? Can this MC just shut up?
"Let us begin.... Diana!"
'Thud!' I kicked off the ground and sprinted towards her.... She instantly fired back at me.
"Shotgun Pebble!" A blue crest appears in front of her hand... She is capable of chantlessly casting Earth magic.
'Bang!' Countless pebbles shot out of her like a shotgun, it's difficult to dodge all of them!
I jumped to the sides and tried to evade the attack, but there is just too many pebbles. I raised my arm to cover my face and many of the pebbles still hit me, yet it didn't do much damage at all because I'm not close enough.
"Shotgun Pebble!" 'Bang!'
Again? But this time I have a counter for it, this is the first technique that I wanted to try out as well.
"Shredder!"
'Fwuo!' With the fire sword in my hand, I let go of the sword and made it spin in place as it it was an electric fan's rotor.
'Thud!' All of the pebbles that hit the sword was deflected or incinerated by my Shredder, this move is a great defensive move.
"Blaze Edges, go!" 'Bang!' (3x)
I fired the rest of the blaze edges towards her in a fan shape to prevent her from dodging, but she immediately jumped up to the air and avoided my attacks.
Immediately as she jumps, she chanted again. "Earth Wall!"
I jumped up to the air just like her to dodge the attack that was right below me.... I know this is a bad move since I can't jump high enough.
"Fool!"
'Thump!' The wall sprung up from the ground, and is just about to hit me. I knew this all already, I just wanted to try out my second technique with the Blaze Edges.
Air Jump.
'Thud!' I controlled my final Blaze Edge to float beneath my leg, and kicked off of it to jump twice.
And as always the MC freaked out over it. "What the hell?! She can jump mid air!"
Diana landed on the ground before I did, and I could see that she was preparing for another spell to try to hit me as I drop down.
"Rock Sling!" A large spear shaped rock flew out of her magic crest, aiming towards me as it shoots out.
"Thruster Flight!" 'Bwuom!' I easily dodged that when I suddenly accelerated mid air.
'Fwuom!' I took to the air, flying around the entire arena in a big circle as I spawned two more Blaze Edges on each of my arm.
"Take this!" I lowered myself to the ground and flew right up to her.
'Slash!' With a swing, I slashed at her as I flew past. She rolled to the sides and barely avoided my attack....
I fired my thrusters again and flew in a big circle, circling back to her and swung at her again with my Blaze Edges as I flew past. 'Slash!'
This time my attack hits dead center on Diana's face, the barrier should have activated there so it's my victory-
'Thump!' An earth wall suddenly sprung up right in front of me.
"Woah wait wait!!!" Thruster Brake!
'Thump!' I was barely able to slow down until I'm in a safe speed before I slammed into the wall.
As I dropped down to the ground, I turned around and flung the two Blaze Edges at Diana who's behind me.
"Round Trip!" The Blaze Edges spun rapidly as they flew at Diana like boomerangs.
"Rock Sling!" But she quickly fired out her own attacks aiming at my Blaze Edges and intercepting them. 'Bang!' (2x)
So she's capable of Two-Fold Casting and Chantless Casting huh?... She is strong to hold up against me, even if I'm holding back.
"I guess flying in such a small space is like suicide huh?"
"What an incredible fight! Kyrielle Buffet is using just a few spells, but she used them so creatively that even I'm dumbfounded! It's like her magic control and creativity is on an entirely different level than the rest of us!"
"Ohh!!!" (?x)
"Hmpt!" I jumped off the ground and landed on my feet, then I quickly dusted off my new adorable skirt to prevent any stains on it. 'Pat pat.'
"You're not half bad, I see that you used an illusion magic just now to trick me into believing that I've hit you... I've never met anyone who uses illusions in a fight, you are the first one."
Unlike me, Diana was already out of breath. "Hah... Hah... How are you so powerful...."
"I have far more experience than you do. Don't get too cocky just because you've lasted this long...."
Just now, she was able to counter all of my moves whenever I try to rush her blindly without a plan....
What if I pressure her into a corner instead of trying to chase her down? Wouldn't that work better with my new style of combat as well as conserve my energy and let her be the one to run out of stamina first?
Blaze Edges, Spiral Edge.
'Bwuom!' (3x) With a fire greatsword in hand, I spawned three more Blaze Edges and surrounded myself with them. I'm making the fire swords float and spin around my body like a chopper, this is the second technique that I wanted to try out.
It's a technique that grants me dominance in both close and mid range. These swords can act as shields to stop people from closing in, make people who I chase after be cut into sashimis, be fired out as projectiles when they try to escape, as well as let me kick off of them to Air Jump or Air Dash.
It's versatile use in both defense, offense and mobility is phenomenal.... It's the strongest move I have in this new style.
"What is that technique?! No one can even approach her without being cut into pieces, it looks so dangerous!"
"....Decoy." Diana spawned one more illusion right besides her in preparation to me.
"I shall show you what true power is like...." I said as I started walking towards her menacingly with the three blades spinning around my body. I don't have to blindly rush forward because with this technique, it is damn near impossible to even counter me.
Seeing me slowly approaching her, she started to jog backwards to keep her distance.
"Stone Pillar!" She yelled as a crest appears above my head. It's a spell where you drop a heavy rock directly above the opponent, a Master ranked spell.
"Useless."
'Bang!' 'Shatter!'
A single Blaze Edge was fired at the crest above me, shattering the crest. The problem with these long casting spells is that the crest can actually be destroyed if attacked before they finished casting.
I spawned another Blaze Edge to replace the one that I shot out and continued walking towards her without ever stopping.
"Tsk... Rock Sling!" 'Bang!'
'Bang!' Another Blaze Edge was fired at her rock spear, intercepting it mid air. I spawned another Blaze Edge to replace the one I fired out.
She continued going backwards but soon find her back at the arena's barrier. No where to run now.
"The two Dianas has no more room to retreat away to! She is getting more and more stressed out now as Kyrielle closes in on her, like a rat caught in a corner!"
"Urgh...! Earth-"
'Bang!' I fired another Blaze Edge at Diana before she can even cast a single spell... But the one that I hit was the decoy, who disappeared upon being attacked.
"-Wall!"
'Thud!' I kicked off the ground and dashed to the sides, before an earth wall rises up from the ground. This is the correct way to dodge Earth Wall. 'Thump!'
"Shotgun Pebble!"
"Shredder!"
I spun the Blaze Edge in my hand and once again effortlessly deflected the barrage of pebbles without even using a single Blaze Edge.
"Kyrielle's slow but calculating attacks are putting a lot of pressure on Diana! She has no way to counter attack, and every single one of her moves were countered effortlessly, Kyrielle is such a beast!"
"Where's your courage and determination to convince me just now?... I don't see any of it here!"
"Stay away from me, especially with those dangerous blades of yours!"
'Thud!' I jumped up to the air, and made one of the Blaze Edge hover behind my leg. I kicked off from the Blaze Edge to dash mid air, towards Diana.
"Yah!" 'Tank!' With my sword raised overhead, I slammed it down at her upon landing. She dashed to the sides and avoided my attack, while simultaneously chanting.
"Earth-"
'Bang!' I fired another one of my Blaze Edge at her and forced her to dash again, preventing her from finishing that spell.
'Thud!' I kicked off the floor again and made a quick dash towards Diana. I pointed my sword and thrusted it at her, but she quickly lands on her feet and dashed away once again making me miss my attack.
However.... "I've got you now!"
"!"
'Bang!' My final Blaze Edge fired out towards Diana who is still off the ground. She can't Air Jump or Air Dash like me, there's no way for her to dodge this attack while her feet is still off the ground.
'Tank!' A transparent dome barrier appeared right in front of her and deflected my Blaze Edge away. A small crack could be seen in the place where my sword hits the barrier.
"....Diana lost! It's Kyrielle's victory!"
"Ohh!!!" (?x) The entire school cheered on at my victory.
"Hah... Hah.... Hoo...." 'Thud!' Diana dropped and sat down on the ground, seemingly exhausted from our fight.
It seems that this new style is a success. I had developed a new fighting style of my own, using techniques that I've came up with by myself. All I needed to do now is just to name it.
"Phew, that was a hell of a workout after breakfast.... Are you okay?"
"Hah.... Hah.... I'm fine.... I just need... a little rest...." She says as she leaned backwards and lied on the ground. I crouched down as well to speak to her closely.
"I see. You really need to work on your stamina you know? It's very important for a mage as well."
"Hahaha.... In the end I couldn't even convince you to help us.... I'm just too weak as a security ensurer.... a total failure...."
"It's just too bad for you that I got to hone my skills in the Demon Continent, if it was the me two years ago you might've stood a chance."
"Hah... That explains it then...."
"So, who's the guy that you want me to beat?"
"...What?"
"I'm saying I'll join the Student Council anyway.... If you're this desperate, then someone must be causing a lot of trouble in school right?"
She quickly sat back up and looked at me in the eye.
"You.... Why?"
"Well, it's not like I can't relate to you.... I was a security ensurer myself and I know the troubles of dealing with delinquents, even more so when you can't beat them. Besides, I don't have anything else to do other than to join the Dance Club...."
And.... I want to help people in order to feel less guilty about the teleport incident.... but I can't tell her this.
"In that case thank you very mu-"
"Nuh ah-ah~, I'm not doing it for free. I'll take you up on that offer, but only if you will pay for the black colored blazer that I'll have to buy again. I don't want to waste my money on yet another blazer."
She bursted out into laughter as soon as she heard that. "....Bwuhahaha! That's your only request?! Hahaha you are such an unusual girl!"
Seeing her reaction, I grinned a little as well. "Hmm. I'll take that as a compliment. Now, let's get our butts off the ground and head back into the school, I'm sure we'll become the talk of the day."
I extended my arm out for her to grab onto, and then I pulled her up on her feet.
"Since I'm in the same class... do you mind if we became friends?"
Friends huh.... Come to think of it, I've never actually look at her and examined her.
She is a tall girl for her age as she's just as tall as me even though she's two years younger. She has long flowy black hair, a smooth and round face, and a pair of violet colored eyes.
She's a beautiful girl and a capable mage, and in many ways she's quite similar to myself.
"Not at all. In fact, I'm more than happy to have such a powerful person as my friend, Diana."
"I see.... Then let us head back inside, Kyrie."
"Starting on nicknames already huh? I like that."
It seems I won't be left alone in this school at all.
