(7 years after Reincarnation)
[Kyrielle's POV]
After the successful ritual to seal away the dragon inside my body, I was eligible to take part in the school as a normal children without any issues.
As for the school, I learned that it is basically just a normal middle school just like from earth. Although the cost could match the likes of prestigious academies, it nonetheless functions as what you'd expect.
With 7 month-long term each year and no summer breaks, students are expected to study for 5 years before they graduate. Once they do, they will automatically gain an Adept Mage certificate.
School starts around mid spring, it is still early spring right now so with today being the weekend, it is time to go and enroll in the school.
After some careful considerations, mom decided not to take the principal's offer of scholarship because she apparently can afford the money and so that I won't have to work for 10 years under the school.
Dad was busy today as well, so he isn't here with us. Marielle is left to be take care of by a caretaker, so it's just me and mom walking down the road now.
Just earlier before I went, mom nagged me on and on about everything.... From remembering to bring notebooks, water bottle, to even the simplest thing as having to use the toilet.... It's the one time that I felt genuinely annoyed at mom.
As a result, here I am walking down the street with mom, with a back pack that has the essential stationaries.
"So Kyrie, do you have any idea about what the school is about? What you'll do in there?"
"No."
"In that school, you'll study about magic and also make tons of friends with higher connections. Besides, you'll also get to learn about many more things that-"
She went rambling on and on about what I'll find in the school.... Well, it's not that I'm annoyed by her monologue, I actually find it kind of fun to just talk with mom like this.
Lately I haven't been able to spend time with mom or dad alone, so this seems like the perfect time to just listen and nod my head to her like the good girl that I am-
"-Kyrie, are you listening?"
"Eh?... Umm, yep."
"Sigh.... I was saying that ever since you were born, you have never even once met other kids and socialize with them. What I'm saying is that you should try and make as much friends as you can, because it's exactly what you lack right now."
"Okay. It's not like I'm not interested in having friends but it's just that I couldn't get the time to... besides, I have my hands full just dealing with Marielle's antics."
"Is that so? Anyway, we've arrived."
We arrived at the school shortly. In front of the school, I could see that there are multiple parents and childs inside who want to enroll in the school just like me. I'm not the only one here, the entire place is crowded.
"Wow... There is a lot of people here. Mom never expected this to happen."
"Eh, we can wait."
"I see. Let's get in line then shall we?"
We entered the bustling school ground, and started to head over to the counter area where a big line formed. We have to wait in line for ages just to speak with the counter lady.
"Next!"
"Hello, this is about my daughter's enrollment into the school...."
"Enrollment is it? Here, please fill out this form." The counter lady said as she hands a paper and pencil to us.
"Do you require assistance with the writing?"
"No, we can handle it."
"I see. Once you finished with the form, hold onto it and wait for the entrance exam. When the time for the exam comes, show the form to the staff member and he'll let her in."
"Understood."
"Now that you have finished, please wait over by that area, thank you for coming. Next!-"
Mom filled out the form for me, and waited patiently in the lobby until another staff came to the bustling lobby and announced-
"Attention everyone, people who wish to enroll in the academy may now get in line to prepare to take the entrance exam. For the adults, please take a seperate line from the children, thank you."
"Mom, I'll have to go now."
"Mmm. Good luck on your exam, I'm sure with Gondur's teaching it'll be a cakewalk for you."
"Haha... But I shouldn't be too arrogant, the exam might be difficult after all."
"That's true. Either way, I'll wait here in the lobby for you, come out and find me once you are done."
"Okay, goodbye mom!"
"Mmm."
Forcing a cheerful goodbye to mom, I walked up to the line where kids are lined up at and got my place there.
In this line, there are about 100 kids my age waiting. Looking besides this line, there's also about 10 adults lined up there.
I guess even the grown-ups want to attend this school huh? In the end, most of them are here for the Magic Adept Certificate. After all, that certificate opens up windows to a lot of high-wage and easy jobs.
After some time, the staff starts to let the people in. "Students are allowed to bring bags into the examination room. Notebooks and papers aren't allowed on the desk, and if students are caught cheating they'll be expelled immediately. Now, 20 of you, follow me into your classroom."
As I was among the first few kids, I was led deeper into the school. 20 of us arrived in an empty classroom where I can peek through the window and see that there are 20 desks with test paper on it.
I'm getting a bit nervous.... If I fail this test, I don't think I can enroll after all.
"Everyone, you may enter the class. Take your seats and be ready to do the test upon further notice."
All of the childrens entered the class. I also entered the class and took my seat. After a short wait, another staff headed in again.
(8:55 a.m.)
"Ahem... Attention everyone, I will begin explaining details about the test. For this test, you will have to do 150 questions within 2 hours, and during this period you will not be allowed to leave the classroom for any reasons. The test will begin exactly on 9:00 a.m., if any of you wishes to use the restroom now is the time to go."
_______________
The test began shortly after that, and lasted two hours. I finished the test within an hour and a half, and then slept the rest of the way through....
"Zzz...."
"Attention everyone, please pass up the exam paper to me alongside your registration papers."
"!... Yawn...."
Still feeling a little sleepy, I took the paper that mom had filled in for me alongside the exam pape and then handed it to the staff alongside my exam paper.
The exam wasn't hard at all compared to the exercises and questions that Gondur gives to me. Aside from Miracles Theory Test, the rest of the subjects was a piece of cake in that 150 questions exam
It seems that this test was indeed made for 7 year olds.... I'm confident that I'll score 125/150, with the remaining 25 questions being questions about miracles which I had forsaken long ago.
Once everyone was done with passing up the papers;
"Four days from today onwards, please come back to the school to check for your grades. Then, you will be able to see whether or not you are enrolled into the school.... Thank you to the students who took part in this test, I wish for the best to you all. You may leave the classroom now."
All the kids got up from their seats and headed off... And I did the same thing.
As I was about to walk over to the door and exit....
'Thud!' I bumped my face into a taller boy who was going to exit as well, and then dropped to the ground.
"Ow..." I looked up and saw a tall boy with short, brown colored slicked back hair and an annoyed face staring down at me.
"Watch where you are going, midget!"
"Hah?!" Did this brat just called me tiny?!
"That's disrespectful!"
"Hey hey you two, no fighting! Are you going to make trouble already before you were even enrolled?"
"Sorry sir." I apologized immediately.
"Hmpt." But the boy didn't say anything and just left the classroom.
"Sigh.... Kids these days...." Loathed the staff.
I got back up on my feet, and dusted away my pants.
"Umm... Are you okay?" A soft voice of a young girl could be heard to the sides.
Tsk... Mind your own business will you? I'm already annoyed with kids of this age.
"Yes I am fine, thank you." Without even looking at her, I picked my things on the ground and headed out of the classroom as well.
What a disrespectful brat that boy is.... I had forgotten that in the end I'm actually a teenager who's in the body of a 7 year old child, there's no god damn way I'm getting along with anyone in this school.
I guess I'll just have to stick to myself huh? It's not like I'll be able to get along with childrens anyway, and this is besides the fact that it sounds questionable.
But regardless, I shook my head and went out of the hall back to the lobby.
_____________
(Four days later...)
I came back here with both dad and mom to look at my grades. It should be posted on a large notice board in the lobby, alongside other kid's grades as well.
"Hmm.... Kyrie should be here in this section but I don't see your name anywhere else...."
"No way.... Did Kyrie failed?"
"What....?!" I failed?! That's impossible!
Well great.... I failed, what should I do now?
"Kyrielle...."
"....I'm okay. I got too arrogant and failed the test... it was my fault, I had wasted papa and mama's tuition money after so long."
I could almost feel my heart sink down.... I had wasted so much time and money to learning from Gondur and I still failed.
"Kyrielle.... The entrance test is for free, you shouldn't be too disappointed at yourself."
"But I still failed the test...."
"What papa is saying is that you can always try again next year. Besides, it's not like you have to join the school to become a mage... There is a lot of mage outside who has never partake in a school in the first place."
"....Is that so?"
"Mhm."
"....Thank you...."
"Don't be too hard on yourself okay, Kyrie?"
"Mmm...." This entire week has been a bad week.
"Thomas you idiot!"
"What?"
"Look at the numbers here, this poster is listed for rankings 50 to 100! There's another poster on that board which lists 1 to 49!"
"What?!" (2x)
We hurried over to the next board....
"....I found it! You are ranked no. 2, Kyrie!"
I'm ranked number two?!
"Wha..."
"You did it Kyrielle! You successfully passed!" Dad immediately kneeled down hugged me.
Isn't this guy much happier than I am?... Oh well, I guess I'll just go along with him.
"....Yes! I did it!"
"You did it! A victory kiss for daddy!"
"No, it's disgusting. Let me go now."
"Huh?... O-oh...."
As dad got a little too excited, mom continued reading the board.
"Let's see here... It says that students who passed can start attending school as a first grade 3 weeks from today. Students will also need to prepare the school uniform or else they will not be allowed entry into the school."
"Hmm... Let's go and buy Kyrielle her uniform then. Besides, I want to buy Marielle a dress as a gift as well."
"Okay, let's go then."
We exited the school and went to a tailor. The store has a fancy dress and an expensive looking suit put out on display in the window, it appears very fancy.
We opened the store's door and went inside it.
"Welcome in, how may I help you?"
Mom immediately went to talk with the staff member over the counter. "Hello, we are here to buy a school uniform-"
As mom did all the talking, dad went over to the clothes section and took a look at the selection of dresses for kids.
"Hmm...."
"Dad?"
"....Which one do you think Marie will like?"
"Well... She's a mature girl, she'll be happy with anything you gift her."
"But I'd like to choose something nicer for her... Which one of these dress do you like then? You are a girl as well, you'll understand her taste more than I do right?"
"Eh?!..." I've never wore a skirt or a dress before.... It's the line that I'm afraid that if I crossed, I'll never be able to become masculine again.
That's why... I've never even considered once which dress I'd like and how I'd want it to look.
"Umm.... I can't choose one so suddenly...."
"Just pick one that you like! Your sister should have the same likes as you do."
"Oh.... T-that one.... I'd want that dress..." I said as I pointed to a white colored, cute sundress hanging to the sides.
"This one?... Hmm, it looks good on your sister no doubt."
"Mmm. Then if you don't need anything else I'll go over to mom-"
"Wait wait, take this dress with you. Try it on at the dressing room, if you don't like it you can change it."
"Huh? But I'm not the same size as Marielle-"
"Haha, you still haven't noticed have you? I already picked one for Marielle, you just have to pick one for yourself, cute little princess!" He said with a smirk on his face, totally thinking that he just outsmarted me.
"What?!"
This guy... He tricked me to tell him what kind of dress I like.... Although he doesn't know it, he has never once considered how embarrassing it is for me to pick a dress because now I was a boy!
He made me cross the line, closer to fully becoming a girl.... Coward, there's no trusting this mischievous man, he's a full-fledged liar!
"Grr...." I must get back at him somehow!
"Hahaha, look at how embarrassed you are! You are so adorable, Kyriel-"
"Mama! Daddy is bullying me!" I said as I ran over to mom, who is still talking to the staff.
During my time with this family I learned that when in doubt, you can always use the mama card against your father. It works 90% of the time.
"Thomas! What did you do?!"
"H-huh?! Nothing! I just wanted to buy a dress for our daughter, that's all!"
"Sigh.... If you are not going to help, at least don't sabotage me while I'm busy talking to the staff."
"O-oh.... Kyrie, you little...!"
"Bleh." I stuck out my tongue at him whilst hiding behind mom.
The perks of being a kid again is that you can act really rude and be excused for it most of the time. And I'm shamelessly abusing this to mess with everyone most of the time, it's fun.
"-So as I was saying, the entire female set of Zoward's Academy's uniform is this Blue Blazer, buttoned shirt and a knee-length skirt. There's also the accessories to choose from; a red ribbon or a red tie for the neck. As for the leg, although it is not required it is recommended for girls to wear stockings over their thigh because it can keep them warm in the cold days."
"I see... Kyrie, do you prefer the ribbon or the tie?"
Back on earth, schoolgirls always prefers ribbons even though they are more of a chore to be worn because they look cuter. The choice is obvious.
"The ribbon!"
"Understood. Come with big sister into the shop, I'll take your measurements for you."
"Okay!"
"I'll come too, I want to look at my daughter in a school uniform."
Dad barged in with a lonely voice. "M-may I come in as wel-"
"Not a chance. This is for the ladies only."
"O-oh...."
Sorry dad, but mom's right. I don't want him to see me naked, after all I'm still a girl.
With the sundress that I picked, I went into the dressing area with the two.
"Take off your clothes, I'll have your measurements."
_______________
(20 minutes later....)
"Thank you for the business." The staff lady thanked us.
"Mmm. I appreciate your nice service, have a nice day." Said mom as we leave the store.
"So, did you liked your dress Kyrie?"
"....No."
"Haha, there's no need to lie to daddy, I know you like it because you picked it yourself!"
It was the first time I've put on a dress.... But I do look cute in it. Even though the empty feeling of wind blowing up between my legs makes me feel exposed, maybe wearing skirts isn't that embarrassing at all if I look cute in it.
Our long day comes to an end after we went home and I was greeted with an angry sister because big sis didn't bring her along to buy clothes.... But it seems that she liked the dress that dad had picked out for her.
