I walked down the halls during our lunch period and was texting Dawn on my phone. We always texted before but this was the first we ever really had a long conversation. As I walked down the halls, someone bumped my shoulder and I looked up then looked back at them.
"My bad, I didn't see you there." I said then noticed it was one of the jocks named Sean Knight.
He had short blonde hair with blue eyes. He didn't wear a shirt underneath his jacket and his tattoo was visible through his unzipped jacket. He wore ripped black jeans and Nikes on his feet. He had on a snapback and a few jewelry. He had his goons with him and a girl ran ahead then grabbed his arm.
"Sean! Lexie wanted me to ask you if-" She started and noticed me. She was surprised and Sean noticed her looks. "Wait, Leon?!"
"Hey, Jocelyn." I said.
Jocelyn Berloiz was a 20 year old that had black hair with blonde extensions and dark brown eyes. She had a slim build along with small breasts. She had on an ornate rhinestone black shirt with a leather jacket, shorts with fishnet stockings and black shoes.
"Holy shit! Who the hell do you think you are with this fucking makeover you got?!" Jocelyn asked, surprised.
"Well no one to you since you are dating Sean. Once again my bad for not looking where I was going. I'll get out of your way, I've got someone to meet actually." I said then walked off.
"He's been the talk of the entire campus. Even the professors have been talking about him. Not only is he smart but now he's smart and hot." One of Sean's goons said.
Sean scoffed and walked off. "Let's go. We can talk about Lexie's party later."
I made it to the cafeteria after getting my lunch and went out to the courtyard and found Dawn sitting with Brooke. I sat with them and smiled, noticing Brooke blushing.
"Sorry that I was late, I didn't mean to be so long. I ran into Jocelyn and her stupid boyfriend Sean." I said.
"Ugh, Sean." Dawn rolled her eyes and ate a french fry.
"He's gotta be one of the most unbearable people on campus. Him and his stupid goons. I can't believe Jocelyn is dating someone like him, but then again she is y'know." Brooke started.
"She's what?" I asked.
"She's a weedhead. She's addicted to that shit. I mean yeah it helps with calming down and relaxing or whatever. I mean hell I smoke from time to time, but that girl is like extremely addicted to it. Sean always buys her that shit too because he knows it's the one thing keeping her with him." Dawn said.
"Huh. Oh yeah, Lexie's party. Do you know when it is?" I asked.
"Her parties are usually held on Saturdays. Why? Are you planning to go?" Brooke asked.
"I want to be more social so this is the first step I need to take in being social." I answered. "Everyone here has always known me as the silent lone wolf who goes to the bar every Thursday."
"Yeah, but you know Sean and Jocelyn are good friends with Lexie. Sean already doesn't like you. I mean you have been letting him push you over so just being at that party will cause problems." Brooke said.
"Heh...since when have you started worrying about me?" I teased.
Brooke looked down, blushing. "I mean, it's not like that. I just don't want you getting hurt. We may not have talked much, but we are friends. New appearance or not, I still care about you." Brooke said.
"Yeah I gotcha." I chuckled.
The three of us continued to chat and eat together until the bell rang, signalling the lunch period was over. We got up and threw away our trash then we split apart to go to our next class. I walked down the hall and looked at my phone. I heard music being played then looked at the door that lead to the music studio room.
I walked into the music studio and noticed a woman with long wavy red hair that extended down to her back. She had her eyes closed as she played her guitar. She stopped playing a groaned. I closed the door and she opened her eyes then looked at me.
"Who are you and what the fuck do you want?" She said.
"Hey Lexie, it's me Leon." I said.
Lexie was a 22 year old woman who had long wavy red hair that extended down to her back and wore red eye color contacts. She had a thin and curvaceous body with medium sized breasts. She had a skull tattoo on her right hand and a tattoo on her left thigh. She wore a long sleeve black shirt that hung off her shoulders with a black thin lace tank top underneath it. She wore a black skirt with dark colored stockings and boots.
"Leon..? Mmm, oh you're the boring boy turned pretty. Sorry I barely recognized you. Yeah that was a lie, I don't recognize you anymore. Anyway, what do you want? Why are you here?" Lexie asked.
"I just heard you playing in here and thought it was pretty good." I said.
Lexie rolled her eyes and looked at her paper and began to write down lyrics. "Don't try to flatter me. It's not going to work. You might be hotter now, but that doesn't mean I'll fall for your looks like those two basic bitches named Dawn and Brooke."
"Damn. Do you have something against them?" I asked.
"Yep, they swear they are something nice. Dawn is the captain of the dance team so she's pretty fucking popular and Brooke..she's fucking Brooke. She can do it all, she can do art, she can sing, all that. She's perfect." Lexie said.
"I mean, you're great as well." I said then sat in the other rolling chair.
"Thanks, nerd." Lexie said then stopped writing. She looked at her guitar then heard the other guitar being played by me. She looked over at me.
I played the guitar and closed my eyes. One of the things I've always dreamt of was being good at virtually everything so I could have options on what I could do. That meant being good at music as well. She watched as I played the guitar and tapped her foot. She decided to play with me and got an idea for a song she's been trying to write. I looked at Lexie and watched her play the guitar. She nodded her head to the tap of her foot as she played.
I played around with the drum kits and made a beat to go along with the music Lexie wanted to write. She began to write down lyrics and finally got a complete song out the way within the hour we had in this period. She sat back in her chair and looked at the ceiling.
"I didn't know you did music as well." Lexie said then looked at me.
"Well, there's a lot you don't know about me." I smiled and closed my eyes, letting my hair down. "But that can change. We can get to know each other."
"As if." Lexie rolled her eyes and turned her chair to look away from me. "I can't be caught hanging around a loser like you. I'm not Dawn, I'm not Brooke. I hang out with my own clique. You hang with yours."
"Why are you being like this towards me? I feel like you really dislike me for some reason." I said.
"It's nothing against you personally. It's just...if Sean sees us hanging out, he's going to flip his shit. I can't have any drama...especially not when I have a party to plan and planning to enter this music competition called Superstars of Tomorrow." Lexie said.
"Come on. You all are letting that jackass punk you around..? Yeah he's an athlete, yeah he's an actor, yeah he's got money, but come on. He's literally like the rest of us. Even I'm no different from the average person." I said.
"Why are you so adamant on being friends with me or at least becoming closer to me? You literally have Dawn and Brooke. You shouldn't mess with people like me and Jocelyn." Lexie said.
"Well, it's because I can tell you don't like being around him. Too much toxicity isn't good for you especially for Jocelyn." I said then used my leg to turn her chair around.
Lexie looked at me and sighed. "Leon..."
I smiled at her and set down the guitar then took her guitar from her lap them set it down. "We spent an entire hour together making this song. At least listen to it with me before I go."
"Alright. Fine, but after you need to leave." Lexie said.
I smiled and pressed play then sat back in my seat. I nodded my head to the song and Lexie did the same. I looked at at Lexie and noticed her enjoying the song. She was smiling and closed her eyes.
"Fuck...that one note you played was just perfection.." Lexie said and melted in her seat. "Yes...Yes that note is just...God."
I chuckled softly and kept nodding my head to the song. Once the song ended, a sense of satisfaction hit us.
I stood up and smiled. "Well, that was a nice song. As promised I'll be heading out. I'll catch you later."
"Wait, Leon." Lexie said then turned to me in her chair.
I looked at Lexie. "What's up?"
"Do you wanna come back after classes? I might need help recording the lyrics." Lexie said.
"Sure I don't mind stopping by." I said.
"Thanks." She smiled and turned her chair around again.
I walked out of the studio and walked down the halls to my next class. I smiled to myself and put my hair in a ponytail.
The rest of the day was just about as one would expect, boring but I had something to look forward to after classes so it wasn't so bad. As the final bell rang, I made my way to the music studio as promised. As I walked down the hall, Sean bumped my shoulder once again. I looked back at Sean then shook my head and continued on my way. I walked into the studio and noticed Jocelyn there as well.
Jocelyn looked at me and took a hit from her vape pen. She blew the smoke out her nose and sighed. "If it ain't the sexy ass loser. Why the hell are you here?"
"Vaping is prohibited in the building." I said then took her pen then took a hit out of it then handed it back to her.
Jocelyn smirked and moved her eyebrow. "Well well, I might like you more than I thought~"
Lexie finished texting someone then held her hand out to Jocelyn and Jocelyn handed her the vape pen. She took a hit from the pen then blew out the smoke. She handed it back to Jocelyn. "Alright. We might be here for a while, but we can always start again Monday."
"That's fine by me." I said then sat in the other chair and turned everything on. Since we already recorded the instrumental, all we had to do was add the vocals and mix it well.
Lexie got up went into the booth then put on her headphones. I put on my headphones and gave Jocelyn a pair so she could listen as well. I rolled up closer to the computer and began typing and getting the first take going. Jocelyn slouched on the chair just a bit and watched while scrolling through her TikTok and Instagram.
"Alright, take one." I said in the microphone to Lexie.
Lexie gave me a thumbs up then looked at her notebook. She began singing and tried to find her flow. Half the words she mumbled due to her trying to find her perfect flow. "Let's get another take going." She said.
"Gotcha." I said then turned off my microphone and got another take for Lexie then played the song.
We stayed in the studio for two and a half hours. Thankfully, Jocelyn brought drinks and snacks while we were there for those two and a half hours. We kept the final take of the session and called it a night. Lexie gave me her Snapchat and texted me the location of the party that was happening tomorrow. We all left the building to go home for the evening.
