*Morpheus pov*
In a week I will have everything I need to properly start my excursion. Or purge if you will.
Given the time frame, I have it seems if I start today I can properly unseal the Ruby. I sat in my parlor the box containing the Ruby in hand as I ran my fingers on the grooves of the old, ancient box.
I know how it was sealed, and I know Alrazad thought I couldn't unseal it because I was missing the most important part, the key if you will.
Somehow, probably through an ill-fated deal, Alrazad convinced a god to use their language to seal it.
Although I can use the voice of the world, it would be pointless. The language of Gods has a very distinct tone which I cannot mimic.
Well naturally.
Smirking I disappeared from the lounge activating my portkey to the forbidden forest.
I made my way to my laboratory, walking inside I quickly scanned the shelves for the item I was looking for.
Seeing as I just put it there recently, I took the container holding Bernard's vocal cords. His connection to Gaia was the main reason I took them when he got his 'big' revelation his whole body was flooded with the magic of a God.
Taking the vocal cords from the container I set the container back on the shelf. I could still feel the divine earthly magic emanating from the vocal cords, putting them to my throat I began to chant softly.
"descendat in cutem,"
"onto corpus meum attach,"
"confundantur in unum,"
"vox mea rugiet"
I could feel the vocal cords sinking into my throat, merging with my skin. The vocal cords gently became a part of my throat.
I could feel my magic trying to fight the divine energy. I must unlock the Ruby now, I am on a timer.
Taking the box in my hands, I began to speak loudly using the voice of the world. The divine vocal cords will add the missing piece, the tone, and energy I need to have.
"Open," I spoke loudly toward the box
*ssssshhhhh* the box shook gently in my hands
"OPEN" I yelled feeling my time running out
*SSSRRRMM* the box now shook loudly causing vibrations to course through my body
Gritting my teeth I declared, "OPEN!"
*kacha*
The box opened and the vocal cords merged with my throat dropped to the floor.
My throat itched "Ahem"
"Ahem Ahem Ahem," I couldn't stop coughing blood began to spurt from my mouth landing on the floor
"AHEM AHEM AHEM," I fell down to one knee coughing my lungs out
Finally, the coughing stopped but I couldn't talk, my vocal cords were destroyed. I knew I would face some backlash but I didn't expect the box to be so stubborn.
Cursing in my head I reached for a healing potion, as I drank the potion my throat practically screamed in pain.
Frowning I ignored the pain and lifted the lid, my gaze was instantly captured by the beautiful red Ruby. It seemed to shine in the dimly lit room. The bright red Ruby gleamed with an ethereal radiance as if crafted from the very fabric of dreams and desires. Its fiery hue captured the essence of passion, casting a spell of allure that whispered of untold temptations within its crystalline core.
I could feel the Ruby of dreams already trying to infect me, I smiled at the feeling. I finally have it, the Ruby of Dreams. Now I must be precise in everything I do, this Ruby will either allow me to soar in strength or doom me to fail.
Grasping the Ruby I could feel the temptation to abuse its power flooding my mind, I laughed hoarsely bearing through the pain.
This Ruby was made by the God Morpheus, it's purpose? To capture and influence dreams and desires.
God Morpheus made it to destroy us during the war, he sent it down to a mine where a random slave found it. That slave used the Ruby to grow into a king, he was killed, and a new bearer replaced him.
A cycle of madness and violence ensued. God Morpheus managed to decimate our soldiers by influencing the human desire of greed.
What he didn't take into account was how strong the power of greed really was. At a point in time, someone who had the Ruby decided to hide it away protected by the strongest wards imaginable.
God Morpheus couldn't get back his Ruby, a ruby that contained some of his power.
Since then God Morpheus has been searching for this Ruby, Alrazad somehow obtained it and was too scared to deal with that enraged God Morpheus.
Allowing me to capitalize on his fear.
Once my voice was healed which only took a day I began to plan a ritual. The ritual will allow me to implant the Ruby into my body.
I can resist the temptation for one simple reason, my mind and soul are always 'protected' by something else.
The Ruby might be strong but I highly doubt it can erode that.
*Narrator pov*
Morpheus, cloaked in an aura of mystic intent, stood in a sacred circle inscribed with ancient symbols. The air hummed with energy as he chanted arcane verses, his voice resonating with the whispers of forgotten realms.
In his hands, Morpheus held the pulsating bright red Ruby, a manifestation of dreams and desires. With deliberate reverence, he raised the gem above his chest, its glow intensifying in tandem with the ritual's crescendo.
As he began to speak the final incantations, Morpheus pressed the Ruby against his chest. The melding of mystical forces surged, and the gem merged seamlessly with his being. A surge of power radiated from Morpheus, marking the union of mortal and magical, dreams embedded within him like an eternal flame.
His aura seemed to emit a glow of desire underneath the heavy feeling of corruption. Letting out a breath of relief, Morpheus's aura seemed to reign in.
Now stood, the normal Professor Morpheus with a small smile on his face.
Morpheus opened and closed his hands multiple times as if studying his body for changes.
He gazed off into the distance with a knowing look in his eyes, as if he knew someone was cursing his name.
*Beyond the veil*
Perched atop a throne woven from the fabric of dreams, the God's furious expression commands both the ethereal realm and the turbulent depths of imagination.
Morpheus clenched his fist in unimaginable anger, "My Ruby," he cursed feeling his Ruby appearing in his senses once more than quickly vanishing
That night, the world of dreams was filled with turmoil. Even across the veil, his bountiful anger affected some.
Morpheus cursed the veil, cursed the one who erected it, and swore he would reclaim his treasure.
"He is there right now," Morpheus said softly his voice radiating anger
"It must be him," he muttered his right hand gripping his throne
"The one who shares my name," the way he spoke carried great resentment
"I can't wait to pry MY Ruby from your corpse,"
It was clear the anger Morpheus held for our dear professor was deep and unfathomable.
