Morpheus, raised his wand, a glint of determination and madness in his eyes. The air crackled with anticipation as the second act of their magical duel unfolded.
Morthrax, emerging from the shadows with renewed vigor, unleashed a swarm of shadowy tendrils that danced through the air like malevolent serpents the shadowy tendrils seemed to be coated in a deep red flame. Morpheus responded with a series of intricate gestures, conjuring a luminous barrier that repelled the encroaching darkness the barrier seemed to be tainted with red. The clash of light and shadow painted a mesmerizing scene across the battleground.
With a whispered incantation, Morpheus summoned spectral chains, each link forged from the essence of the ethereal plane. The chains spiraled towards Morthrax, seeking to bind him in their magical embrace. The Abyssal Reaver, however, erupted in a burst of dark energy, shattering the spectral restraints. His anger fueled roar scattered the wind.
Undeterred, Morpheus manipulated the ground to form giant pillars,. Threads of earth and nature, creating an otherworldly labyrinth. The demon navigated the maze with primal instinct, but each turn led to a new deadly trap. Morpheus, orchestrating the deathly symphony, aimed to confound his adversary.
Morthrax, sensing the intricate web closing in, unleashed a thunderous roar that reverberated through the astral plane. The soundwaves disrupted Morpheus's spell, shattering the labyrinth into shards. The battleground trembled, echoing the supernatural forces at play.
In response, Morpheus pulled the power of the stars he summoned a spectral companion—a radiant, winged creature born of pure magic. The celestial ally clashed with Morthrax, their forces locked in a magical clash. The very essence of light and darkness clashed as the combatants weaved between reality and the magical realm.
Morpheus's small smile began to morph into a mad grin as his champion began to turn pitch black, an aura filled with death and decay spread from the champion.
"Finally showing your true self!" Morthrax exclaimed while blocking a piercing claw
As the celestial no abyssal distraction held Morthrax's attention, Morpheus began an incantation of ancient power. Arcane symbols materialized in the air, blood began to drip from Morpheus's pale lips seemingly joining the symbols. The bloody symbols began forming a colossal, spectral blade imbued with malice and madness. With a resolute gaze, Morpheus directed the ethereal weapon towards Morthrax, aiming for the heart of the Abyssal Reaver's darkness.
The battleground became a canvas of deathly brilliance, a spectacle of magic and determination. Morthrax, sensing the imminent threat, roared in defiance, and prepared to face the climax of this fated confrontation.
"You have gotten stronger," Morpheus painted feeling drained
Morthrax stood shakily his demonic body trying to suck in as much magic as he could from the atmosphere.
"You," Morthrax's voice was grave and exhausted, "You are the one who has gotten stronger, I must kill you for the salvation of my people. Why must you fight? We could have been allies!" he yelled in anger and confusion
Morpheus laughed madness seeping through his demeanor, there was nothing left of the calm and composed Morpheus Hogwarts knows.
"You all of YOU behind that veil see yourselves as something better than us humans. You treated us as livestock! TREATED MY VILLAGE AS A FEEDING GROUND! You took me and my brother's family, you took everything from me, and for what?! It was for something so useless a fucking winter's solstice celebration!" Morpheus's voice was erratic his eyes were wide
A pill appeared in his hands and entered his mouth.
Morthrax lost his voice, "Those were dif-" he couldn't finish his sentence the earth seemed to bend to Morpheus's will spikes shooting out in all directions
Flames spewed like a tsunami from Morpheus's wand, Morthrax couldn't respond his body already exhausted beyond its limits.
*shick* he was impaled through his stomach
A spear shot from behind his leg *shick* Morthrax couldn't move as his body was bathed in flames
"ARGHHH!" he screamed in pain as his skin was burnt off
Slowly the fire died down and Morpheus stood in front of a barely conscious Morhrax.
"Kill me, bastard," Morthrax said with the last of his strength
"I will make you feel what your people soon will," Morpheus began a long and intricate chant while moving the rubble into a ritual pattern
The magic surrounding Morthrax seemed to disappear, his body felt like it couldn't breathe.
Morpheus was suffocating him.
As Morthrax began to take his last breaths Morpheus closed his eyes and calmed his breath.
When he opened his eyes a calm small smile was now settled on his face, his wounds were still present but it was as if he couldn't feel them.
He began to make use of the pill's ability to repair the battleground and erase all presence of his magic signature.
Just as he finished the thermal memories whisps appeared before him, and his memory flew into his head while Morthrax's stayed floating.
Morpheus took out a bottle and stored the memory, he thought it would be best not to see it here.
Turning around Morpheus smiled at the still body of Morthrax, flicking his wand the body was bathed in flames not even leaving ash.
*Morpheus pov*
Arriving at my manor I still was feeling the effect of the pill, it was truly a miracle worker. I didn't use it early on because I didn't know if Morthrax was hiding a Trump card.
That demon has been alive for years and was able to avoid me in battle for some time.
It seems his luck finally ended.
Although my body was fine mentally I was exhausted, dealing with beings who have known me for centuries is always troublesome. They have the ability to unearth memories I'd rather keep locked away.
Taking the bottle holding the information Morthrax bet I uncapped the lid and took the memory in my hand.
I didn't need a pensive for something so mundane as this, taking the memory I breathed deeply it turned into smoke and entered my orifices.
A soft chuckle escaped my lips, so their plan was along my own speculations. They are using Tom Riddle to build an army of influential soldiers.
Manipulating him from the shadows without him even knowing. But, it seems they underestimated the tenacity of a human that desires immortality.
The demons can't possess Tom Riddle because his soul isn't whole anymore. The man accidentally saved himself.
But, that doesn't save his followers.
Luckily, I'm already cleaning up the demons that Negary found limiting their reach but, I don't know what the other races are doing.
Demons as a race were always the most active, but I'm sure somewhere the others are waiting for a weak point to abuse.
I must limit all possible weak points, and to do that I will have to pass on enjoying my summer.
But, then again when have I ever enjoyed my summer?
***
"Ughh," I groaned into the bucket I held between my legs
These damn pills have a horrible after-effect. Potions barely work they just make you want to throw up more.
Negary flew in through the little hole in my manor for the best Raven in the world. In Negary's claws was a letter.
I groaned while taking the letter my head pounded in a slow throbbing pain. Opening the letter I saw news clippings and the single sentence, "We should have a meeting soon," - Arcturus.
The news clippings were of notable disappearances. Also known as the demons I just killed.
Now how am I going to evade this topic?
