Chapter 71 - Future

*Morpheus pov*

The clear mirror began to ripple like gentle waves, as I watched my image distort in the clear glass I began to lose focus of the world around me.

I saw a world of darkness, slowly color began to creep in building the world around me but in the future.

I saw a future where Tom Riddle did one too many rituals and ended up looking more like a snake than a man. I saw him kill a family and then turn to dust when he tried to kill their baby.

I saw the child growing up, saw his downs and ups and him eventually avenging the death of his parents.

The world became black once more, then color arrived in a wave of brilliance. I now looked upon the scene of war, magical markets turned to outposts.

Death in the air.

Dark and light wizards working together against a common enemy. I saw the grief and despair the wizard's eyes held, I saw the anger burning deep in their souls.

I saw myself leading them to war once more, my brother was at my side along with my other allies.

I saw traitorous wizards and witches working for my enemies, I saw a war like no other.

My vision turned dark once more, and then in a blinding flash of light, I saw a picture once more, this time the vision was more blurry. I could still who was who but I could tell I was reaching my limits.

Focusing my mind I began to travel the myriad paths of the future, each time I discovered a new possible branch my vision became blurrier, and my mind, soul, and magic felt the strain of countless visions.

As I felt the connection I built begin to waver I focused on the dream stone embedded in the center of my chest, taking a deep breath I let its magic envelop my body. I felt a burst of strength gritting my teeth I pushed for one more path.

*shhoom* I saw a world of black and grey, a figure I could make our as Helga fought against many enemies, she seemed to dance around her enemies as spells flew and blades clashed.

I couldn't tell who her opponents were due to the blur that seemed to cover their bodies. The battle seemed to be reaching the climax and Helga was clearly losing, just as the battle was going to end the image shattered like glass, and my legs crumbled on themselves.

The mirror in front of me shattered sending shards in my direction, waving my hand I stopped their approach. My nose was bleeding and I felt a giant headache.

"Haaa," my deep breaths were the only noise in the silent chamber

My whole body felt sore, "Haaa," standing shakily to my feet I left the chamber focused on my objective

The bed, it's time to lay down.

After resting, my breathing returned to normal, and my head stopped thumbing in pain. What I just used was one of the most powerful divination spells, it gives the caster many very real possibilities of the future. But there is a heavy price, the strain on the caster's body, and the fact that the visions are really detailed but have much variety.

It is the caster's duty to piece together the visions and create a tapestry of the future. This is what I will be focusing on for the rest of the summer, it is smart to perform these powerful divinations every so often to gain a new perspective.

Being fully rested I stood from my seat and prepared to set off, I am traveling to Africa this time.

Taking my portkey I activated it and disappeared from my manor. As the magical currents subsided, I found myself standing amidst the vibrant landscapes of Africa.

The air was alive with the sounds of exotic creatures, and the sun painted the sky with hues I had loved to see even with the amount of traveling I did. My destination, a tribal community nestled between rolling hills, beckoned me with an air of mystery.

Approaching the ward line I passed straight through, as I walked toward the village I could see Animagus in their animal forms running and flying around, the freeness of the village could heal any soul.

Except for mine, I tried that already.

"Ah, Morpheus!" An old voice sounded in front of me in astonishment

"Mandla," I greeted him with a warm smile, "It's been a while,"

Mandla is a ritual master, many of their tribal sacrifices and dances come from Mandla's mind. He is old but not as old as me, he bound himself to this tribe. If Mandla leaves the tribe boundaries he would die instantly.

"Morpheus my old friend, have you come to celebrate?" Mandla asked with a large smile

I laughed, "No, I came to soul search in a way, but I would be honored to attend your celebrations,"

"Soul searching? Yes, it is about that time, come let us feast," Mandla chuckled while turning to guide me

I followed Mandla through the tribe, many of the tribe members gave me odd looks but I just smiled, I hadn't been here in a while. Everyone I knew would have already passed.

Entering Mandla's house I was greeted with a table full of food that made my tastebuds yell in joy.

"You seem prepared," I noted with a wry smile

"I like to eat with my warriors but, today it will just be us, my friend," Madla replied sitting down

I joined him, "I saw a panther animagus while we walked here, how long has it been since one has appeared truly a blessing from magic my friend,"

"Ah yes, Thabo. We were overjoyed to learn of his inner self," Mandla replied with a proud smile

Panthers were rare animals for animagus to get, no I should say animals geared to hunting are rare.

That's why most animagus are something common, and when a rare case of a predator animal appears it is a great occasion.

"Will he perform the alignment ritual when he is older?" I asked while digging into a dish of Bobotie a savory dish with spiced minced meat

"Yes, he is eager to perform it," Mandla replied with a proud smirk

"Good, that type of talent is hard to find," I nodded

"This is delicious as always my friend," I remarked as we ate in a perfect harmony

"Thank you," Mandla said with a wide smile

"Is the outside world so bad you would need to use our tribe to soul search?" Mandla asked with interest

Mandla sadly can't leave the tribe so all of his news of the outside world is through the eyes of his tribe members. He probably goes crazy from all of the possibilities outside of his tribe.

"Yes, it seems the final war will be upon us. But that's hardly any of your concern, I recently took up teaching," I replied with a small smile

"Really?" Mandla asked skeptically completely ignoring the part about the war

"Yes, I find it rather enjoyable to be honest,"
