Chapter 72 - Creating a tapestry

*Morpheus pov*

I wanted to be here for more than just aligning my thoughts and dissecting the information I gleaned from the divination spell I used.

This place is excellent for helping center the mind, and freeing your spirit from all distractions.

I stood from the table, "I will begin my journey now,"

"As you wish my friend," Mandla said with a wide smile

I left his home and began to walk towards the back of the tribe, almost hidden away a cave appeared the entrance dancing with shadows.

I walked toward the cave and slowly entered, I instantly felt a shift in my bearings. The cave had the magical ability to erase all senses, sadly my eyes would not cooperate seeing as I could still see.

I waved my right hand over my eyes and suddenly I saw nothing, heard nothing, smelt nothing, and felt nothing.

My legs kept moving, I knew where my final destination was. At the end of the straight path, there should be a clearing with a pool in the middle.

Counting my steps in my head I began to take off my clothes, once that was done I stepped forward and entered the pool. I know I entered because I could feel the magic in my body spike.

That was the one sense that wasn't taken. Smiling, I let the feeling engulf my body and soul.

My mind began to drift away.

*Narrator pov*

Morpheus lay, suspended within the inky depths of the cavernous void. The pool, an ethereal liquid with a shimmering luminescence, cradled him in a freeing embrace. The darkness that enveloped the cave was absolute, an absence that swallowed every sensation—no sight, sound, touch, or scent dared to penetrate the impenetrable veil.

Here, in this realm untouched by the tangible world, Morpheus found solace in the sanctuary of his own mind. Stripped of the sensory distractions that bound wizards to the physical realm, he floated weightlessly, attuned only to the echoes of his own soul and the pulsating currents of magic that coursed through his being.

In this sensory void, Morpheus began a meticulous process of mental organization. His thoughts, usually scattered like the stars across a boundless sky, now gravitated toward a serene coherence. With every passing moment, he unraveled the complexities of his recent divination, weaving them into the fabric of his consciousness creating a tapestry of the future.

The essence of his magic resonated like an ethereal melody, Freed from the distractions of the physical senses, Morpheus delved into the recesses of his own soul, exploring the depths of his magical reservoirs.

In this realm of profound introspection, time lost its conventional measure. The boundaries between thought and reality blurred, and Morpheus navigated the corridors of his consciousness with a newfound clarity. The pool beneath him, a liquid reflection of the magical currents within, mirrored the serenity of his focused mind.

As he continued to organize the kaleidoscope of his recent findings and past memories Morpheus's face began to form a frown.

He was reliving some memories better left untouched, as he tried to push through the memories a figure appeared in his mind before him.

"You cannot move forward," the figure another version of himself said softly

"I made you to keep me away from those memories and now you want me to live through them?" Morpheus said angrily

The ethereal Morpheus chuckled, "No you made me to separate your madness. To keep you from going too far,"

The ethereal Morpheus continued, "We both know you need to relive these memories once more. See what you are fighting against, and feel that rage you once had"

Morpheus sighed, "Feel the rage, I guess you are correct I do need to feel it once again. This time for other reasons,"

Morpheus then stopped fighting letting the memories consume him, at the same time the Ruby in his chest began to glow.

A rush of memories hit Morpheus like a giant wave, he saw his village in ruin blood painting the ground and walls consuming the world in a red hue.

He saw gods laughing as they forced humans to fight in wars, he saw demons trading humans like livestock. Angels taking humans from their homes to have as servants.

He saw humans begging to be freed for someone to stop their suffering.

Morpheus suddenly roared inside his mind in anger shattering the memories trying to corrupt his mind into madness.

Morpheus's soul and mind began to grow calm and the ruby's light faded. Morpheus looked around and saw all of his memories in small bubbles. Each bubble contains a piece of his past and present.

As the memories floated around him he began to wave his hands like he was a conductor.

Memories of his recent divination spell shot toward him. Morpheus began to swipe some of the paths away they contained things he knew wouldn't happen, and slowly he began to build a singular path. Piecing together events that were most likely to occur.

After what seemed to be forever Morpheus finished, stepping back he saw a tapestry of bubbles containing events he weaved together to create the timeline he thinks will occur.

With a gentle calm smile, Morpheus felt his mind, and spirit become free of worry and rage. He felt at peace with his existence, at peace with what he would need to do.

Eventually, he felt himself return to his body. Stepping from the pool Morpheus got dressed and began his journey back to the tribe.

Leaving the cave he waved his hand dispelling the blindness that plagued him. As Morpheus walked toward the tribe he felt like a different man.

The pull of the Ruby that always pricked at his mind was absent, and the shadow pains of his hellish punishment during death disappeared.

Mandla stood waiting for him, "You are at peace," he noted

"Yes, Mandla my friend your tribe has done so much for me how will I ever repay you?" Morpheus asked

"By winning, you can repay us by winning against those egotistical monsters," Mandla replied with fire in his eyes

"Trust me, my friend, I will win this time once and for all," Morpheus replied with a small chuckle

"How long was I in there?" Morpheus asked

"Two weeks," Mandla answered with a shrug, "Faster than some,"

"It was well worth the time," Morpheus said, "Now let us eat,"

*Morpheus pov*

The cave helped more than Mandla could ever know. I have used it before but refused to confront the memories of my past.

This time I took them on and conquered them. I feel free like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders.

Seeing as it took two weeks, summer break is almost over which means I will be teaching an interesting bunch of students.

I could have spent the two weeks hunting down enemies but likely nothing would have come from it. After killing so many the ones on earth probably relocated or are in hiding.

I am not worrying though. There will be a time when I will rain upon them delivering the same pain I and so many others had to bear with for years.
