"Hitomi... do you like the sound that waves make when they hit each other?"
"Hmm?"
Hitomi Fujiwara, an undergraduate from a prestigious university in Tokyo, was sitting on the concrete wall overlooking the sea shore. Beside her was Ken Amakura, another undergraduate in the same university. They were friends, best friends⊠or maybe something more? Even they weren't yet sure about it. Hitomi tilted her head as she looked at Ken, who was staring at the azure sea.
It was a beautiful day. The sun was bright and harsh, coloring the scenery around them not just in light, but also in warmth.
"What made you say that, suddenly?" Ken did not immediately answer, taking his time as he kept looking at the waves hitting the shore.
"⊠I just remembered the things that happened. Back when we were kids...", Ken turned his head to face Hitomi. "Why, don't tell me you lost your memory too, Hitomi-San!"
"Hi hi hi", Hitomi giggled. "Was that what you were worried about?" she teased.
"W-Well. Not really."
"Oh no need to worry. I've got all those preserved neatly right here.", she said tapping her head. But her smile slightly faded. "Even though I want to forget themâŠ"
Ken looked at Hitomi, his eyes locking onto her bright ones. He could almost see a reflection of himself in them. Although that was far from what stories they told; The past they experienced together, all the disturbing events. All of that was in her eyes. Same could be said with Hitomi. She too saw the same thing in Ken's eyes. The salty breeze that blew past them was the only thing that filled the quietness between them...

It was dark. And all the girl could make out was her blood stained uniform if she looked down, and someone with their eyes flaming with blue. Just looking at this person in the eye made her uncomfortable, to the point she herself realized that it was fear that was engulfing her. The person then withdrew something bright, illuminating the darkness. She tried to see through the blinding glow what this person's face looked like. Then in one swift motion the person held the sword up before swinging it through air.
