Chapter 43: The New Student!!!
Lancelot Jr walked back to trace the location of the principal, and after a lot of searching, he was finally able to find her.
After they reunited, she led him to the place he would be staying.
She got him to the hostel that was made specially for Water nation elementals,
Only two students were in this particular room on the block, room WAI .
It had a spacious interior and it was the first room on the block, all other rooms were still under construction.
The two other Water elementals were 6 and 7 years old respectively.
One was in his second year while the other was in his third year.
There was bed space for each student, a cupboard that had practically all they would need, and they had their clothes provided except for Lancelot.
The principal then turned to him,
"This would be your bed space, a tailor would be sent to take your measurements,
All the clothes you would need would be provided and if you have any other you need, you can request for it."
"These other students are water elementals and this is their dormitory, but because fire nation dormitory was filled to the brim and this nation dormitory was nearly empty you were moved here temporarily."
"The dormitory for scholarship students like yourself is a new project being considered, so when the building is completed, you would be moved there."
She then paused to allow him time to digest all she had said,
"Gabriel," She called, narrowing her eyes at him,
"Don't disappoint me,"
She then turned and walked away.
Lancelot jr just climbed the bed with his clothes and lay there without moving.
In about two hours, the two water elementals moved to his bed space,
"It's time for lunch, you are Gabriel right?"
Lancelot jr ignored them and just stayed in that position, without answering them,
"We miss our parents too, but we need to find a way to make them proud of us",
The shorter one with a bald head said.
The other taller one took the initiative to introduce himself,
"I'm Leonard, this is Donald, we are half brothers, feel free to talk to us"
They later left after enduring the continued
silence from Lancelot Jr for a while.
Lancelot Jr stayed in that position and slept off.
Since the school was to officially start the next day, no one paid too much attention to it, but as Lancelot Jr woke up from his sleep 3 hours later, his stomach started to grumble.
He was really hungry and he needed to satisfy his seemingly insatiable hunger.
He got up and looked around for the other two water elementals, Leonard and Donald but they were not in sight.
He then decided to move out.
As he got out, he noticed that something entered into his body and merged within the depth of his soul, something began to lead him.
It was like an instinct, telling him where to go, he was skeptical at first, unsure of what it was, nonetheless, he still followed the leading until he got to the cafeteria.
He saw a man left in the huge hall, as other students had gone off to do other things since the eating time was over, his stomach grumbled revealing the extent of his hunger.
The cook looked at him and smiled,
"You're the new student right, the one with the scholarship? I was wondering where you were, Principal Gladys had given special instructions to feed you well".
Lancelot Jr still didn't say anything but nodded in agreement.
"Okay come here, there is still some food left",
The cook took him behind the serving counter, and into the kitchen, he took a plate of fresh pancakes and a glass of milk and handed it over to him,
"Find a good spot, sit down and eat, if you need water, just use the tap to the left, there is a glass on each table.'
Lancelot Jr nodded in agreement, but before he left, the cook asked him,
"Your name is Gabriel Li, right?",
Lancelot remembered the warning of the mother-like figure he had just met and then he nodded in agreement.
He walked to the table sat and ate the meal, savoring every bite and quenching his hunger in the process.
After he was done, he thanked the cook and came out.
He felt refreshed and didn't know what to do, he didn't know what the other students were doing, the instinct was leading him again, this time it led him into a hall filled with books, a library.
The attendant went to him,
"Hey, little man, what is your name?",
Lancelot Jr looked around at the staring eyes, feeling a bit shy,
"Gabriel Li",
"What would you like to study?", the library attendant asked,
Lancelot Jr started to ponder on what answer to give, as Lancelot Jr was pondering, the instinct told him,
'fire nation history',
it just appeared on his mind.
'Fire nation history",
Lancelot Jr replied.
The library attendant was stunned,
"Really? normally since you're a new student history comes when you're in your 5th yearn
She was surprised but she still led Lancelot Jr to a shelf and got all the introductory books on the history of the fire nation.
Lancelot Jr was taken to a corner where he could read undisturbed as suggested by the intuition to which he also made a request to the
Library attendant.
As he started with the first book, images began to appear in his mind, he saw the history of his mother Kendra playing out with the Air nation and other occurrences.
Within two hours, he had gone through a millennium's worth of history, the story stopped when Kendra was killed for the first time and the Air nation Paige Kalliester rose to power.
The book in front of him was still opened to the first page all through the time he was in a trance, he felt that sweet motherly presence, telling him those stories, it felt so real, his mind became too vast and filled with so much information.
Slowly there was the concept of good and evil forming inside of him.
He clenched his hands as he saw the injustice, the instinct stopped and told him it was time to go to bed, he grumbled as he wanted to know more, but later he agreed.
He has started to trust the instinct, in fact, he was starting to believe that the instinct was his mind leading him aright.
By the time he got to his dormitory, he found Leonard and Donald, playing with a round ball of water as they tried to move it around, following the instruction of a book they had upturned to a particular page.
"Hello Gabriel"
They both stopped to acknowledge him, but Lancelot was feeling a bit angry from the history he just witnessed.
All he did was give a bow and climb onto his bed and later on fell into a deep sleep, the two boys just looked at him and shook their heads,
"Do you think he will survive here?" Leonard asked,
"l don't know" Donald replied gesticulating with his hands spread both hands out to opposite sides,
"With all the bullying and pressure, he might even crumble underneath" they both sighed
and continued with what they were doing.
