Chapter 6: Basilisk!!!
After leaving the blood nation, Lancelot descended whilst also gradually lowering both Dice and Cherry, till their feet touched the ground.
Ever since they left the blood nation, Dice had been lost in his imagination.
He has been unable to tear himself from the picture of Cherry's privates, which he had been able to see during the episode of the clash with Lord Paige Kalliester.
This had also created an undying urge to start a conversation with Cherry but every time he stares at her and their eyes connect for even a second, it would seem as if deadly flames were flying out of Cherry's eyes and attacking him on the spot.
Cherry always had a look of disdain and hatred towards Dice and she even stopped showing him any form of respect.
Unfortunately for Dice, he couldn't control his feelings.
Lancelot on the other hand was however unconcerned with the development of things,
In fact, to him, as long as whatever develops from this dynamic, does not affect the team's progress, then he doesn't mind.
"Where are we going?" Cherry asked with a curious gaze as she stared at her brother, waiting for his response.
Lancelot turned to where Cherry stood, left of him and he smiled, "We are going back home, to the fire nation but before we do, I want to recruit the beast nation members, to support me in the fight against the air nation's tyranny"
Cherry nodded in understanding but Dice quickly raised his concerns, "Beast nation is a nation of savages among all elemental nations. They bow to no one and betray anyone for enough money or power.
''In legend, it is said, that the beast nation land, would test any non-beast intruder or visitor, who walks in by introducing legendary beasts, some of which are so deadly that even the very gods would rather avoid. That is the main reason why they remain unconquered by the air nation.''
Lancelot remained quiet, listening to Dice with a smile,
'Lancelot, please listen to me, let's just go to your home in the fire nation" Dice finished, with a pleading gaze.
"We will be fine" Lancelot replied whilst still smiling.
Dice couldn't help thinking that Lancelot was throwing his life away and not only his but that of his sister and even Dice's own life.
He was torn between following Lancelot to a death sentence and retreating to save his own life, "Brother, you've changed, you seem much more confident" Cherry said, staring at her brother in awe.
"if you say we'll be fine, then I believe we'll be fine". Cherry added with confidence in the abilities of her brother.
Dice didn't share the same confidence in
Lancelot as Cherry did, but he gritted his teeth nonetheless, in acceptance of Lancelot's crazy decision.
A few hours later, they reached the entrance of the beast nation border gate.
The gate was left wide open, with no one guarding it, that was how confident the beast nation members were.
They believed that no one could survive their test let alone pass it.
The legendary test imposed by the beast nation land on visitors and intruders seems to be always having the upper hand on any person taking the test and according to history, no one has passed it.
However, Lancelot thought differently.
Lancelot stepped through the gate and immediately the gate disappeared and the surroundings changed into a floating stage that supported Lancelot's weight.
A display light focused on Lancelot, suddenly a voice spoke out with a deep guttural god-like wave of sound-
"Mere-mortal, why have you visited the beast nation, do you have a death wish or are you tired of living so much so you decided to take the beast nation land test?"
Lancelot remained composed,
unmoved by the threat, he spoke in response "Oh great god of the beast nation, I wish to take the test on behalf of myself, my sister, and my friend"
Lancelot spoke casually as if waiting for a loophole.
There was a sudden flicker of two sets of huge eyes that appeared out of thin air.
"How could you possibly know of my identity?"
the god of the beast nation asked in shock.
When all the gods started fighting one another for dominance as the elemental god-king, only the beast god was out of sight.
He was so well hidden and secretive that it was believed by Other gods that he was dead, and every beast nation citizen ensured to keep to themselves, spending all their lives in their nation.
While the beast nation god protected the members and the land from intruders or invaders without revealing his identity, no one knew that he still existed, well except for the person standing before the beast nation god.
Those eyes looked at Lancelot in shock, waiting for an answer that was at least plausible.
Lancelot remained composed, unfazed by those glittering eyes.
"How could I possibly know, oh God of the beast nation, I merely guessed, not expecting to be right," Lancelot said while smirking
inwardly.
Ever since the fire incident that floated towards his body to heal him during the dungeon imprisonment at the hands of the air nation, he had come to possess forbidden knowledge about all the elemental nation and their elements.
The flames had somehow given him such deep knowledge, and this made Lancelot look even more terrifying to the god of the beast nation as he stared at Lancelot in shock.
After a moment of silence, the beast nation god spoke.
"As you wish, you may take the test on behalf of yourself and your sister and friend, but if you fail or get killed during the test, your friends would also be killed, and your souls would be turned into beast nation souls for reincarnation"
Lancelot nodded in agreement, without even taking time to consider the conditions.
Suddenly, the environment changed again into
that of a cave.
It was bright, with fire lamps burning by the walls Of the cave, the fire lamps were lined up in an orderly manner to illuminate the entire cave,
On the wall of the cave were also scratches of words inscribed onto it, one of the common ones translates into "The beast snake", another one said "Basilisk".
Lancelot had a confident look as he started around the large cave. He knew naturally that he had to find a way to befriend the basilisk rather than fight it, as most people would choose to fight it,
The Basilisk was a legendary snake-like beast, huge beyond proportion and its stare is a fatal attack to any living soul.
Lancelot walked calmly, going deeper into the cave when he saw a goat about to be devoured by a wolf.
The goat was gripped tightly by the fangs of the wolf which bit into the goat's neck.
Lancelot knew that if he were to save the goat from the wolf, the act might interfere in the show the basilisk was enjoying, so he stayed back to rather observe.
As he remained deep in thought staring at the scene unfolding before him, he noticed a pair of eyes staring in a distance.
The eyes were huge, placed at either side of a monster-like snakehead.
"The Basilisk"
Lancelot muttered to himself, still a bit shocked at the huge size.
