"Mustafa, you need to pull yourself out of this darkness."
"Darkness, how do you know that I am in darkness?" Mustafa asked his close friend Ali.
" Your eyes are sunken into your skull, you drink alcohol more than your body could, there are bags under your eyes and you look like you have been roughed up recently, from what I can guess from the cut running across your arm, as the skin around it is still red. Even I have eyes and ears Mustafa and the opinion of the public about you is not good. They think you are some sort of thug. You need to bring change in yourself, Mustafa. I am worried about you, my friend."
"..... Ali, my brother, can I ask you a question?"
"Yes, of course."
"What is darkness, according to you?"
"What?"
"You said that I am in darkness, what is darkness, according to you?"
"Darkness is the evil, fear, and hatred which lies in your heart, where the light of life hasn't reached yet."
"Light of Life? What if there was no light in this world? What if everyone lived under the same shadow of darkness? Then would people view it the same way in which they view it now? It all depends on the circumstances under which the person lives, my friend. Something which feels bad to someone is something which I have to do to live another day, to face this chaos called life. I never had a roof over my head, nor did I have someone to teach me the difference between good and evil. Everything which I have learned so far is from the streets. Life is my teacher, my friend."
Saying this, he got up from the pavement on which they were sitting, dusted his cloak lightly and went away.
'Thugs, huh....? If only they knew..." Mustafa mused to himself.
'Mustafa....' Ali could only think about what his black-eyed, black-haired friend said as he sat on the pavement, observing the moon shining through the curtain of clouds.
