Angie walked down the dark, damp, and desolate corridor. She deliberately made a small noise to signal that she was approaching, or rather, she wanted the particular entity to come at her instead.
In the past fifteen minutes, she had hunted four special high-rank zombies and extracted four blue seed cores. She felt that was enough for her and her human, but a particular entity intrigued her.
Therefore, she came to this underground place to check what kind of creature emitted such an aura. She just wanted to check it quickly and get back to Zayn's side ASAP as he might have noticed her absence and must be so worried.
"..." Angie noticed a big hole in the wall and went there, but she soon stopped in her tracks because she didn't want to go downstairs.
She then looked down to peek at what kind of monster was nesting in this place.
It was a moment when her golden feline eyes that glowed in the dark made eye contact with a pair of gigantic yellow reptile eyes.
"!?" Angie could see in the dark very well. The monster waiting for her down there was a giant snake dragon!
If she thought back about last week, then this monster was similar to a particular giant basilisk in that dungeon, the one that wanted to swallow her up so much.
Unfortunately, Angie soon loses interest. She had come here purely out of curiosity, but she was now satisfied. Because of that, it was time for her to go back to Zayn.
However, it was inversely proportional to what the giant snake dragon had in mind. That human girl with eyes that glow in the dark piqued its interest. Not to mention, her aura seemed to challenge its sovereignty, even if it was only for a split second.
"Shaa!" The giant snake dragon slithered up the wall and chased after the human girl who had come to its lair.
"!?" Angie was surprised. She rushed off at her maximum speed to get back to the surface. She took a shortcut through a gap and climbed up nimbly.
*Bam!*
The giant snake dragon was unable to fit through that narrow gap because of its gigantic body size. It bumped its body several times into the gap, hoping to fit in, but the results didn't change.
Seeing that, Angie stuck out her tongue and climbed out. She then hurried away from the vicinity as her hunt was over.
"Shaa!" The giant snake dragon hissed in annoyance and spat out a corrosive poison toward that human girl, but it was useless.
A few seconds later, the giant snake dragon rushed to the surface via another path.
Meanwhile, Zayn has just completed several experiments involving three potent formulas and several other formulas for a powerful mutated monster against a high-rank zombie.
Hundreds of zombies and mutated animals were also involved in the chaos, but all of them died because of the fierce clash. The two primary experiment subjects were also dying from loss of blood and exhaustion after the bitter battle amidst the great scramble.
"Absolutely amazing. Somehow, I feel we are a bunch of villains for having toyed with so many monsters and zombies to their death." Rico muttered softly at the terrible sight on the street there.
If he didn't know Zayn well enough, he might have thought Zayn was a psychopathic mad scientist.
Several other soldiers nodded in agreement with Rico's statement. However, they didn't feel sorry for those monsters and zombies because those things were one of the reasons that humankind was almost extinct.
"We need to get some samples from those dying monsters and zombies. We need to move fast before the bigger horde comes here." Zayn tidied all his things and turned around.
However, he was surprised to see that Angie was not present next to him. The one who helped him handle the vials and various materials while he observed the zombies was Grisella, not Angie. He failed to notice until just now, but Angie left without telling him first?
"Where did Angie go?" Zayn looked around in confusion.
"Erm, my apologies, boss. We were too focused on observing the zombies in the surroundings. Perhaps, she went to the next room to relieve herself?" Tom scratched his head awkwardly.
"???" Grisella just looked at Zayn with an innocent gaze.
"..." Zayn sighed and tried to check into the next room rather hastily. "Angie?"
Unfortunately, he couldn't find anyone in the next room because it was empty. All the rooms on the sixth floor were either empty or locked from the inside.
Zayn panicked instantly, but he soon realized a subtle noise was coming from the stairs. Angie came over from there, fiddling with an empty water bottle.
"Phew, there you are, Angie. Please don't go off on your own without telling me or anyone like that again, okay? We don't know what might happen, so we have to be very careful." Zayn breathed a sigh of relief and came closer to Angie.
"..." Angie just nodded in response. However, she also breathed a sigh of relief inwardly. She came back just in time.
"Good, everyone, let's go. Grisella, come on." Zayn took his backpack and gestured for everyone to leave.
"En." Grisella looked right and left, but she couldn't find anything she needed to bring. Therefore, she just rushed to follow the group leader.
"!~" Angie threw the empty bottle into the trash, then took Zayn's hand.
"Sigh, if it were us who went out of command, then boss might bash us with lectures and punishments. However, he tolerates it if it were his wife. If she gets hurt, perhaps he will throw us into the zombies' mouths?" Rico muttered softly.
"Hm, well that's the responsibility of the subordinates. Rick, I put you in charge of watching over Zayn's wife. She can't talk, and has her own problems. You're in charge of watching over her." Steven appoints someone for the task.
"Huh, why me? It is impossible for me to watch over someone else's wife. Do you want me to watch over her while she is sleeping too? No, no, that would be immoral and the boss would get annoyed." Rick refuses instantly.
"Not like that stupid. You are only on duty when we are in the field and the danger zone. See what happened just now? She went to pee without telling Zayn because of the urgency and the situation." Steven slapped Rick on the back.
"Ouch, that makes sense. Fine, I'll keep an eye on her more while on duty. Ugh, I can't imagine the boss getting angry because we neglected to protect them." Rick nodded in understanding. He got goosebumps a little as he imagined what it would be like when Zayn was angry.
Everyone then headed out onto a street full of zombie corpses and dead mutated animals. A high-rank zombie and a powerful mutated monster were also lying there, dying.
"Watch the surroundings and protect us. I'll take some samples." Zayn gave his order to the soldiers.
"Roger." Steven replied, and then the soldiers formed a circle around Zayn and readied their advanced rifles.
Zayn took out a military knife and some empty vials. He squatted down and took some fresh samples of various zombie and monster variants for future experiments.
*Rumble!*
"Shaa!"
A great commotion broke out in the distance. The sound of concrete walls and buildings collapsing could be heard clearly, followed by an intimidating, reptilian hiss.
A giant snake dragon then came into view, and everyone's faces immediately paled in dread.
That monster was like a scaly crocodile boa but had many fangs in its mouth. For a glance, everyone assumed the monster was a legless dragon, the snake dragon!
The size of that monster was also no joke. Its head alone was bigger than a heavyweight semi-truck, and its body length was over seventy-eight feet!
"Zayn, that's the giant snake that Grisella was talking about. The monster that destroyed New York City's base! We have to escape now! It's not a monster we can take down with rifles and bombs!" Steven gasped and immediately called out, ordering everyone to flee.
"!?" Zayn was also surprised. He immediately put all the vials containing high-rank samples into his small bag and then immediately took off his medical gloves.
He rushed to run away with everyone because he also understood that the gigantic monster of that class wasn't what they could fight against.
"Shaa!" The giant snake dragon noticed the existence of that human girl. It could no longer sense her aura, but it had memorized that it was her. Therefore, it immediately gave chase.
