THIRD PERSON POV
Rofus never really left the area when he left his cousin Nikita's flat. He simply waited for Nikita to return home by hanging out a few miles from the apartment. Even though Amelia did not express it out loud, he could not leave her by herself, especially after witnessing her level of fear when he left the apartment.
As soon as Rofus informed Amelia that she was leaving, he could tell she was anxious about something. To be honest, Rofus did not force himself out of awkwardness; he still intended to talk to her, even though it would only be about foolishness, just to be with her.
"What made you leave now, Rofus? Is this thing you are playing? I am aware of your strong desire to remain by her side." it was Jack, in a teasing tone.
Rofus was in no mood to converse with him or give him any attention, so he just ignored him. Despite the fact that Jack was correct. He does not want to own up to his bullying and have a disagreement. He will only grow enraged with him. Rather than telling Jack, he will simply keep it to himself. He felt so embarrassed around Amelia just thinking about it.
"You have the chance to stay inside. Though I understand that you still desire to be with her, why did you decide to go? Why remain here, hidden and in the dark?"
Jack cracked up as if what he said was something funny to laugh at. Rofus's eyes narrowed and he knitted his eyebrows. He made multiple attempts to simply ignore the gibberish that his wolf was spitting out, acting as though he was not even aware of his presence.
"It appears that you are not ready to part from her yet. It went against what your soul was trying to tell you. That is something you have to acknowledge, Rofus. Go inside, please. Go back inside. Spend as much time as you want with her. Refrain from stopping yourself. Falling in love with our mate is not a sin. Don't strain and stop yourself."
Rofus remained silent and did not utter a single word of commentary. His thoughts were lingering in Nikita's apartment, wondering what Amelia was up to at the moment. His mind is filled with a ton of silent questions. He is also wondering now if Amelia would believe him if he went back inside and made up an excuse to stay.
He paced forward and backward. Lining up his thoughts and comforting himself. Rofus repeated that several times. He left the apartment with heavy footsteps.
Jack initially believed that they would depart. He was taken aback when, after a few miles, Rofus stopped and took a seat close to the tree. In the end, Rofus chooses the first plans inside his head. To stay outside. To observe the apartment from a distance. To wait for his cousin Nikita to come to that spot.
"Why are you quiet all the time, Rofus? Could you please respond to me? I am asking you!" Jack made the same demand while continuously making fun of him.
"Will you stop talking so rudely, Jack? Are you blind? I have something on my mind right now. When will you allow me to have some mental tranquility? Rofus scolded Jack to shut him up. "Are you a woman? You are too loud! I am unable to think back on my important life decision.
Jack only let a boisterous laugh.
"Hmmn, you like her now don't you?"
Closing his eyes, Rofus lightly rubs his temple. Jack's annoying voice makes him have a migraine at that time.
"You can admit it now, Rofus. I am not going to criticize you. She was our mate, as I had previously stated. It is not something you can alter."
"So what if I like her now? Is it bad?" losing his patience, Rofus hissed.
The question did not surprise Jack. It made him more delighted right now.
"It is already coming from your mouth, Jack, that we are mates with her and there is no way I can stop that. Was it surprising?"
Jack started laughing hysterically. His constant roar, which indicated that he was happy, came next. The sound of it shattered the still damp silence of the surroundings. He continued doing it for a while until he coughed and nearly strangled himself. Up until the moment he transformed into a wolf, Rofus simply let him do it.
"That's my man! At last, you acknowledge it! So what are we going to do next? She has to come to us herself during the full moon. She must bear a mark identifying us as her owners. How are you able to pull that off?"
Rofus was thrilled to hear what his wolf had told him for the first time in their lives. That is correct. To become their own, they must mark their mate on the exact night of the full moon.
"Let me think about it, Jack."
It took them several hours to sense Nikita's presence. She appears to be lacking in energy and has a hunched over posture. Nikita wasn't surprised to see Rofus outside her apartment. She sensed her cousin's presence even though she was still far away. Nikita was no longer taken aback by his behavior. Since she is aware that her friend Amelia is her cousin's mate, she knew that Amelia was her target. Rofus has been making clear indications of this for the past few days.
"Rofus, what are you doing outside? Why did not you wait for me at my apartment by staying inside?"
Rofus merely shook his head and forced a smile. Rather than responding to her question, he asked another one about her health.
"Nikita, how are you feeling right now? Has your strength returned?"
Nikita nods at him and does not seem to mind that his answer differs from her inquiries.
"I am doing fine."
Seeing the rewetting and sadness in Nikita's eyes, Rofus had his doubts about her reply. His cousin's sadness was still evident to him. Her eyes made it clear. Nikita does not say it out loud, but she misses her parents. Without saying anything, Rofus gave her a hug. Nikita didn't complain, instead she returned the embrace. Something about her cousin Rofus's arms always comforted her.
"I appreciate it, Rofus."
"You are not by yourself. Nikita, do not carry all the burdens by yourself. You can let your friend know about it. She will give you her full attention."
Nikita merely nibbled her lip. She did not want to add to her friend Amelia's problems since she was aware of them already. She is accustomed to being by herself. No, Rofus was by her side the entire time, so she was not alone.
"So, did you accompany her to eat?"
Nikita was referring to Amelia. She has already recovered. Meeting her cousin had also helped her feel better.
"Yes, we had dinner together."
"When will you reveal everything to her?"
As though he was having trouble understanding her, Rofus furrowed his brow.
"What are you talking about?"
"Come on, Rofus. You are so obvious. I know the reason why you always come here to visit. I would not be the reason, am I right? It was obviously intended for Amelia, my friend."
A shy smile crossed Rofus's lips. He was unaware of how evident it was.
"Tell her now. Why do you have to wait? The entire full moon to show up?"
That evening, Rofus did nothing but tell Nikita how much she likese Amelia. She would not believe him even if he denied it. Nikita just listened intently, secretly happy for her friend. She will soon learn everything as well. Furthermore, she knows that her friend will persevere because she already has a support system in place for when life gets tough.
"Could you help me, Nikita?"
He mentioned that there are still a few nights left before the full moon.
"Of course, but let us first resolve her family matters."
