Chereads / WHAT IF I BECOME THE ENEMY / Chapter 35 - The Black Beast (4)

Chapter 35 - The Black Beast (4)

Adelman saw Cyril run up the steps to the top of the square stone guardhouse around the battlements.

He did not want to trouble the young man. Truly if only he could use great magic as Cyril did, that talented young man would be sent back to the capital along with His Highness the Crown Prince and his Beloved. However, only that young man who had not even been a year old as a knight of the palace could Adelman have any hope.

BRAK!

Adelman turned his gaze to the railing and saw a large wooden branch pierce the thick plank door of the fort. It squared off again, providing assistance to slash at the black beast that looked like a large bat but was even more sinister. Before Adelman was near the door, one of the soldiers who was blocking the door from the onslaught of the army's beast was grabbed, carried flying up to a dozen meters, then released.

The sound of broken bones falling to the ground, as well as heads breaking from hitting gravel first, made anyone lose their spirits. One, two, or three victims fell.

The same black beast, then also plunged downwards, being brought down by several knights who climbed onto the guardrail.

"BACK DOOR BREAK UP!" shouted someone, blaring.

All the knights listening at the front door did was hold their breath, a silence that said: Ah, I'm going to die soon.

"STAY HOLD THE FRONT DOOR! UNRESISTANT CHILDREN, PREPARE FOR A CRASH WITH THE BLACK BEAST."

"THE BLACK STARS IN THE FRONT ARE REDUCING! THEY ARE TURNING AND WILL JOIN THE BREAKER FROM THE BACK!"

That's better, thought Adelman. It seemed that, despite the strange behavior of the beasts, they were still not as intelligent as humans. Adelman gripped his sword even tighter, his palms aching.

From above the black star that looked like a bat fell again. Four or five knights rushed to shower the magically dying creature from above with swords. Call it a spirit burner. After all, they do not know whether to live or die.

A black wolf pounced on one of the knights. The man whose head was almost turning white screamed out in pain. However, he was still safe because nearby another knight had swung his sword. More than a dozen wolves appeared and started attacking in the same way.

Adelman was attacked by two tails at once, he tried to dodge but still received a slight wound on his arm due to the wolf's fangs. Unfortunately one of the wolves that attacked him had a special ability. It seemed that the wolves with special abilities were the alpha candidates in the pack.

They attacked back from both sides. One ends with Adelman's sword stabbed in the neck, the other manages to injure Legan again. It seemed that the negligent wolf was trying to make Adelman lose his hand. Or in this battle can not use both hands.

One died, and another came. Exactly two tails. Adelman's only thought was how to deal with the black wolf beasts that surrounded him, the other monsters in large numbers were also approaching.

The two wolves that had just arrived jumped up.

"FIREBALLS!"

A sizable fireball hit the two wolves who were in the air due to a jump.

Adelman turned his head towards the battlements, Cyril waving there saying something that couldn't be heard in the clamor of battle. What is clear, Adelman can rely on the young man.

***

The birds--Cyril could only call them that because these creatures have wings and could fly--tried to knock them down when they got over the fence where the guard post was.

Unfortunately, Cyril could no longer use the same method to bring down the winged black beast. They seem to learn quickly. Or someone had ordered him to do that.

There was a scream below, coming from the back of the battlements, where the other door was. The passage had been breached and from up here, Cyril could see the knights that had been guarding there running, joining the knights at the front gate. Unfortunately, it also brought with it the flying creature from the back gate plus another black beast.

Cyril saw the pack of black wolves that had attacked them once after exiting the capital flock. There are quite a number of them. And only Adelman can face him one on one. While it takes four or five people for ordinary knights.

When he looked towards the front gate, the black beasts that were attacking lessened. They ran towards the other side where the door could be entered.

"DAMN IT!" cursed Cyril loudly.

"IF YOU HAVE TIME TO CRUSH, USE IT TO TAKE UP THOSE WHO CAN FLY! THIS IS DISTURBING!" shouted the knight beside him, apparently a mercenary and having quite a bit of magic to use.

Cyril did as he was told, since his sword could no longer slash through the black, bird-type beast's wings, he had to think of another way. Just at that moment, the mercenary beside him invoked magic. For Cyril and his former modern life, he was very familiar with that magic designation. Fireball.

I didn't expect to hear that magic here too. Just like in the game! Inside Cyril exclaimed enthusiastically.

"FIREBALLS!" He screamed for the first time. However, nothing happened.

Never mind the fireball, the smoke just didn't come out of Cyril's hand. He felt very embarrassed. What is that huge magic power. Fireball alone he could not make it.

Adelman's scream woke Cyril. He blinked. How could he forget what Adelman had taught him. Magic doesn't just form without thinking about it. Hadn't Adelman told him like that in a roundabout way. It feels in the palm.

Cyril closed his eyes. He needed to learn to cast magic with his eyes open, but not now. He would if he managed to escape alive. He imagined the fireworks going off during the summer in the previous world.

"FIREBALLS!" Cyril shouted back.

This time his palm shot out something red and it exploded with great fanfare in the air after hitting one of the swooping bird creatures.

"Wow!" Cyril shouted with joy like a child who managed to crack his first walnut using a rock.

He no longer cared about the mercenaries who looked at him strangely. He saw two black wolves going to grab Adelman's body. Cyril did exactly what he had done before, this time with his eyes open. From his palm shot a red light and exploded against the two wolves that were in the air after jumping.

Cyril waved excitedly. "I CAN DO IT!"

However, Cyril realized the battle was too big now for Adelman to hear his screams. He turned to the mercenaries. "Can you take care of the birds? I'm going down!"

It seemed to fake death was better in the battles that lay below.
