Chapter 16 - Chapter 15 ( Bittersweet )

His eyes looked tired, and his expression was somber. He couldn't help but wonder what the future held.

Liam returned to his bedroom, opening his wardrobe to reveal a neat array of clothes. He reached for his pyjamas, the soft fabric a welcome change from the clothes he had been wearing earlier. As he changed, he winced slightly, the movement causing a twinge of pain.

He sighed, remembering the wound on his back. It was a painful reminder of the recent turn of events. Liam had forgotten about the wound, not because it had healed, but because the pain had become manageable. However, the sudden movement had brought it back to his attention, and he couldn't help but feel a pang of regret.

He finally changed into his pyjamas, the soft fabric a welcome comfort after a long and eventful day. As he walked to his bed, the familiarity of his surroundings was a soothing balm to his frazzled nerves. Lying on his bed, Liam closed his eyes, willing himself to forget about the day's events. He tried to push the memories aside, but they lingered, refusing to be forgotten.

Liam's mind was a jumble of thoughts, each one competing for attention. He tried to quiet his mind, focusing on the sensation of the bed beneath him. The softness of the mattress and the coolness of the sheets were a comforting combination. As he lay there, Liam felt his body begin to relax, the tension seeping out of his muscles.

Despite the initial struggle, Liam eventually forced himself into sleep. His body relaxed, and his mind quieted, allowing him to drift off into a fitful slumber. He was finally able to sleep after some tossing and turning on the bed, his body adjusting to the new position.

As he drifted off, Liam's thoughts grew less coherent, becoming fragmented and disjointed. His mind was a jumble of images and emotions, each one blending into the next. The world outside his window grew quiet, the darkness a soothing balm to his weary soul.

Liam's sleep was not peaceful, however. His mind was still racing, his thoughts a jumble of worries and concerns. He tossed and turned, his body restless as his mind struggled to quiet. But eventually, exhaustion took over, and Liam fell into a deep and dreamless sleep.

Liam woke up early the next day, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. He was surprised by the spring in his step and the slight smile on his face. As he lay in bed, he thought to himself, "It seems it pays well to keep your thoughts aside once in a while." He realized that sometimes, taking a break from his worries and concerns could be incredibly liberating.

However, his relief was short-lived. As he sat up in bed, he sighed, remembering what lay ahead of him that day and possibly in the near future. The weight of his responsibilities and uncertainties began to creep back in, and he felt his spirits dampen. "It's really not easy," he thought, shaking his head.

Despite his reservations, Liam knew he had to push through. Today was his last day at school, and his big brother had been kind enough to prepare a little party for him. Liam thought it wise to continue putting his thoughts aside and just go with the flow. He didn't want to ruin the celebration or disappoint his brother.

But this was not just any normal party. Liam couldn't help but feel a sense of irony and embarrassment. His brother was throwing him a party for dropping out of school, which didn't exactly feel like something to celebrate. To make matters worse, Liam was literally forced to drop out by the person throwing the party - his big brother.

The thought of it felt like being hurt a second time. Liam was ashamed and frustrated, feeling like his brother was rubbing salt in his wounds. He just prayed that his brother would at least let him have a normal day, without making a big fuss or reminding him of his failures.

As he got out of bed and began getting ready for the day, Liam couldn't shake off the feeling that today might be the last time he'd have this much freedom to himself. He felt a pang of sadness and loss, knowing that his life was about to change in ways he couldn't yet fully comprehend.

Although he had never really felt free, Liam knew that he was about to enter a new phase of his life, one that would come with its own set of responsibilities and challenges.

Liam gathered his wits, shaking off the lingering thoughts and emotions from the previous day. He took a deep breath, feeling a sense of determination and purpose. He began by straightening up his bed, smoothing out the wrinkles and creases in the sheets.

Although there were servants designated to do such tasks, Liam had always preferred to take care of his personal space himself. He liked the sense of independence and self-sufficiency that came with doing things on his own. Unless it was a special occasion, Liam generally didn't like others doing things for him.
