Chapter 26 - The Prairie State Strikes Back

As the Enola Gay entered Texas, the PBY Catalina ghosted their radar presence as the other J.I.S.A Fighters returned to friendly airspace. The two planes entered Texas without an escort. As they flew, the Texan President was having a celebration in Austin to celebrate the nuking of Springfield, elite officials were all present as the two Illinoian planes enter Austin airspace.

"I don't remember scheduling a flight over, do you Mr. Secretary?"

"No... but that's a B-29, Not a B-17 sir."

The group watch as the B-29 flies' solo into the center of the city and drops its last nuke. Houston had been nuked already and there were no communications at the President's order to not be disturbed. The crowd screams as the mushroom cloud rises of Austin.

"GET THE PRESIDENT TO THE BUNKER NOW!" yelled a bodyguard.

The Enola Gay regrouped with the PBY Catalina and slipped out of Texas undetected. The team cheers as they reunite with the J.I.S.A and head home.

The news of Austin and Houston's nuking spread across the former United States. Each region was horrified and impressed that the Prairie State had the balls to drop not only one nuke, but two nuke of the two prides of Texas.

The Texan war room was silent, not a peep, they all knew they'd been made fools, then the President spoke.

"Would someone mind explaining to me where that got not only one nuke, but TWO OF THE WITH A STRIKE CAPABLE B-29!?!? WELL!? SOMEBODY BETTER FUCKING ANSWER ME!"

"We'd heard rumors of something called "Operation Star Fallen sir, but it was from the West Coast, we couldn't trust any of those Democrat run states!"

The President sat back down, looking at the war map. It would be impossible for any heavy strike with the lethal levels of radiation now hitting their two most important hubs for strike capable bombers.

The Away team arrived back in ODTA and received a hero's welcome. Tickertape fluttered in the air as each pilot stepped out of their plane and was carried to Washington Park. The Illinois Alliance has struck the biggest blow to Texas since the civil war of the 1800's. They informed the Colonial States the plan was a success and cheers from the two regions went on late into the night. A four-day operation was now over, resulting in the humiliation of Texas.
