Chapter 5 - The Silica Sand Slavers

The Spirit tried to keep track of the turns and twists his kidnappers took.

Their voices were unfamiliar, but they traveled a 15-minute distance from the outskirts of the city. His head was spinning from all the gas, and his ears rang. As they marched they walked across metal grates and the loud clunking of machines was deafening.

Suddenly the bag was removed off his head, revealing the old mine pit of the former company "U.S Silica". A warrior growled as the Spirit was lead into the office area.

"So this is the illusive "Spirit of Ottawa" that took out the bridge."

"Who's asking?"

"Consider me an enemy, my drug trade can't flow smoothly with the Veterans Bridge now damming the Illinois and Fox Rivers."

"Couldn't let a bunch of savages overrun it either."

"Excuses, excuses. Tell me Spirit, what should I do? Kill you and spare the rest or kill them and spare you?"

"How about you let us go? We have no issues with you, we can clear the river."

"Well now! There is a business man under all that legendary horse crap! Release the strongest, send them to the river. You have 4 days."

"It'll take a week!"

"You have four days, then we kill everyone."

A Slaver took the hostages to the end of the area and let them free...all of them.

"There are some of us looking to escape, they'll be wearing white feathers, don't kill them. We are slaves here too, not slavers."

The Spirit nods and leads the others back to the downtown area and relays the news to the others. However, the other clans have begun moving their armies in defense of Ottawa. Diplomacy worked, they had the Two-Rivers Alliance now. Warriors started pouring in as dawn approached the town.

The sun rose hours later marking day one, and the town was in full swing, buffing defenses, and trying to restore power to the downtown area. The substation was under their control and they had it up and running with in a few hours. The Spirit and a few non-tribal survivors had made a water-wheel, able to turn and produce electricity through a coil to power the downtown area. However, with out power from the Nuclear Plant, the water-wheeled substation would have trouble powering anything outside of the downtown area.

There was now one advantage they new had that the Silica Slavers didn't, overcharged-train rails. With electricity flowing into Ottawa, the train rails were powered, and to overcharge them would simply require the flip of a breaker. However, this would cause quite the drain on the substation, and take power away from homes and storage houses, however, the slaver's would need to cross over multiple crossing points but by overcharging the rails, they had a way to funnel the enemy into a position they wanted. The Two-Rivers Alliance was ready, and had a backup plan as well, should the alliance army fail, they would retreat to the bridge, one lane of the bridge was still intact, and should be able to bear the weight of them crossing.

If they were going to win, they'd need to work together, and hit a hell of a lot harder than their enemies. War was coming, and they'd need their strength.
