Chapter 103: Downfall

"There is only You-Know-Who left!" An Auror said.

"Mister Potter is amazing!, He took care of the entire army all by himself." Another auror commented excitedly.

"There is no way He loses against You-Know-Who, right boss?" Tonks asked.

"I believe you can start using Voldemort's name. And…He has already lost." Amelia said confidently.

She had never faced the Dark Lord directly, but if He had been anywhere near to the level of what Harry has demonstrated so far…the last war would have ended very quickly.

"Come on, Harry!. Finish him off!" Luna cheered.

McGonagall was looking at Harry with a complicated expression. "Mister Potter…"

—-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back on the battlefield, Harry was approaching Voldemort while carrying a mocking smile.

"Ah, if it isn't the Dark Lord Voldemort himself, what an honor," Harry said.

Voldemort clenched his teeth hard with fury.

"You have not won yet, Potter!...or whoever you are."

"You know? i bet that the only reason You haven't tried to run away already is that you have sensed the wards I put down."

Voldemort didn't say anything but it was true that He had felt the wards that Harry had placed. And He was sure those wards would not only prevent the use of apparation but would also prevent Him from physically leaving the area.

'I will not humiliate myself by trying to run. I will defeat the enemy in front of me, or I will die trying.' Voldemort thought.

He pointed his wand with a swift motion.

"Avada Kedavra"

Harry moved his head to one side and avoided the curse.

"Tsk, no manners whatsoever, not even a courtesy bow before starting a duel."

After seeing that using directly the killing curse was of no use, Voldemort started to use combinations of spells to disable or entangle him.

Harry kept dodging, blocking, or deflecting his spells only using his hands.

"Who are you!. Where did you get so much power from!" Voldemort asked in frustration.

Harry just smiled at him without answering.

'He is just mocking me!' Voldemort thought, becoming more enraged.

"Enough of this!, I am the Dark Lord!. I will not be locked down upon. FIENDFYRE"

A giant basilisk made of the strongest flames came out of Voldemort's wand and rushed towards Harry.

Harry took his wand out of the holster and pointed it at the basilisk.

"Fiendfyre"

The temperature in the entire area rose up as the creature summoned by Harry flew into the air.

Voldemort opened his eyes widely at seeing it.

"This can't be…."

—------------------------------------------------------------------

Hogwarts entrance.

"WOW. Are you seeing that?!" Tonks exclaimed.

"How can we not see it?" Another Auror said.

Amelia was without words, looking at the sky like the rest of them. But the one that seem the most surprised was McGonagall.

She stared at the creature with awe.

"Is that really a…?"

—---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A colossal phoenix rose up from Harry's wand, it was easily five times the size of the basilisk and its extended wings seem to cover the whole sky.

It gave a cry as it moved towards the basilisk. The moment they collided, flames were spread everywhere and the temperature of the area rose even more. Forcing the bystanders at the entrance of the castle to start casting cooling charms.

The sky got so bright that they were all forced to close their eyes, and when they opened again, the basilisk was gone and the phoenix stood triumphantly, floating in the air.

Harry pointed at Voldemort.

"Go on, finish this."

The colossal bird immediately started moving at great speed towards Voldemort.

"Nooo!" Voldemort knew that running away was not a possibility anymore, so the focused all of his magic and cast the most powerful water spell He could muster, trying to stop the phoenix's approach.

The water evaporated before even toughing the bird and its approach did not slow down one bit.

Completely exhausted, physically and magically, Voldemort knew that this was his end.

As He looked at the approaching being of fire, He only said.

"I never had a chance didn't I?"

The phoenix exploded into flames after impacting the ground, where Voldemort was.

The fire died down quickly, leaving behind a charred corpse, surrounded by ashes.

—-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"It's over…the nightmare is over," Amelia said. Her hands were shaking with emotion.

"Yes!"

"The Dark Lord is dead!" The Aurors celebrated.

Luna saw that Harry was now descending from the sky at the other side of the bridge and she started running towards him.

"Miss Lovegood!" McGonagall called.

"Oh, leave her be, professor. The girl is smitten." Tonks winked at McGonagall.

—---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Harry was walking through the bridge when He saw Luna rushing at him.

As soon as she was close enough, she jumped at him and he opened his arms to receive her.

They embraced for a minute before Luna moved her head to face Harry.

"You had me worried for a minute there." She said, looking very serious.

"Really?, you thought a Dark Lord and his army would be enough to defeat me? Do I need to remind you?, I am H-"

"Harry Potter!" Luna interrupted him before she started laughing, all of the prior bad moments, forgotten.
