Chapter 98: Ritual

Dumbledore was put to sleep and had all of his belonging removed before the ritual started.

Harry then removed all of his clothes, walked to the center of the circle, and sat down next to the old man.

The idea of being naked next to an also naked Dumbledore didn't please him. But this was necessary. Any bit of magic in their clothes or other belongings could interfere with the ritual.

He then placed his right hand on Dumbledore's forehead before He started chanting the ritual in old Gaelic with his eyes closed.

The runes engraved on the ground started to shine more and more as the ritual continued.

This went on for a long time before the next change occurred. The materials that were put in specific places of the circle turned into pure white dust, and then flew towards Dumbledore, entering his body. Dumbledore's body started to emit a strong white light.

The light became more and more intense until it seem like the old man's body was made completely of light, losing its physical form.

Harry stopped chanting and opened his eyes. He looked at the current state of the Headmaster.

"It is time"

Dumbledore's body has completed its transformation and it was now made of pure magical energy.

Harry started to quickly absorb all of it into his magical core. It was like a vacuum has been placed on his lower abdomen as the light entered his body.

When all that was left of Albus Dumbledore was a mere speck of light the size of a golden snitch, Harry stopped the process and left the speck of light to escape.

"I did promise that I will leave you a little bit. So be it, go on your next adventure, old man."

The tiny ball of light stood there for a moment before rushing out of the cave and disappearing.

The ritual was over, but now Harry had to finish assimilating all of that power, otherwise, his body could explode, like a balloon with too much air.

He closed his eyes and focused on his core. The magic once belonged to Dumbledore was now circling his magical core as it rotated. Then it started to incorporate the new magic into it.

As this was happening, flashes of knowledge were entering his mind and Harry had to make full use of his occlumency mastery to organize all of this new information without damaging his mind.

The process took an entire hour to end. During this time Harry did not move from the spot.

When Harry felt that everything was in order once more, He opened his eyes.

A strong gush of wind flew around him, and wisps of magical power came from his body. His eyes illuminated the dark cave with green light.

When Harry examined the results of the ritual, He was very surprised.

"This is a lot better than I imagined."

Harry extended the index finger of his right hand and a ball of pure magic materialized in front of it.

"If I fire this, it would probably destroy the entire cave…"

He willed his magic back and the ball disappeared.

"I'll have a chance to do some tests soon enough. But first."

He made a hand gesture and all of his clothes came flying and dressed him once more. After collecting his belongings, He looked towards the few things that still remain of the old man.

Some ridiculous robes, portkeys, lemon candies, and…his wand.

Harry did not have time to observe Dumbledore's wand before, but there was a familiar feeling coming from it.

He called and the wand flew into his hand and when He observe it up close…

"It can't be! Is this the real one? !"

The mark of the Hallows was inscribed on the side of the wand. And the feeling that it was giving was very similar to the one made by the other two, already in his possession.

Harry started laughing.

"It seems that today is my lucky day."

He stores the wand in a secure place. There will be time for more examinations later, now He had one last promise to keep.

Harry took out his wand and tried to apparate close to Hogwarts, but there was something blocking him.

'Tsk, how annoying. It must be the wards.'

Harry put more force and finally managed to apparate away successfully.

"How are things?" Amelia asked.

"Everyone is scared and keeps asking me questions I don't have answers for," McGonagall said.

After the Aurors spotted the massive army trying to break Hogwarts wards, they informed Amelia and McGonagall and the two of them decided that it was more secure to bring all civilians to the inner gardens. It was also the only place big enough to host so many people inside the castle.

McGonagall looked around the entrance hall. It was almost empty, save for a few Aurors and some of the teachers. They were going to be the last line of defense, once the wards went down. Their faces showed how scared they all were.

Tonks rushed into the hall and everyone turned around to look at the young Auror making her way to Amelia.

"Any Luck?" Amelia asked.

Tonks shook her head.

"I tried all of the connected fireplaces, I cant communicate at all. We are completely isolated."

"I thought so…they came well prepared, those bastards!" Amelia frowned.

The noises outside got louder.

Amelia ordered them to open the gate so they can take a look outside.

"Be ready to close them when I order it." She warned them.

Once the doors of the entrance all opened, they all wanted to know what the situation was outside the wards.

"It doesn't look good." One of the Aurors said.

There were over two dozen giants armed with great clubs attacking the wards over and over, to one side there were trolls doing the same and behind them, many wizards were hurling spells at the barrier.

"How long do you think it is going to hold?" Amelia asked with clear worry on her face.

"At this rate…half an hour, maybe less. We need to find a way to secure the children." McGonagall said.

"I already asked two of my men to be ready. They will try to escape with the students using the back entrance. I'm sure they have placed anti-apparition wards around the area, but if they can get far enough -"

An earth-shattering sound was heard and then a strong wave of wind and dust pushed them all back.

"What is that!" One of the men yelled.

"Did the wards go down already?" Amelia said while trying to stand up again.

The area was filled with dust and she could not see anything.

"Nooooo!" McGonagall yelled. She immediately realized that the wards have been broken by whatever had caused that noise.

"This can't be! is too soon."

"Be ready!" Amelia yelled at her men.

They all took positions and pulled out their wands.

When the dust started to settle, they could almost make a figure, standing in the middle of the dust.

"Arg, that hurt. Did I hit something?" A voice was heard from the dust cloud.

McGonagall raised an eyebrow.

"That voice sounds familiar."

Amelia also seems to recognize it.

They saw the figure move his arm and then a gust of wind blew up all of the dust away, revealing a young man with long black hair and wearing a Hogwarts uniform.

"Harry?" Amelia wondered.

"Mister Potter?" McGonagall asked in confusion.
