Anne was sitting down on a black leather couch right next to Treasure. She was sipping hot coffee, and she was wrapped in a fur blanket to keep her warm. Thanks to Treasure, who took care of her like the sister she never had.
As soon as Treasure saw Anne looking so drenched she panicked that she might fall sick due to the cold and what made her more worried was when she noticed Anne, crying like her world has come to an end. Without any hesitation, Treasure took her in and made sure Anne had a hot bath. She also gave her comfy clothes to wear and kept those wet clothes Anne was wearing in a washing machine to dry them.
Treasure was just a sweetheart who wanted Anne to feel comfortable and warm and Anne couldn't be more grateful to her.
"Thanks a lot for the coffee… and for everything," Anne said.
"It's okay, it's the least I could do," Treasure responded.
"I know you must've been surprised to see me show up in your house late at night in that condition," Anne said.
"what can I say? This is New York, nothing surprises me anymore," Treasure said and they both laughed.
"I know we're not that close but seeing you like that got me really worried. If you're comfortable enough you can tell me what happened and maybe I can be of help," she said earnestly.
Anne slowly dropped her coffee on the center table and fixed her gaze on Treasure.
"Actually, I came here to see you because I needed someone to talk to. I barely have friends especially a female friend I can trust and I feel like you're the only one that I can share my burden with. And thanks to my brother who gave me your address so I could find you," she said.
"I'm glad that you trust me enough to share your problem with… but I don't think walking under the rain to my house was such a good idea. What if you catch a cold?" Treasure said concernedly but Anne shrugged with a gloomy expression.
"Anyways, spill. Talk to me, tell me what happened,"
"first of all, I feel like there's a hole in my heart..." Anne said as she placed her hand on her chest. "I pushed the man that used to love me unconditionally and now I'm in regret…" she said in a low tone meanwhile, Treasure was listening very attentively to her without cutting her short.
Anne briefly explained her love life to Treasure from the very beginning how she fell in love with Carlos who broke her heart and how she met Carl who swept her off her feet despite vowing not to fall in love again because of her heartbreak.
Anne started tearing up again as she talked about how jealous she was to see Carl with another woman. If she had known that another woman would easily take her place in Carl's life, she would've kept him to herself and never let him go in the first place.
However, Treasure had a little idea about the complicated love story between Anne and Carl but not in detail just as Anne has explained. She remembered asking Dexter if Anne had a crush on Carl some time ago when she met her at the hospital and after hearing the full story from Anne herself, it made her feel very sad for her.
Treasure shifted closer to Anne and gently placed Anne's head on her left shoulder to comfort her. She felt sad for Anne who was grieving for a man she wants but can't have him. Treasure didn't blame Anne at all for pushing Carl away from the start, she understood Anne's perspective that she was only vulnerable to unlock her heart for the second time.
"I don't think Carl has moved on in just two weeks. I think he's only trying to get you jealous, don't you See?"
"That's what I thought but Carl wasn't expecting to see me at the restaurant tonight. I don't think he's pretending. Carl no longer gives a damn about me," Anne said, sobbing silently in Treasure's embrace.
"So are you going to give up on him?" Treasure asked softly.
Anne paused for a while and sniffled her nose. "What's the point in fighting for him when he has made it clear to me that he doesn't want me," She said bitterly.
"hmm… well I think Carl wants you to fight harder. I think he still doubts that your feelings for him are true since you've rejected him once. I'm not taking his side but if I was in his shoes, I wouldn't run to your arms after you've refused me in the past. Think about it…" Treasure said.
Anne wiped the tears under her eyes with her fingers. She knew that Treasure was speaking sense into her stubborn head. She has rejected Carl multiple times in the past and now that she is in love with him, Carl needs her to prove herself to him that she truly loves him.
Treasure added "Also, asking Carl to meet you privately while he was on a date was a wrong move you know? You can't expect him to choose you instead of his date at that point and I also think that Carl was under pressure. So, if you truly love him like you say you do, you should sincerely pour your heart to him and maybe Carl would give in to you,"
"maybe?" Anne rolled her eyes with a slight frown on her face.
"I know we can't guarantee that but trying is better than giving up. Besides, I'm sure you're far prettier than the other girl he took out on a date" Treasure said in a serious tone.
Anne laughed softly at Treasure's remark. She felt better opening up to Treasure and after hearing her advice on how to win Carl's heart, she thought of trying her luck again but this time, she'll take things slowly.
Anne is madly in love with Carl and she can't give him up just yet even though there was another woman in his life. She needs to convince Carl that she truly loves him before he gets into a relationship with Cassandra.
Anne adjusted herself to seat properly and said to Treasure. "I'm glad I came here to talk to you. You're such a good listener and you're one of the most kindhearted people I know,"
Treasure chuckled "Really?" she said and Anne nodded.
"Thanks for the compliment, Anne. You can always come to me whenever you need someone to talk to and share your problems with. I'll be always here to listen" Treasure assured her.
"Thanks a lot, Treasure… uh.. by the way, how do you know so much about relationships advice,"
"oh," Treasure laughed. "I really don't know. Maybe it's because I read a lot of romantic novels so I always know what to expect," she said.
"good for you," Anne said.
"So uhm... I wanted to ask you... if by any chance does Dexter talk about me? Do you think he's fond of me? It's just a question," Treasure said feeling shy all of a sudden.
Anne's eyes beamed with delight and her mouth wide open.
"Do you have a crush on my brother?" Anne asked with a broad grin on her face.
"....." Treasure's jaw dropped and unknown to her, her face was turning red because she was blushing.
"Uh... no pff" She denied with a wry scoff.
"Aww, you don't have to deny it. I can see how your eyes sparkle when you mention his name and even those glasses of yours can't hide it,"
"Are you serious?" Treasure's eyes widened and Anne laughed.
"Can I tell you a secret?" she said and Treasure nodded.
Anne leaned closer to Treasure and whispered something in her left ear
Treasure gasped and her eyes brightened with so much joy.
"you think so?" Treasure exclaimed happily
"Of course. There's no day that passes without my brother talking about you. I'm sure he likes you a lot,"
Treasure breathed a sigh of relief and rested her head on the couch with a satisfying smile on her face. She has fallen in love with Dexter ever since they started hanging out and she can't wait to be his girlfriend. She has longed for that for quite some time now.
"you seem really happy, you must've liked Dexter a lot," Anne said.
"Yeah," Treasure responded.
"I think it's impossible not to like Dexter. I mean he's handsome, sweet, kind and he's such a gentleman. I am so lucky to have met a guy like Dexter. He makes me really happy and it was because of him I was able to come out of my shell" She said, smiling like a teenager who has fallen in love for the first time.
Anne stared at Treasure with a warm smile. She could tell that Treasure liked her brother a lot. "My brother is really lucky to have someone like you in his life. You're such a nice soul," Anne said sincerely.
Suddenly, the door crashed open and Kim walked in and shut the closed. He looked wasted as usual and he was reek of alcohol.
Treasure facepalmed with embarrassment as her brother showed up looking drunk. Kim was on a black leather jacket and classic denim jeans which were ripped in the knee. His drunk eyes were focused on Anne, staring at her pretty face and he had a mischievous smirk on his face. 'what an angel' Kim thought.
Meanwhile, Anne had a confused look on her face as soon as she saw Kim. She kept wondering to herself who the hell is this man and what was he doing at Treasure's house. She had no idea that it was Treasure's older brother. Although, there was something about Kim that made her strongly believe that she had met him before.
"Anne, that's my brother Kim and I apologize on his behalf that you're seeing him like this," Treasure said giving Anne an apologetic look.
"It's okay. I really don't mind," Anne said to Treasure.
"Hey, have we met? I believed we've met before," She said to Kim trying to remember where she had met him since he looked familiar to her.
"Yeah, I think we've met once. You look like one of the girls I had a threesome with" Kim laughed stupidly and Anne's eyes shone with disbelief at what Kim just said. It was obviously a lie but she was still shocked.
"Kim will you please SHUT UP?!" Treasure yelled at him.
"No, don't yell at him, can't you see he's obviously drunk? Besides, I was about to say that he looks like someone who stole my money a few weeks ago," Anne said sneering at Kim.
"No offense though," She said to Treasure.
"It's okay, no offense taken," Treasure replied. She hoped that Anne was only kidding because she knew in her heart that her brother was a thief.
Anne might have said it as a joke but Kim has stolen some money from her a few weeks ago while she was on her way to the grocery store. If it weren't for Kim, Anne wouldn't have needed Angelo's help in the first place. Anne was clueless about who stole her money since Kim did it with sleight of hand. He intentionally bumped into her shoulder and before Anne could react, he was already lost in the crowd.
Kim scoffed at Anne's comeback and he dragged his legs to his room.
As for Anne and Treasure, they spent so much time chatting and they both forgot that time has gone by and Anne ended up having a sleepover in Treasure's room.
