Apart from studying the relevant secret manuals, a pet beast's eagerness to learn skills is important, but what matters most is its talent.
There's a saying that goes like this.
"Talent determines the ceiling, effort determines the floor."
Sometimes, even with the best resources, if a pet beast doesn't have the right talent, it can't evolve to the upper limit of its species.
The same goes for learning skills.
Logically speaking, considering high-level skills is something pet beasts should start to contemplate only after they have evolved to a higher rank.
