30 minutes later.
Caroline sat silently at the back seat of the car as it sped on along the road. She was shivering all over not because of cold but fear. She was worried about what was happening. She contemplated upon all of this and wondered why her? She had innocently left home to go and check on her boyfriend Nick. She had just felt that something was not right, especially after Nick had called her early in the morning and she had not picked. Caroline had called again and this time round it was Nick who didn't pick, not once but three times. She had remembered their conversation the previous night which had ended prematurely. Nick had simply said he had a commitment that urgently called for his attention. Caroline had asked him to call again but his boyfriend had not. Then in the morning Caroline had done her laundry and while she was taking the clothes inside the phone rung. Then it went off before she could reach it. That is when she called him severally without him picking.
They say love makes two to be one to such an extent that you can feel your partner even when he or she is far- away. That is what Caroline felt. Although she had not known what was happening to Nick, she had felt in herself that Nick might be in some kind of troubles. The problem was that Nick had never told Caroline where he worked or what the does. So Caroline did not know where to look for him except to go to his house. One good thing is that she had been going there most of the time, so frequently that it had already become her second home. At times she went there in the company of her friend and cousin Vicky. At other times she went there alone and waited until Nick came.
Nick had become a very strong pillar in Caroline's life ever since they met at the party. He had noticed how determined and self-driven Caroline was in view of the roles she had to play especially in the issue of family upkeep. Nick came in to assist her in carrying the huge burden. Most of the time he brought them food and some cash. Then he provided clothes and shoes. Ideally he had taken up the role of the father and breadwinner albeit his age and their relationship, now that they had not yet officially married. But Nick had resolved in his heart that he will stand with them as long as he could and also he believed that he will marry Caroline.
The two loved each so dearly that they had become a talk among some surprised lips. Some said they were not a match and that they won't go any far in their relationship. Some said Caroline was only after Nick's money and that there was no love. But as they progressed people started seeing a difference and acknowledged that true love truly exists. Some parents started using her as an inspiration to many. Caroline too had a belief that fate had brought them together and that that is how they were destined to be. She too wished that he will marry her. In fact she was wondering when will Nick finally propose to her. She would give a ready positive answer without thinking again. Her answer of course will be a resounding "YES?
So when she had gone to Nick's house she was checking up on him. But when she went inside the house into the bedroom Caroline landed herself into the fire. Men with guns were waiting for her. They had then used her to bait Nick. They knew she would definitely come to the house and her voice alone would be able to draw the Man out. Caroline had no otherwise but to yield to the demands of her captors. She had made that call that sent Nick in less than ten minutes to reach where she was. Unfortunately, Nick was captured too by Jack. Then he had implored psychological tortures on him like putting Caroline in an unknown place in seclusion and hiding.
Caroline remembered seeing her lover's face when he came to see her that brief parting point. He had seemed so worried that he did not even finish what he was saying. She tried to listen to him but the guard had suddenly come and told him that their time for visiting and counselling one another was up. And he had taken him away. Soon she too was taken into a vehicle, blindfolded. She wasn't aware where they were going.
"Why me Oh God?" Caroline sobbed in her heart and asked herself so many other questions which had no one to answer. She finally resigned to fate and decided to let things unfold as they were doing. She did not have any slightest clue what Jack's intentions were concerning him. Then her mind went back to thinking about Nick.
"Oh no! Now who would remain with me if he is killed. Those people had guns!" She panicked again. She wished she could throw herself out of the speeding car so that she could get back to Nick. She tried the doors but none of them was giving way. She decided to let it unfold the way it would, no need to fight a losing battle.
On the other hand, Nick sat on the floor in his house. He was meditating though restlessly as he was concerned about Caroline. What would happen to her now that Jack had spoken so superficially concerning her. He had said something like taking her to different place. Then that he should not try to contact her in whichever way.
Nick felt anger rising in him over this man. He was so pissed off because this man was now controlling his entire life; choosing for him even who or who not to associate with. It seemed to him that Jack was the kind of guy who if he had the keys to oxygen, he would limit those who accessed it would allow it to be shared only to people of his choice.
"Surely! Why would I really have to kill you?" Nick began talking to himself.
Nick had been given orders which were really good and needed to keep. But he considered the dangers associated with not carrying the order out. He had been told to choose between the life of the soldier and his wife. Only one could survive, at least that is
After a while, Nick made up his mind. I need to save my girl. So he went into the bag and took the things he was given for this job.
"I have been through a lot. No more tears do i need." As he said these words, he left and went for the hospital where Tony had been. Tony was no where to be seen. Nick searched everywhere in the building. Finally he found makaratasi from the venue that told him where he was expecting. The papers told them the new place where Tony should be found. So Nick and some two others came to the place where they had been told he would be. It was a cubicle in the east wing of the hospital. This was a private wing and often highly priced.
Nick stationed one guy to be like a watchman to lookout for them all in case of any danger then he told the other to check on the previous position. So Nick entered the cubicle. Tony was lying there helplessly. At first Nick was dizzy and nauseating . Then he had gained courage enough to look at the body of Tony.
Slowly, Nick took out the epidermal needle he was carrying and moved cĺoser to the bed. He looked here and there in first sweep and concluded that there was no threat.
Nick looked at Tony for the last time and placed the edge of the needle on the right hand where you used to play with.
Just as he was about to exert pressure on the guests, there was a knock and in entered two police officers. What just happened nobody could explain. One female police officer spoke.
" Hey! What were you doing. This is private property." She asked. The other police officer just looked on.
"I am family" Nick spoke up in order to avoid suspicions.
The police officer looked at him and asked, "Step aside first. we need to know what happened here. Býtha way! Who knows what happened? But don't ran,"
"There was a little misunderstanding and this resulted but it was not so big"
"we are now taking over this case it will be dealt with which can bring the victims to justice without discrimination. Anybody who wants to visit must first clear with us! Out now!"
