A wolf in disguise
Adrianna returned back to her apartment and she was excited to break the news to her friend Cathy. After preparing the meal, Adrianna left the apartment to get her kids back from daycare. She was positive and radiating, knowing that most of her problems will get resolved by the money.
She picked her babies from the daycare and took them to the park.
"Layla and Asher, both of you listen… play in the park and later, i will get you both ice cream." Said Adrianna.
"Wow, ice cream… thank you, mommy!!!" Layla appreciated the offer and then they both went to play on the swings.
Adrianna watched them from the bench she was sitting on. She exhaled and picked her phone. She was going through her phone's gallery and looking at the photos when randomly a picture appeared and her eyes widened in disbelief. It was a picture of her sister, Laura along with Jason and her. The picture was from the camping night, from where everything in her life went down.
She looked at her kids playing joyfully in the park and she shook her head, cleared her mind and deleted the picture.
She was wrong, after looking and observing her two little bundles of joy, she realised that her life never went down. Infact, she got so much to learn and have in her life. Yes, the times were tough and will be tougher but she was glad for what she had. A smile appeared on her face. Suddenly, she felt being watched and turned around to saw a dog behind her in the bushes. She tried to clear the view and rubbed her eyes. She noticed that the dog had briliant golden eyes and darted at her. Moreover, she realised that it wasn't the dog actually, but a wolf. Her eyes widened in fear and she got up. Suddenly, the wolf disappeared and she wondered if she was hallucinating or not.
"What are you looking at, Miss Cosgrove?" A voice shuddered Adrianna to the core and she turned around and gasped loudly.
"Mr Black, what are you doing here?" She realised that her choice of words her poor and than she corrected herself, "I mean, I didn't expected you to be here." She was surprised.
"Yeah, actually I wanted to see kids playing around. Whenever I am in stress, i look for little companies around me. They are stress Busters.." said Mr Black.
"By the way, what are you doing here?" He asked Adrianna.
Adrianna stuttered when she was asked randomly of her presence in the park. She got no words to come up for a lie.
All of a sudden, her kids ran back to her and grabbed each legs, "mommy… mommy… ice-cream now."
Adrianna didn't wanted anyone to find out about the kids but her little secret was already out in front of her new boss.
"These cuties are yours?" He asked while bending down and smiled at them.
"Who are you mister?" Layla asked him.
"I am a wolf in disguise…" said Mr Black and Adrianna squinted her eyes.
Suddenly, she felt a similarity in him and the wolf she saw but she shrugged that thought off.
"Just joking, i am your mommy's friend, Xavier Black." His eyes went upto Adrianna's and locked.
"Come, we will have ice cream together." Xavier got up and the kids seemed happy.
"Mr Black, it's not required. You might have work to focus on. I will take them from here" Adrianna out her hands on her kid's shoulder.
"Please, don't call me Mr Black, i m Xavier and i would be more delighted if you call me by my name." Xavier looked right into her eyes and Adrianna felt something inside her.
That look was not ordinary but more than anything, she felt her soul to be touch through those honey suckled eyes. Xavier held Adrianna's kids' hands and carried them to the Ice cream parlour.
Adrianna seemed lost and smiled subconsciously when she saw how happy her kids were with Xavier Black. It wasnlike a dream came true for her kids.
"Have this…" Xavier offered a chocolate sundae to her.
"Thank you, Mr Black but i am not feeling happy about this." She admitted.
"Why?"
"I mean, you might had work and you are here with us. It felt wrong and awkward for wasting someone's time…" she sighed and closed her eyes.
"Hey!!! Don't ever say that. Your kids are wonderful and look how happy they are. By the way, where is your husband? Is he deported somewhere?" He asked randomly about it.
Adrianna's face turned pale and she averted her gaze, "I… I…"
"Master Xavier, we need to go." The assistant arrived and bowed to him before leaving.
"I am sorry, dear but i have to go. There is something important came up but it's a promise i will see you around." Xavier kissed the children and looked at Adrianna's with possesiveness.
She felt weird but smiled in return. After Xavier left without giving any reason for his arrival, Adrianna took her kids back and bathed them. They all had dinner together and the kids won't stop talking about Xavier. They started to had an attachment with him.
"When will your friend back, Mommy?" Asked Layla.
"He is not my friend, he is my boss and he is a very busy person. Today, he just got time so we met. I don't know the rest." Said Adrianna as she felt uncomfortable with Layla's repeated questions about Xavier.
"Now, it's sleeping time." She took them to bed and made them sleep.
She finished the chores and was about to go to bed. There was a knock at the door and she frowned, thought who could be at this time?
As soon as she opened the door, she gasped to see two red eyes piercing through her soul.
