Chapter 89 - Chapter 89: The Roar of an Alpha

Azrael Herrington was lying on his back in an unconscious state in a dim room with little light penetration, and beside him was April Herrington who placed an ear on his chest to listen to his heartbeat.

The other 4 humans stood around watching.

"Is he dead?" one of the humans by the name of Ing asked.

"No Ing, he is in a state of suspended animation..." the woman leader named Martha replied.

April was inattentive to their squabble, she simply knelt by his side and kept staring at his unconscious state as if that would wake him up at any moment.

Continuously streaming droplets of tears were streaming down her eyes as she watched him. "You don't deserve to be betrayed like this. You're a good man, with a good heart..." She suddenly let out before she bent down and kissed him on the forehead.

At this exact time, a light flashed and the room which was dim with little light was suddenly bathed in colorful lights that flooded everywhere.

As the light gradually stabilized, a figure could be seen in its ethereal form. This was none other than the spirit of Bianca Zul.

"There isn't much time, the maneaters are here, if we want to have any chance of defeating them, we need to wake up Azrael..."

She didn't say anymore before she flashed and appeared beside April. Before April could disagree, Bianca had stabbed the antidote into the body of Alpha Azrael and flashed away.

"Nice to meet you April..." Bianca Zul's fading voice sounded as she vanished.

Alpha Azrael remained motionless as the antidote got into his bloodstream.

Everyone looked in anticipation of him regaining his consciousness, only April was indifferent.

She held on to him like he would disappear at a moment's notice. She feared that Bianca Zul had somehow poisoned Azrael or made it worse.

Just as she was about to speak, the eyelids of Alpha Azrael started to flutter continuously.

His nostrils twitched.

Excitement could be seen on the faces of everyone present, their leader is back. However they didn't celebrate too soon, they needed him to be fully awake.

Just as they thought about that, a deep roar sounded from the throat of Alpha Azrael.

"Roooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrr" The entire Wolfsden shook in fear.

Everywhere was shaking and vibrating like the earth wanted to give way.

The members of the pack of Alpha Azrael who were still alive could feel strength enter into them.

Their leader regaining his consciousness filled them with such zeal and strength all of a sudden.

Even the humans too could feel a form of joy and confidence within them.

All across the camp, they started to gain little advantages against the maneaters.

The roar was fierce.

The leader of the maneaters was shocked by the roar.

"That roar sounded like the roar of the werewolf king, is Zanther Gosling here?" He got up from his lying position in freight.

At another part of the camp, Naomi Banks was about to be attacked before the roar came, and at that moment, the maneater got distracted affording Naomi the much-needed time to counterattack, and she didn't hesitate.

She slashed violently at the throat of the maneater, separating its head from its body.

Suddenly every werewolf started to turn the tide. In an unpredictable scenario, they started to draw strength from that roar and fight back.

The maneaters were shocked at the sudden turn of events. They had the upper arm a second ago and suddenly they were on the back foot, retreating.

Outside the camp, the escaping leaders also heard the fierce roar and were stunned for a second before they finally concluded that another Alpha was probably killed.

Londan Grey also heard the sound, he shivered because he was formerly a subordinate of Alpha Azrael and the compulsion to be subservient washed over him, indicating that his superior was very much alive.

"How did he survive...?" was all he let out before he put further distance between himself and the camp. "Eventually, the maneaters would get him..." He shrugged to console himself.

Back in the dungeon in which Alpha Azrael and the other five were locked...

Alpha Azrael sprang up like a maniac as his strength returned to him.

He looked around in confusion as his eyes, nose, skin sensitivity, and body temperature started to adjust to the atmospheric condition.

His eye settled on April who rushed towards him and hugged him tightly without scruples.

Azrael looked at her for a couple of seconds before finally hugging back.

"Londan....." was the first word Alpha Azrael uttered.

"He has probably left the camp as we speak. I doubt he is in Wolfsden. By the way, the lady that woke you up said that there are maneaters out there and that you're the only one that can stop them..." Martha responded.

Alpha Azrael took in all she was saying one by one as he listened attentively while April held him tightly in a hugging position.

Alpha Azrael lightly rubbed the head of April and cleaned the tears forming and streaming down her cheeks. "I'm here now... so cheer up" Alpha Azrael comforted her before pulling her gently from him and turning to face the others.

"We need to get out of here..." Alpha Azrael roared as he looked around the dim room.

"Well we are humans, so we don't have the strength to push open the stone door, but with your abilities, I think we stand a chance of doing just that..." Ing replied from the side.

Alpha Azrael looked at the stone door at the entrance and gauged the weight and the force needed to push it open.

It was indeed impossible for a human, especially an average-sized one to push it open, so Ing was correct on that, however for a werewolf and an Alpha werewolf at that, that would indeed be a piece of cake.

Looking at the stone door with a laser focus and a tailored concentration, Azrael rushed at the stone door and shoved his shoulders at it, while growling loudly.

The stone door suddenly creaked and cement dust started to fall all around the stone door before it suddenly gave way and split in half.

A half piece of the stone door fell on top of the other as a space opened for others to pass through.

"Yaaaayyy" The humans rejoiced as the space opened up for them to pass through, at that time the shadow of a figure could be seen coming towards the direction of the stone door.
