Azrael slowly opened his eyes in the infirmary where he was being treated. There was a drip pumping fluids into his system.
The entire place was blurry to him. His head felt like it was going to split apart. He grimaced in pain while he laid back on the tall bed provided in the room
There were so many top-of-the-art medical machines in the room, one could deduce that millions of dollars, if not billions would have been spent on obtaining these machines.
Azrael slowly allowed his eyes to focus and go beyond the blurry state.
Once he was able to focus, he slowly sat up, while gritting his teeth in pain.
The sound of his upper and lower teeth hitting against each other sounded like a rat eating away in a food cupboard in secret.
Azrael endured his head-splitting headache as he managed to move his legs to touch the ground. He looked around the infirmary wondering where he was.
"Alex... Alex..... Alex...." He suddenly started shouting as he recalled he hadn't heard anything about her or her whereabouts. He was truly afraid.
If anything were to happen to her, he would truly be unable to survive. He couldn't move much but that didn't stop him from screaming as loud as he could and falling against different parts of the room and objects placed around the room.
He suddenly stumbled and fell flat on the floor.
At this time a nurse entered.
She wore a white uniform with a small white cap with a red cross at the center.
The cap was a unique one that only stood in the middle of her tied hair like a crown.
The nurse's uniform was so neat, the white felt like it didn't contain even the smallest specks of dirt.
She entered and looked at Azrael with pity.
"Don't struggle so much, you were in a bad shape when you were brought here three days ago and have been unconscious ever since. I don't know who the Alex you're calling is, but I could inform the Alpha that you're awake..." The Nurse spoke Kindly.
Azrael looked at her and relaxed a bit. "No don't..., Don't tell the Alpha... yet..." Azrael thought it was Alpha Zuck who had brought him along so he wanted to be careful.
He didn't know the name and identity of this Alpha, but he knew the face well enough from their last and only encounter.
"Our Alpha asked that you be given the best of treatment. He even asked that he needed to ask you some questions, I think it would be good if he was made aware of your being awake..."
"What of Alex, where is Alex...?" Azrael was quick on his feet to change the subject and asked as his calm look started to change to that of hostility.
"You mean the girl that the Alpha was searching for, she must have been your lover. They never found her when the search party got there. She had either been taken or had run off, and every trace of her was hidden, no one could find or follow her trail..." The Nurse explained while checking Azrael's vitals.
Azrael now understood that this was a different Alpha from the one he thought.
"Can I see the picture of your Alpha...?" Azrael asked as curiosity got the better of him.
"Sure..." The nurse reached into her pocket and brought out her phone. She scrolled through a number of pictures before she got one and waved it in front of Azrael.
Azrael looked at the picture closely and saw that indeed, as he had suspected, this Alpha was a different Alpha from the one he suspected to be in charge.
This made everything even more confusing and now he had even more questions.
He could tell from the vibes the nurse was giving off that she was a werewolf, and it seems that he was in the wolf pack's headquarters.
"You love this girl?" The nurse asked Azrael as she studied his mood and facial expression.
"I would die for her..." Azrael responded without a second thought.
"Why don't you join our pack? With the backing of an entire pack, you will have more chances of being victorious over any other person who tries to snatch her. Besides, a war is coming, and there is a rumor that the werewolf king would return. As you can see, our Alpha is kindhearted, he would help you to get your lover back..." The Nurse suggested.
Azrael looked thoughtfully. He never had any interest in being a member of any pack. He just wanted to live a quiet and peaceful life with Alex, but as things turns out, without him being strong enough, it would be harder to win alone.
Azrael didn't want to make any rash decisions. He looked at the nurse and was moved by her kindness.
"I will consider your advice, but for now, I need to find Alex," Azrael responded.
"Alpha James is also searching for her, that is why I suggested that you join our pack. It would make the relationship between yourself and Alpha James smoother and you will be able to find her even more quickly with such strong collaborations." The nurse was a bit positive in her dealing.
Azrael paused and looked at the nurse closely, he discovered that she wasn't aware of the true reason why Alpha James wanted to find Alex. He then pondered, 'Has she been brainwashed? Could every member of the pack have been brainwashed?'
"Do you know about the legend of the Kannais?" Azrael asked, wanting to be sure of the extent of her knowledge.
The nurse furrowed her brow in confusion. "What is that? I've never heard of that." The nurse spoke innocently.
"of course, you haven't. There is a legend of werewolves cursed by a powerful witch called Bianca Zul...." Azrael went on to talk about the legend and the full involvement of the Kannais (Alex Bayly) and how it all relates.
The nurse kept changing her facial expression as she listened. She found it difficult to cast away the theory that Azrael just laid down because it had markers that relate to some of her experiences.
She looked at him with her mouth agape. She now understood why Azrael wasn't keen on joining the pack.
"Do you understand now why it's difficult for me to trust you or join your pack...?" Azrael asked as he looked at the nurse closely.
The Nurse nodded as she now understood the true weight behind the search for his girlfriend.
Then something popped into her mind that confused her, "If that is the case, why would you trust me with such a big truth, I am a member of this pack, you know it's impossible for me to hide anything from them if they find me suspicious..." The Nurse wondered as she spoke.
"I find you trustworthy... for some reason... I need to sleep now..." Azrael laid back to sleep without saying another word, while the nurse walked out in bewilderment.
What she just heard made her fearful and self-conscious about a lot of things. What she believed was far from the actual truth.
