Chapter 42 - Blame Game!

Azrael and Alex appeared in a strange place. The place was like Chinatown with people moving all around them.

Asians, Caucasians, blacks, and so many other manners of individuals were moving about, doing their daily business.

Azrael had Alex in his arms as he knelt on the floor. He couldn't tell where he was at all. At that moment he heard Bianca Zul's voice as it was fading away.

"This is all I can do for you Azrael... Stay safe and strong... I don't know if I will be able to return or when I'll be able to return but if I do...." The voice grew fainter towards the end and soon became inaudible.

"Aunt Bianca...." Azrael shouted as he got up and looked around, but she was nowhere in sight.

He sighed in sadness and got on his knees and turned towards Alex Bayly who was unconscious beside him.

His stomach grumbled in protest and he desired to search for any available eatery. He has transformed back to his human form after going through the transportation by the ghostly apparition of Bianca Zul.

He discovered that his senses were heightened. He could smell things that are hidden deep, he could hear sounds at an increased or enhanced rate, and he could sense changes in the atmosphere. His skin was tingling with various sensations.

His eyes were so sharp and piercing, they could pick out the slightest of movements. He was amazed by this new development. He also had increased strength and endurance.

He felt even more connected to Alex Bayly. Azrael Herrington could hear her heartbeat. He could sense the direction of her blood floor and every pulse in her body.

He could even sense the slightest of twitches, like her closed eyelid movement, the slight movement of her tongue, her unconscious nose twitch, or her fingers' slight movements or toe curl, it was a truly immense range of abilities.

"Alex..." Azrael spoke softly while he drew her close and she was cradled in his arms, "Wake up, let's get something to eat"

He discovered also that Alex has been completely healed after being transported, although he couldn't account for the reason for the healing.

Alex opened her eyes slowly and looked up at Azrael Herrington. It took her some minutes to adjust to her surroundings before she suddenly jumped up like someone stung.

"Azrael... are you okay... were you hurt.." She sprang up and started to search his body for any issues or injuries. Azrael was touched by her concern. She wasn't even concerned about her own bodily state but was instead worried about him, he felt his heart flutter.

He held Alex's hands a little tightly, preventing her from searching further. "I am fine Alex, let us get something to eat first, then we will find out where we are and what to do next..." Azrael spoke softly.

Alex wondered why he said the word 'find out where we are...' She raised her head and looked around observing meticulously her environment, it was then she discovered that she was far from the country she grew up in.

She wasn't in the country of Melbourne anymore, she wasn't even sure if she was on the same continent.

It was then that she discovered that this was a strange new place.

Back in the Alex Bayly residence...

Alpha Lucky has ordered his underlings to search every inch of the house but they could find or sniff no one else but members of their own pack.

Dr. Reece Cont started getting agitated. The only condition on which he will get paid is if Alpha Lucky gets what he wants 'but now that the target has escaped, what should he do?' he wondered.

Alpha Lucky frowned as his beta came to give him a report that Azrael and Alex had truly vanished into thin air. He knew he had no one to blame but himself. He clearly had them in his grasp but was toying with them.

He was not going to carry the blame, instead, he decided to point accusing fingers at someone else.

"You..." He pointed at Dr. Reece Cont. "You're responsible for all of this, you didn't tell me they had the ability to vanish into thin air or that the boy was a freak werewolf or something..." Alpha Lucky barked at him.

Dr. Reece could tell that he was being made a scapegoat and he couldn't think fast enough of how to counter this situation as it got soggier and messier...

"Al-Al-Alph....Alpha...Lucky, I didn't know all of these... I only pointed you in their direction because I thought you could handle such mere worms..." Dr. Reece Cont was quick to point out the difference in strength.

This put Alpha Lucky on the spot. If he were to complain then that means he is also accepting the fact that he cannot handle them, but if he let it go then he would have to take the blame for their escape.

Being put under scrutiny, Alpha Lucky felt conflicted. He had all the power and was in charge as the Alpha, but he could lose face in front of his pack if things went on like this, he felt things could even get so bad that some unfortunate ones may even want to challenge his position to become the next Alpha.

He suddenly roared at Dr. Reece Cont forcing him to shift unexpectedly. The shift was painful and before he could complete his shift, Alpha Lucky had appeared in front of him within seconds, sunk his claws into his neck, and pulled it out abruptly.

Dr. Reece Cont was wide-eyed, wondering how things escalated to this point. All he wanted to do initially was play it safe and smart and save his life but who would have thought that the route he took was to his own demise?

He transformed back into his human form and took his last breath.

Dr. Reece Cont was also one of the immortal werewolves and shouldn't have died, but the Alpha Werewolf, Alpha Lucky was already infected with the blood of the Kannais and was dying slowly, this was transferred into the body of Dr. Reece Cont who was a weak Omega, so it didn't take him long to die.

After the death of Dr. Reece, other members of the pack had more fear for the Alpha. If anyone had been contemplating challenging for the position of the Alpha, they quickly killed that idea after witnessing how ruthless he could be.
