Scarlett left class that afternoon and made her way to her car. In class, she had hardly even been paying attention. Her mind jumped at the thought that someone was watching her and that she would also need to invite her mother to join her tomorrow at school. This would not have been an issue if Edward had still been alive. She wouldn't even get judged the way October would judge her.
"Let's go. We are going to be late." Scarlett said.
As she hurried to Scarlett, Cornelia gave herself a small head scratch. "Where exactly did you say we are going again?"
"The telephone store." She turned her head in the direction of the school's entrance, but Avery was still inside. She gave Cornelia a second glance. "Where is Avery?"
"She said she wouldn't come along with us."
"Why?"
"She is still kind of mad at you for what happened this morning."
