He had not received any missions in the past two weeks. In addition to his own training, Wesley had been training three rookies. Sky was much more active now and was meticulous about physical fitness and shooting training. Wesley estimated that in another month, she could be handed over to Melinda for combat training. At that time, he could learn from her.
"Wesley, we have a mission!" Phil Coulson suddenly broke the silence. Another new mission had arrived, and Wesley was used to it.
The task of the special agent team was not difficult for him, especially when it came to fighting. Of course, there were some that were more difficult, such as luring out the guy called Clairvoyant. Although he knew who it was, he could not act rashly.
"What mission?" Everyone gathered in the second floor conference room.
"To receive our intelligence personnel, we need to go deep into the enemy rear and bring out the intelligence and people safely." Phil Coulson introduced the mission.
"A very cold place," Wesley said, reading the information. "It's simple. Just fight your way in."
"No, I need to be captured first and connect with the intelligence personnel. Then you and Melinda will follow closely and kill your way in to bring us out," Phil Coulson said.
"Why all the trouble?" Wesley asked, puzzled.
"You haven't been lurking, and the lurking work doesn't suit you, so you don't know about the lurking intelligence agents. They are very careful. Someone has to meet them first, and then they will act. Otherwise, it will be difficult to contact them."
"Understood." Wesley nodded.
The plane took off again. This time the distance was very far, and everyone was getting ready. Sky came to Wesley's side with nothing to do and sat down. "Is the operation dangerous?"
Wesley looked at her and said casually, "Everything is dangerous. That's what agents do. But you don't have to worry about anything with me here."
"Is it because you're one of the Avengers?" Sky was curious. She had ended one relationship and had no intention of starting another. However, she had always been curious about Wesley, but she had not been so obvious before.
"No, the Avengers exist only to deal with irresistible things, such as alien invasions, large-scale terrorist attacks, and so on. They will not interfere with the internal affairs of the earth, and I will act as an agent of SHIELD."
"What's the difference? The Avengers don't belong to SHIELD?"
"Of course not. Tony Stark is the only one besides me who is a consultant for S.H.I.E.L.D., which is only at the technical level. The Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. are in a cooperative relationship. Oh right, Captain America works for S.H.I.E.L.D. now, but there is a difference between him and me. He is in charge of operations, and I am now in the emergency team."
"That sounds complicated. Your computer skills are so good. Can you help me find information about me inside SHIELD?"
Wesley turned to Sky. She looked expectantly at Wesley, who shook his head. "It's better to leave this to Phil. I can't help you do such a thing. The internal SHIELD is very complicated now. I can't act rashly, or the consequences will be unpredictable."
"An internal problem? What do you mean?"
"You don't belong to S.H.I.E.L.D. agents yet. I can't tell you these things. Since Phil has promised you, he will do it, but you need to be patient. Without your record, there must be a reason for this. No one erases the trajectory of a person's life for no reason, so you must be special. As for how special, that needs to be investigated." Wesley lied, hoping Sky would calm down.
This operation was very simple. Phil Coulson entered the other party's base alone and was arrested, then met with the intelligence personnel. Wesley and Melinda followed closely behind and killed their way in. Finally, they brought him out safely without any problems.
The operation took less than thirty minutes before the plane took off again and flew directly to Washington headquarters. Sky felt that the operation was really simple, but she did not understand that this simple mission was actually guaranteed by strength.
It had been a long time since Wesley had been at headquarters. He wanted to call Maria Hill, but with Skye beside him, he could only give up the idea and pretend nothing had happened under Phil Coulson's strange gaze.
"Is this the S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters? It's really big." Sky sighed. She had not seen the factory in the underground part. Three space carriers were being assembled. Wesley wanted to see them, but the time was not right.
He got his ID at the reception desk and hung it on his chest, but Sky didn't. "Should there be one for me too?" Sky asked.
Phil Coulson said as they walked, "You're a long way from being a first-class agent, and the metal ring on your hand is a symbol of your identity." Skye's identity was awkward at headquarters. She was the object of prevention. Wesley smiled.
"But this is headquarters. If I can use a computer, then I can find my parents' information, right? They will put the information here."
Wesley frowned. He had already explained it to Sky. Why was he still so anxious? "Skye, didn't I tell you? Do you really think SHIELD is so easy to hack? If you use a computer to break into the database here, then you need to crack it all the way up from level one access. Do you think you can break through the mechanism?"
"But such a good opportunity…"
"You don't have a chance. When the time comes, we won't be able to protect you. You will be detained directly. This is the headquarters of SHIELD, and there are nine or ten levels of clearance. Phil is only a level eight agent. Do you think he can disobey orders? And our entire team is in trouble." Wesley's words were harsh, although they were a little scary. Phil Coulson knew that there was actually nothing wrong, but that was because their team was special.
Sky's thoughts were selfish. That was why Wesley was so harsh.
"I'm just… anxious." Sky's voice was much softer.
"Anxiety is not a reason. I remember letting you see the foundation of agents. Where did you see it? Remember, SHIELD is the largest intelligence organization in the world and has been responsible for extraterrestrial and mysterious things for many years. The technological power is not as simple as you think."
"Breathe…" Sky took a deep breath and suppressed the restlessness in his heart. "I understand."
