Chapter 40 - Marauder's Map

When the match was over, George and Fred didn't even attend the celebrations, but went to find Ivan instead.

Ivan also piled fifteen Galleons and a large amount of silver Sickles and Bronze Knuts on the table.

In accordance with the agreed-upon split, Ivan received forty percent of the proceeds, which amounted to six Galleons, nineteen Sickles, and twenty-eight Knuts.

Ivan's haul actually included a bet with Malfoy…

"That much?" George asked excitedly, looking at the money on the table.

They might have been able to fork out five Galleons in the past, but that was something that the two of them had painstakingly saved up over the years, unlike now, where they could easily earn that much.

"Wouldn't we be rich if we could do this every year?" Fred fantasised.

"Forget it. It's not a good idea to do something like that. Once is enough. Besides, the Secrecy Charm isn't really one hundred percent secret. If this goes on, something's going to go wrong." Ivan shook his head to dispel their unrealistic hopes.

George and Fred looked at each other, their smiles fading as they nodded cautiously.

"Of course, we don't want to get caught, and the money should be enough to get us started. Later on, we'll be able to earn Galleons by selling our joke toys!"

"We talked about it and decided to hire you as our special advisor. What do you say?" Fred's jovial manner returned at the mention of a joke toy, and the serious atmosphere was swept away.

"No problem, as long as I have the time," Ivan agreed without thinking too much about it. After all, there was still a magical item in the system column that hadn't moved yet, so he might be able to gain some proficiency with the Weasleys.

"We also need a bit of supplies, and we've prepared a present for you." George magically pulled a rectangular object out of his sleeve, folded it up, and handed it to Ivan.

"You can guess how it works," Fred said with a grin.

Ivan, naturally, recognised the Marauder's Map at once and, with a hint of excitement, took the parchment and laid it out flat.

Ivan was not surprised. He put the tip of his wand against it and spoke solemnly.

"I solemnly swear I did no good!"

The delicate lines of ink suddenly spread from the tip of Ivan's wand like a spider's web, reaching every corner of the parchment.

The moon face, the worm tail, the Padfoot and the pointed fork…

All of you gentlemen who specialize in helping magical mischief-makers,

A grand launch …

The Marauder's Map!

The moment Ivan got his hands on the Marauder's Map, he looked at the lively names on it.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione's names were in the Gryffindor Lounge, and Ivan guessed that they were celebrating a Quidditch victory, so he tried to look for them again and saw Peter Pettigrew's name nearby.

Ivan had always wondered in his previous life why the Weasleys, who had the Marauder's Map in their possession, had not seen a fellow named Peter Pettigrew stalking their brother for several semesters.

Now that Ivan had the Marauder's Map in his possession, he realised that it was not an all-purpose map.

Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that the parchment was too small, and Hogwarts too large, so that it could only roughly distinguish where everyone was, and that there were thousands of students, professors, and dormitories.

Ivan then searched for Quirrell to see if Tom Marvolo Riddle was next to him.

Soon after, Ivan found Quirrell in the professor's office, but he was the only one listed, perhaps because Voldemort was not really alive.

While Ivan was deep in thought, the Weasleys were impressed by his skill. When they first obtained the Marauder's Map, it took them a while to crack it.

"Ivan, you've used something like this before?" George asked.

Ivan shook his head and explained.

"No, I just happen to know something about the makers of the Marauder's Map."

"By the way, why did you give me something so precious?" Yvonne asked curiously. The Marauder's Map was of great importance to the Weasleys, who were keen to get things done at school.

It is safe to say that the Weasleys did not have to worry about being caught doing anything at school.

George's smile faded a little as he looked at the gold Galleons on the table.

"Fred and I don't know what you're going to do with all this money, but we're guessing that once you've got it, you're not going to stay in school.

We have noted all of the contents of the Marauder's Map. It will be more useful to you than us!"

"Yeah, well, we don't want anything to happen to the special advisor we just got," Fred said, patting Ivan on the shoulder.

"Thank you." Yvonne was touched, but she didn't thank him.

If he could in the future, he would try to rewrite the results of Fred's death, as the brothers were interesting.

"By the way, have you ever been to Hogsmeade?" Ivan asked, putting away the Marauder's Map.

"Of course. So that's where you're going." Fred was relieved. He and George had hesitated to give Ivan the Marauder's Map because they were worried that he would slip out of Hogwarts and go somewhere dangerous.

To her surprise, Ivan only wanted to go to Hogsmeade, where it was relatively safe.

The two of them did not hide anything and immediately told him everything they knew about Hogsmeade.

George and Fred used the Marauder's Map to sneak out of the house, but they never went out for too long, so their knowledge of the place was limited.

George hesitated for a moment before speaking solemnly to Yvonne.

"You may be the hero of Gryffindor, and you have slain a troll, but I must warn you to be careful. Wizards are not as stupid as trolls!"
