Chapter 3 - Chapter1: In the Kingdom (Rogue)

Zackary P. O. V

Who am I? I have asked myself this question, and I am unable to answer. That question has been bothering me in my mind. I have been moving from place to place, stealing and wrecking for me to survive in this cruel world. It is starting to be a routine in my life. I walk along the street, wondering how my life is so far in search of food. I am just an ordinary thief living in the farthest place nobody has heard of.

Rogues are usually dishonest and worthless people, and it's almost like being an outcast. At least, it's how I see it. I have been to other places, stolen and traded them for money. I go to the bar and casino and play poker. I am just taking a stroll as far as my legs can carry me, hoping to get something valuable. My back of my feet feel stiff probably harder than it was before, but my willpower prevents that. I might have been walking for what felt like a mile. It also helps clear my mind so I can come up with something. Then I stumbled on another part of this world. I looked around the place, walking past the gates and feeling a slight breeze through my hair and clothes. I keep walking and looking at the surroundings that are within my gaze, like the roads and buildings. I have to say they are well-built, and the workers did a great job. Different creatures walking along the streets, dwarfs, elves, and humans, are all here. I walked through the tiled streets keeping my head straight forward, but my eyes could see a portion of the road ahead. I checked my body, hoping that I had what I needed. I am carrying a long steel dagger and a length of rope.

I am used to walking this much o distance. It is a good exercise that strengthens the bones

"There has got to be something valuable here". I thought to myself after seeing this place.

I walk down the city street, looking for somewhere to steal from to have enough money to survive in this strange, cruel world. It seems that money is the only thing that matters.

I look around the city and see a store with a big rectangular transparent window display full of jewellery and goods. The store had a wooden door next to the display window. The body was painted yellow with a good foundation, and there was a diamond-shaped sign behind the jewels saying "priceless stones".

" I can get a more reasonable price for them, once I sell them, that is". I thought to myself, devising a plan.

In front of me, I saw men each in a suit of armour trying to remove a boulder that fell on a carriage. I noticed everyone was watching them. I checked the store to see if it was still busy.

The boulder seemed to be restricting most people's movement, but I didn't bother to look at the guards removing the boulder. After all, it is their job, so they should be able to handle it concisely and do well.

I was glancing at the store as well as the people. As I said before, I didn't bother watching the guards remove the boulder, and I knew they would handle it well. I am aware of this overconfidence I am showing, but I don't care.

Then without knowing anything else that happened, I noticed that the people were distracted, so I thought I could get those stones to get out of the way. I heard a loud shattering noise and felt a slight push. I was stopped dead in my tracks. I saw pieces of debris go by, landing on the ground around where I was standing, but they were too small to hit me.

After destroying the boulder, the guard looked at me from the corner of his eye. He was scanning me.

The guard was wearing a silver suit of armour with a red fabric made of soft linen. The silver armour reflected part of the sun's light ray's into my eye, making it more valuable and my part blind.

The guard held his sword, partly sticking out, walked by shot a look at me.

The guard removed his helmet. His face was light brown, his hair dark brown but arranged, his eyes red, and he was a human.

"Have a good day, stranger". He turned around and left.

A pointed-eared creature came behind me, asking me questions. I looked at him upon noticing his appearance. It looks like a dwarf though it's a male, brown-skinned with hazel green eyes wearing a leather vest with a tattoo on his right arm as well as a sword.

" My name is skoryim". He spoke.

I wonder what he wants. Is he trying to start a conversation with me?

"Hey, what kind of creatures are you?" I was curious to know

"Oh, I am a dwarvis". He replied

I gave a confused expression on my face. He explained further about that kind of creature, saying that they have ears like dwarves and know a little about a blacksmith but have a standard growth system.

I have never heard of those creatures before, but new things happen.

Now, I just stood there silently, not knowing what to say. He looked at me as if I had committed a crime or as if I would commit a crime. That last part would have been genuine if I did.

It doesn't seem like he can accuse me of anything.

I regain my composure and start to think of what to say. Do I say my name?

Eh, whatever

"I am taking a walk, and I am not trying to cause a problem."

"I don't think my name is of your concern". I plainly stated

I will call you zip". He replied.

"I am just puzzled by you. I haven't seen you here before."

Is he trying to find a way to recognise me

He is not seriously calling me that, is he? I continued walking

I breath an internal sigh of relief.

I bet he has somewhere to be and things to do.

I remember seeing a symbol on guard.

I look for a place to sit, my legs hurt, and I found a bench opposite a well.

I went close and sat there for a while.

I saw a lady holding a basket full of apples. My stomach growled. I wonder if she wouldn't mind sparing one for me.

I walked up to the lady, and she was wearing a white linen garment below a brown vest and a white cap made of linen.

I saw an apple fall on the floor. I quickly grabbed it. She came to collect it. Then my stomach grumbled. I asked if I could charmingly get an apple. She looks a bit chubby

She didn't reply. I guess she heard my stomach making a noise. I turned around and took a tiny bit out of the apple.

"Hey". Someone called out

I turned back. She came back, offering another apple. I told her I didn't have money to pay, but she didn't mind and allowed me to go.

A smile appeared on my face sitting in gratitude.

I stumbled upon a garden a while later, seeing buildings go by. I went under a tree and sat down. Now is how I would even be able to get the jewels. I am still in the garden. I think of a plan, then hear screams from my far left. I see people gathered around a tree.

"Ahhh!". I hear the voice of someone screaming. The vote was not that deep but well heard.

I went to the scene, but I couldn't get a good view of what was happening. I saw a tree on top of a body. Two guards arrived at the scene. They lifted the tree, removed the body and examined it here. I saw the body. It is a female. Her fair face seems mangled, and her body looks lumpy. It might be possible to save her.

I saw that dwarvis from earlier; I guess he was nearby to hear the scream.

"Was he following me or what"

"Who is he as in his job or something". I asked internally asked myself. I don't want to be seen by him.

I was curious about what could have happened.

I wonder how the security is around here.

I would never do that unless otherwise. Then, they approached four guards to help take the maiden and examine her.

" It seems that her insides have been crushed. There were blood stains on her mouth." I hear one of the guards comment on the situation.

I went on my search for more other trees to eat from as my pursuit to quench my hunger. My stomach wants to be satisfied first, which I am obliged to obey. I can't steal on an empty stomach.

As I walked, I saw a man wearing a cloak covering his head to toe. I caught a glimpse of his face and saw the direction he was going.

I heard noises like swords clashing. I looked over there. It was in between shrubs that couldn't make it out, though.

I crouched down to avoid being seen. It looks like I recognised one of them

That's a guard, and she "cause not sure on the gender."

Anyways, the person has outnumbered two against one. The guard was good, but the person lost.

"zip". I heard from behind, and I knew who would call me that name. He crouched down beside me, seeing what was going on.

The two people were that cloaked guy I saw earlier. The other vanished in a puff of smoke. The cloaked guy was on his own and escaped.

A guard came behind us. I turned around

"Hey, we should chase him". The dwarf, I mean dwarvis, said, putting his arm around me.

"What".

"You want me to join you and go after them". I exclaimed, a bit shocked.
