The late afternoon comes sooner than expected since time flies by when I am drawing, curtains and windows open and with that, the uncharacteristic cool afternoon air comes breezing through my room. My drawing— rather a sketch is of a girl with short wavy hair and big doe eyes. She sits next to a strange man with long hair hung over in front of his narrow face. His legs are long and slender and hers are short and thin.
He looks at her with a gaze that could only be terrifying if it weren't for the fact that she loves him.
I toss the pencil aside and heave a long sigh, I sink into my wooden chair. I bite down on my lip as my mind whirls over the thought of Jace.
He reminds me a bit of myself, with the same look of pain and anguish. The regrets and hurt in his grey eyes come all too familiar for the likes of me— for the likes of me. I find myself questioning if people want to be around me for the sake of being around me or if is it because I am tainted, or damaged. They all probably feel sorry for me. Poor Lucy— I can't believe she had to go through that. I just can't believe it.
They all think that I'm broken... but maybe that is making me even more damaged than I already am. I get up from the table and plump myself onto the bed to scroll through my social media accounts. I am unfortunately now following Melody on the app. She sends me direct messages urging me to post more for some reason. I just send a smiley face knowing perfectly well I won't do that. I only have one post of myself and I am not even alone in that picture that has only twenty-seven likes— my brother Max happily posed with me in that picture that was taken by Tyler in the arcade back in New York. I raise my one brow as I go to her page. She parades herself in that app with an impressive amount of three thousand followers.
She is stunning in all of her pictures and looks like she could be famous herself. I then see a guy that she poses in one of her later posts and I go into his tag. He has light brown hair and dark green eyes. I take note that his name— is Jack Tomas and I wonder if this is a current boyfriend of hers or maybe she just had forgotten to take the post down if he is her ex.
He is very stylish with a silk button shirt and black trousers and leather boots. Black nail polish and a silver bracelet on his right hand.
I scroll to his latest picture and it is taken in twenty sixteen. I frown.
Why one year ago?
I then go all over to his other post and there I see it. A picture he shares with Andrew and Jace... they were friends? I question.
They all wear large smiles on their faces as they look as happy as can be. I frown, Andrew never mentioned that he was friends with Jace, but then again he did know a little too much about him, if I may add.
I then head to Jace's tag and click on it and to my surprise, it is a very active account with a whooping amount of followers— my eyes widen to see that he is even verified. A grandson of a famous billionaire.
I go to the latest post and it is of him playing the piano. My eyes float over to his long delicate pale hands touching the keys of the piano ever so gently, I wish that it was a video instead of a black-and-white picture. I then scroll down to the next— it is him at the bookstore. He has an apron on— the bookstore's employee uniform. I let out a little surprised gasp. Does he work at the bookstore? I frown— why would he do that if he is a grandson of a billionaire... strange, but that explains why I seen him there. I examine the picture carefully. He is absolutely and utterly beautiful.
I frown just pondering on the thought as to how this man could be so seemingly perfect. He is rich and somewhat famous and not to mention his astonishing good looks. One would say by all these pictures that he has it all.
I then scroll to the next one— he stands in a suit and tie. He is next to his Grandfather and Grandmother, his grandfather has dark blue eyes and his grandmother has green eyes— Jace has a little smirk on his face as he stands in between what I believe are his grandparents and towers over both of them with his height.
I smile at the picture as they all seem perfectly happy. My finger moved to scroll to the next post and to my surprise and my clumsiness I double tapped and I liked his picture. I let out a small scream.
I quickly unlike it— I hope it doesn't show. I hope it doesn't show!
After a minute has gone by, I desperately try to convince myself that he will not see it and that he has countless followers so he could not possibly have seen it. It's just impossible!
I quickly attempt to gather myself and then grab the phone and my jaw drops to the ground as I see that I have gotten one direct message from none other than Jace Harrison himself.
"So you're stalking me now?"
I bite on my fingernail as I have read that awful sentence about seventy times now.
What do I say what do I say?
Well, you see it just so happens that I have stumbled on your social media account. But I am not stalking you. I should say that— no I definitely should not say that. Not a chance!
I chew on my lower lip as I think of a perfect excuse to say to him— besides the truth, yes the truth will sound like a terrible lie. Oh, I was just curiously stalking people when I stumbled upon you— you know because I am bored! No, the truth is far from off the table!
Then he starts typing, "What are you doing anyway?"
I swallow— so shouldn't I clear the air and say I wasn't stalking him or should I just answer this? I frown what do I even care anyway he is just a jerk!
"Firstly I wasn't stalking you secondly it's not your business." I type and then send, and with a little proud nod I put down the phone but then I see him typing again.
"Okay, whatever... Did you eat?" He asks.
And I scoff, is he trying to be funny? "Did I eat? What a gentleman. Who would have thought?!" I hope he can hear my sarcasm through the phone. But then I frown as I begin to think if I did eat today.
I then turn to the curtains and the late sun is seeping into my room, I frown, I was in my room drawing the whole day— I didn't even move an inch let alone go and get something to eat. My eyes then widen with a wild thought, I then gasp and run over to my desk. I forcibly turn my head to the left and there I see him. A clear view of Jace's window if I may add.
My mouth is open in shock, as I see him there sitting on his bed and typing on his phone— what a clear view, I squirm. Not too soon after I then hear my phone vibrate as I get a message. Most probably from him.
"I'm hungry, wanna grab something to eat?" I read and then look up to his room and our eyes meet. So you were watching me this entire time Jace Harrison?
