Chapter 14
This was the first time I've been in his room. At first glance, it was pretty…normal and organised, definitely not what I would expect from him.
"…you're not mad that I jumped off the roof?" I looked at him suspiciously and he just glared at me.
"…I would have let you fall, but then, you wouldn't be able to answer my questions…" his tone was icy cold as he got comfortable in bed. I couldn't help but laugh at his answer.
"off course…well, ask away…"
"hm…firstly, how many powers do you have?" he leaned his back against the wall and propped his right leg up as he rested his arm on his knee.
"…three.." I answered back and his mouth hung low.
"three? But that's not possible, most heroes have one, if they are lucky, two…but never three…" I explained to me and I shrugged.
"…I guess I'm just super lucky, I guess…or maybe unlucky…" I sighed as he leaned into the chair.
"…what are they, the other two I mean…I know you have telekinesis…"
"telekinesis is my first and probably most dormant power, along with manipulating of a person's consciousness…but that doesn't make the others less effective…I don't know if you've ever heard of hyper realistic…"
"what is that?"
"unlike basic manipulation where I can alter a person's thoughts and actions, hyper realistic…it's like an advanced level of manipulation…" I calmly explained it in a way and manner that felt sane.
"…hyper realistic. So how exactly does it work?…" he asked again and I looked around his room. I couldn't really explain this one, it needed to be shown.
My line of vision finally fell on a couple of books on his table and one of them had a picture of an apple on it.
"…mind if I used this?" I took his permission and he nodded. "look carefully…" his concentration on the book in my hand was adorable. Tapping on the surface three times with my index finger caused a ripple effect on the book. Dipping my hands into the book, I pulled out the apple.
"…this, is hyper realistic…"
Xerxes leaned forward as I rotated the very real apple in my hands. I threw it at him and he cut it with ease as he analysed it.
"incredible…so, this is a real apple?" he asked and I gave him a nod.
"…taste it then tell me what you think…" I urged him. He had a sceptical look on his face as he looked at the apple, then at me, then back at the apple again before taking a bite from it…
"!!!well no shit…it really is an apple…"
"haha…yeah…it's a pretty handy power…"
"definitely, but why haven't you ever used it before and does seagrave know about it?" he questioned me further and I shook my head.
"I'm trying to stay under the current, just imagine the kind of publicity it would bring if people knew about it…"
"hm…that's true I guess…" he thought about it as he played with the half eaten apple, before taking another bite from it.
"…what about that pen, you called it the amplifier …what's that all about?"
"well, exactly what the name says. It's a power amplifier, specially made for my hyper realistic, it's like drawing out the image in my head out of thin air…"
"you didn't happen to bring it along, did you?"
"no, it's still in my room…" I couldn't carry it everywhere, after all it was the only one of its kind and very fragile. He looked very disappointed when I told him I hadn't brought it along with me.
"…damn, I really wanted to see that katana and you even know how to use a gun? That's pretty bad ass…" I've always been used to his harsh words and cursing, but hearing him praise me like this made my cheeks burn.
"…thank you…"
I let out a tired yawn, which I hid behind my hand. I'm guessing it was already past midnight now.
"I think I should go back to my room now…" I stood up, getting ready to leave. But xerxes thought otherwise as he made space on the bed for me to get in, but I stood where I was.
"what's the rush, it's not like we have classes tomorrow anyways…" he reminded me and I made an 'o' with my mouth. I totally forgot about that, the principal decided to give the students a two days break because of the little incident that happened during the weekend.
"…well, it's still against the rules for a girl to stay over in a boys room and you know that…"
When it came to the rules, P.S.A were pretty strict about it. Xerxes shrugged asif he couldn't care less about it.
"…who's gonna know, besides, if you left now, you'd probably meet that creepy guard , night owl, that stays in the lobby and wouldn't it be more difficult to explain why you're leaving the boys dorm building by twelve in the night, that's pretty scandalous if you ask me…" he was enjoying this. Sometimes I wonder if this boy was truly born to be a villain rather than a hero, but alas he had a point, even with my stealth I wouldn't be able to get past the night owl and the doors to the roof would be locked by now. I sighed tiredly as I dragged my body sluggishly towards the bed and got in and placed my hands on my stomach.
