*three years ago*
The night sky was dark and brooding as the clouds high above were ready to burst with heavy rains, thunderous sounds shook the grounds that surrounded a heavily guarded fortress. In the fortress a woman cried out, that woman was my mother.
"LET GO OFF HER YOU SICK BASTARD!" she cried out, while I desperately tried to free myself from the man who held me, it was my father.
"she' s my daughter too and I will do with her as I see fit…" his tone was cold, lacking warmth as those cold eyes looked down on me. I knew what would happen to me, it was my fault for skipping my training, now I would have to bare the consequences of not following his instructions.
"you're hurting her please, let her go" my mother cried once again, the look in her eyes was that of helplessness. I could tell she was sick of watching me get tortured day in day out, I was also sick of it. But I couldn't go against father, although there were times like these when I would stray from his rules.Â
Darius Lamont, a shrew and cunning man, a notorious super villain who ruled with an iron fist, he wanted to shape me into the perfect super villain so I would one day take over the family business. Yes, I come from a long line of super villains, each one more ruthless than the last, from my great-grand parents, to my grand parents, my parents and then me, so yeah, I'm pretty sure by now you've gotten a good idea that they all had pretty high hopes for me, but I don't want that life.
After pleading with him, he finally let go of my arm, I could still feel the stinging pain on my arm, I'm sure it's going to bruise by tomorrow. My mother took me and left in a hurry, thinking he might change his mind again. And as usual, I was forced to skip yet another meal. But mother was there to rescue me, she had my dinner brought into the room without the consent of my father. She wasn't like the others, my mother was kind, Thekla Lamont, the wife of Darius Lamont.
❤️
"eat up darling.." her voice was reassuring and kind. I had previously tried to act tough in the presence of my father, but there's only so much a fifteen years old girl can handle.
"mama…I'm scared" I began to sob softly as I ate my dinner
"shhh darling…there's no need for tears, I promise I will get us out of here soon, you just stop shedding tears, you're my strong girl." Those were the words she said to me as she brushed my cheeks with her thumb. I nodded, even if I didn't know how she had planned to escape, I only knew it wouldn't be easy. With Darius being the most wanted and hated man alive, the fortress was built so that nobody could get in nor get out without the most proper authorization.
That night I went to bed, I fell asleep in my mothers' room and about 1am in the morning I heard whispers.
"Leah .. Leah .. wake up darling" I heard my mothers' voice as she shaked my body.
"m…mama?" I woke up, scratching my eyes with the back of my palm "what's going on?" I asked her.
"it's time to go.."
"go where?"
She smiled at me warmly, while cupping my cheeks in her hands "away from here…now up, I've already packed our things, hurry" she urged me as I got out of bed. Did she really mean it? Would we really be leaving this place? *meow*
"you too storm.." storm was our cat, had she been in here all along? Doing as I were told, I put on my jacket and trainers and grabbed the cat and my packed bag. Waiting for her, to give the cue.
"ready?" she asked and I nodded
"ready.."
She cracked her fingers back then stretched her arms forward. I watched her in awe, its' been long since I last saw her use her powers. The air around us began to move the small things in the room till they were spinning round us, my hair kept getting in my face as i held unto the cat, suddenly blue lights started to emit from her finger tips as he eyes glowed blue as well. She was trying to create a portal large enough for all of us to pass through it.
*KNOCK*KNOCK*
My head snapped towards the door, oh no. I thought to myself, the knock became more persistent.
"Thekla-san?....is everything okay" the man who had been keeping guard outside asked as he kept banging on the door trying to open it, but I used my telekanisis to keep the door secured, but for how long it would last, I did not know.Â
I could tell my mother was trying her best to speed up the process, but there was only so much she could do with the little power she had left. This wasn't the first time she had tried to escape from  this place, so as a precautionary measure, Darius had been absorbing most of her powers to avoid her escaping, especially with me, but my mother was a smart woman, she most have found a way to avoid her powers from being absorbed by him.
*BANG*BANG*BANG*
"Thekla! Thekla!! OPEN THE DOOR" there came the loud voices of the gaurds who were trying to break down the door, I tried to hold out for as long as I could, buying my mother the needed time she required.Â
"mother?" with every shake the door made, the more I panicked.
"don't worry darling…it's almost ready" she said to me and I nodded, turning my full attention to the door. I tightened my grip on the cat because of the overwhelming anxiety I felt. I couldn't read the expression on my mother's face, but I could tell she was worried, because if she were to get caught, father would most likely keep me away from her, neither of us wanted that to happen.
*CRASH* THE DOOR BROKE DOWN AND TWO MEN RUSHED IN
"HEY! CALL FOR BACKUP AND INFORM THE BOSS NOW!" the first man roared as he rushed towards me, while the second man did as he were told.
"YES!" I heard my mother rejoice as she had successfully opened a portal wide enough for us to pass through "LEAH!HURRY! JUMP!.." I didn't hesitate to do what she said. I dodge the man and ran straight for the portal, I jumped through it. My mother on the other hand, pulled out a gun and shot the man that tried to attack me, in the head. More and more men began to pour into the room and she just kept shoot as she moved closer to the portal and also kept them away from it.
"STOP" One man yelled as he tried to use his powers on her, but she shot him in the hand.
"tell Darius I said, he should go fuck himself.." there was a satisfied look on her face as she said that, but what she failed to notice was that one of the men had pointed a gun at her and it hit her. But once she noticed this, she sent a bullet of her own and killed the man instantly, while she jumped through the portal. Just as the portal was about to close, Darius burst into the room to see his wife disappearing, she had a smile on her face and he had a scowl.
"THEKLA! NOOOOOOO!"Â
The portal closed forever. My happiness knew no limits, but all that changed once my mother collapsed to the ground, bleeding profusely from her side.
❤️
"MOM!" I cried out as I ran to her side, I didn't know what to do.
"I'll be fine, its just a little gunshot wound, I've survived far worst injuries than this.." she smiled up at me as she tried to get up. Right now, all I could do  was take her word for it.
"I'm just a little exhausted from creating the portal…" she said to be as she got back on her feet. Putting her bloodied hand on my shoulder, she said;
"welcome to our new home, Leah"
That's right, I had been too preoccupied with her injury to notice the place she had brought us too.
"I promise he won't find us here.."
