"move your ass!" xerxes yelled at me as the cab he had dragged me into, even after I protested on our little trip to arcade, came to a stop. He paid and the cab drove off. Now we both stood in front of the arcade, its bright neon lights shined on our faces.
"I can't wait to crush you…" he declared and I popped the bubble in my mouth and rolled my eyes and said.
"as if..do you really believe you could beat me?"
"wanna bet?" he scoffed and I began to question if this boy had been a gambler in his past life and I also began to question my own past life as I readily responded to the topic of betting.
"what's your bet?"
"if you win, assuming you win…I'll let you have my dessert for the next two weeks…" he grinned and I stared wide eyed at him.
"on soba week?" I needed to be certain he wasn't kidding, because everyone knew how much he loved his soba.
"yeah…"
"and if you win?"
"WHEN I win…" he said confidently with a toothy grin as he pulled out a…button. Not this again.
"…you, my dear, will get to wear this one in a million, limited edition…xerxes is the best button…" .
Okay, I take back what I said about him being a gambler in his past life, I am certain this boy was a door to door sales person, selling garbage as gold to people -_- -_-.
"hmm…make it three weeks and you've got yourself a deal…"
"three weeks it is…"
Finalising the bet, we walked into the arcade. The sounds and pings of different games echoed around us. And to make things "fair" xerxes let me pick out the game I wanted and off course I picked the one that required the most endurance and concentration from its players.
"DANCE-A-TON? OH ITS ON!" he said excitedly and I wondered if I had made a mistake. Xerxes couldn't dance, right?
We paid for the tokens and stood in line, once it was our turn, we took our respected stations and selected the dance style, hip hop. The game started off smoothly and when I looked at him, it looked like I would be winning after all.
"NICE COMBO!" the male voice on screen congratulated me. And I swelled with pride as he danced my heart out. I looked away from the screen again and see xerxes got better? Wait, what?
People started to surround us as the battle became heated, they were cheering and clapping, this seemed to boost his ego as his scores and moves just kept rubbing off on mine. Oh hell no..i picked up my pace as well. But he wasn't slowing down. Soon became tired as we reached the final level, but I wonttt give up!
"FINAL ROUND..!" the announcer sounded excited and so did the crowd as they kept cheering us on. Were my feet smoking? I bet they were…
"K.O WINNER! XERXES!" the announcer declared him winner and my knees crumbled, both in exhaustion and defeat. I could hear that stupid laugh of his and the people congratulating him.
"loser.." I heard his voice and I looked up with a scowl. His hand was stretched out towards me, but I slapped it away.
"tch"
"aww..don't be a sore loser…" he rubbed salt into my wound and I got up. To make things worst, some junior high girls came giggling as the pushed pass me. I hissed like a snake.
"you were awesome.." the first girl said
"yeah, can we get a picture?" the second girl asked and he shamelessly agreed, that should have been me.
"see you later girls…" xerxes waved them off with his fake charming smile.
"tch…"
"what…don't tell me you're jealous of me, or is it that you are jealous of the girls…" he had a smug look on his face and I scoffed.
"as if…I can't believe you actually beat me…" I grumbled as I walked pass him.
"better believe it vivi.. I believe we had a deal"
"ugh!" I groaned as he brought the button to my face. I yanked it out of his hand and hissed, reluctantly, I put it on…for…world…peace.
"I'd say that button is an improvement to your look…"
"one more word from you and you'll be kissing the under of my boot…" I threatened him with an irritated smile.
'I'd rather kiss your lips…"
"what?"
"what?"
"…"
"…"
"tch…weirdo…I need a drink and maybe something to eat.." I said to him as I walked ahead of him.
"okay"
Lucky enough, there was a food court by the corner. I walked past the man that was ahead of me, but he didn't like that and I didn't care.
"hey! Wait in line kid…" the man grumbled and I stared at him with cold villainous eyes. This look instantly shut him up.
"huhh? Did you say something gramps?"
"ah, n..nothing, please, go ahead…your friend too…I can wait…" he sweatdropped and I turned back to the man who would take my order. Xerxes looked shocked. Did losing one game really put off my mood? No, that couldn't be it. After all she had changed her mind about the arcade, did something maybe happen before he met her?
"two bowls of extra spicy ramen and a coke…" I ordered my food and looked back at xerxes.
"did you want something too?"
Oh? The two bowls were for her, well, that figures.
"um one bowl of spicy ramen and a coke too…"
The man who was taking the order smiled at the young couple and served them their food, which they took to an empty table. The man who had moved for ivy could now breath.
"youngsters these days sure are scary…"
"you can say that again, gramps…" the shopkeeper nodded in approval, but the man frowned.
"who the hell are you calling gramps, I'm just thiry five…"
"seriously OoO"
We both sat at an empty table and I begin to slurp down the ramen hungrily. Having food in my stomach seemed to calm my rotten mood a little bit.
"I didn't know you could dance.." I said with my mouth full of ramen.
"you shouldn't talk with your mouth full.." xerxes scolded me as he pointed his chopsticks in my face. I blushed a bright shade of red when he pointed out my bad table manner, I didn't even drag with him on it.
He broke the chopsticks and stirred his ramen.
"I'm just better than you at everything.." he looked at me dryly and I clicked my tongue.
"not everything…"
"are you actually upset about losing the game?" his question was sudden and my hand stopped midway. I slowly slurped down the noodle that was hanging from my mouth then cleared my throat.
"that…no, I'm not upset about the game…"
"then why do you look…grumpy, more than usual…did something happen?" I stared motionless at him. His concern touched me. I couldn't tell him the truth though, so I just put up the best smile I could muster up.
"everything is fine…"
"hm…well I don't believe you one bit, but it's none of my business, so I'll let it go…"
"thank you…"
"BUT! Don't go around scaring people with that look in your eyes, you idiot…they might start thinking you're a villain.." he kicked my foot under the table and I cried out.
"OUCHH!...villain?" how long has it been since anyone said that to me…I stare at him blankly, before I burst out into series of giggles.
"what's so funny you idiot? I'm serious…"
"heh..i..i know you are, and don't worry, nobody will get to see those eyes again.." I smiled brightly at him, but he didn't say anything.
Has she always been this cute? Xerxes asked himself as a light shade of pink dusted his pale cheeks. He shaked his head to get the thoughts out. This was the second time today he's thinking about her like that…
"whatever…"
I was already done with my first plate of ramen and now my second plate is almost empty.
"where you a cow in your past life…?"
"what's that supposed to mean you jerk!?" I growled at him as we locked eyes.
"what normal girl slurps down two bowls of ramen so quickly…"
"tch..you would know…" I picked up the bowl and lifted it to my lips, then placed it down. Completely ignoring the looks he kept giving me. "are you gonna finish that…" I shamelessly asked him for his bowl and he bowled it back.
"how can you still want more…."
"I'm starving, okay..all that dancing took a lot out of me…" I defended my honour as he continued to look at me with disgust.
"WHAT'S WITH THAT DUMB LOOK!"
"YOU'RE THE DUMB ONE, YOU COW.."
"TAKES ONE TO KNOW ONE"
Our loud bickering made everyone stare at us with shock and probably distaste. Two future pro heroes arguing like children. We eventually settled down, but I kept grumbling as I drank my coke.
"tch…here, im not hungry anyways…" his face was turned away from me as he pushed his bowl closer to my hand. I was suspicious of this act.
"what's the catch?"
"ARE YOU GONNA EAT IT OUR NOT!"
I dragged the half eaten bowl and slurp it down in a heart beat."thanks…"
"unbelievable…"
"what!?"
"nothing…lets get going, its already six thirty…" he stood up as he cracked open his can of coke and slurps it down.
"okay chuckles…" I stand too and he stops to glare at me. The look was satisfying.
