Chapter 8 - Chapter Seven

Arrogance is a weak man's imitation of strength- random pick.

It is a wise thing to be polite; consequently, it is stupied thing to be rude-random pick.

Aunty Nina felt deeply sorry for Ifeoma. She knew Ifeoma didn't deserve the loveless marriage she was into. Aunty Nina felt more sorry for not being able to help. She was a woman herself, so she knew and understood the feelings of being neglected by someone you could do literary anything for. Ifeoma reminded her of her old self; the memories she had buried in a chest sealed in her heart waiting anxiously for the right moment to unseal.

Just like her young self several years ago, Ifeoma was still young so young to understand the depth of her situation. Aunty Nina knew Ifeoma held on to the hope that Obi would one day learn to love her. But noone knew better than aunty Nina; men rarely learn to love, if it isn't you it isn't you. They could learn to tolerate you or even get you pregnant but when it came to a question of 'love' only a few men eventually learn to love.

Obi had loved Lucy so much that the love became blind. Blind to Lucy's reality, blind to their difference, blind to everything. Obi felt he had similar history with Lucy and he felt the need to love her and he did or so he thought.

Love could be defined in different ways just like alot of people mistake some emotions to be love. Love or something like it has made alot of people especially young people do alot of crazy things all in the name of love.

Aunty Nina already received first hand information that Obi had gone to Ghana in search of Lucy. Ever since her disappearance, Obi had always gone blank at the mention of Lucy's name or at any information concerning her which was crazy, in fact highly insane.

Lucy could be best described as beauty at first sight. Her beauty was flattery and proud so was the lady that possessed it. Lucy was among those who were beautiful and knew to their vanity they were. She was among those exaggerated beauty that gets people like her thinking they possessed the glorious beauty of Helen of Troy.

Lucy's extravagant life style could make one think she came from an extremely wealthy background which in fact she came from the opposite. The Igbos have this saying: "when someone who never imagined or envisioned he would be made a chief but was eventually made chief, he would wear beads from the toes on his legs to his neck. In translation: when someone who is extremely poor and never imagined he could ever taste luxury but suddenly does; he would mismanage the wealth.

While Obi worked his ass off, Lucy on the other hand just sat enjoying and living in opulence like oriaku, a person that only knowns how to enjoy wealth but can't actually make them. Obi never minded nor even noticed. In fact he spoilt her the best he could.

Lucy would sit at home doing nothing from day break to dawn except if partying or clubbing. The worse was her attitude to workers. Apart from aunty Nina they used to have other workers. Lucy would shout at them at any chance and insult them at any slightest opportunity forgetting; if Obi hadn't elevated her status she might have being like them or worse.

It's funny how people forget their roots and put aside their identity. One would think she would be nice to the poor since she was once like them but her attitude to the less privileged was disgust. She saw it as an opportunity to further rob it on their faces; how powerful she had become especially over them; the struggling. Aunty Nina's ringing tone brought her back to reality.

"I told you never to call me- we agreed I do the callings" aunty Nina said immediately she answered the phone. She didn't wait for the person on the other side to as much as say an hello.

"That is not the case , when will it be over? It's being years already" the person said.

"I'm working on it..."

The person didn't wait for her to finish- "that was what you said a year ago, two years ago_ should I go on and on, on the number of years you've being saying that?" the person asked in anger.

"I've being waiting for the right time to strike. Do you think I enjoy working as...."

"The way you've being going about it seems like you've lost track of time and the initial goal" the person said in a hoarse tone.

"I would not have you speak to me that way. Like I said the time haven't ripened, I'll wait till it ripens before I release the bomb..."

"Aunty Nina!" aunty Nina heard Ifeoma call.
