The first student then stood in front of the magic circle, then the headmistress wrote something on the blackboard in front of the class.
"Use this chant to summon the spirit."
The student started to chant using the headmistress' mana as medium since most of the students are not yet proficient in controlling mana.
After he finished chanting, the magic circle started to glow and a creature showed up.
It's a spirit in a form of a small cat.
The headmistress then told the student,
"Oh nice one... try to talk with it."
"O- okay."
The student then tried to start a conversation with the spirit, but then the spirit didn't pay attention and disappeared right after.
"Sigh... no luck there. Next one please!"
One after one, they tried to summon a spirit. Although they succeed in summoning one, none of them are able to converse properly to the spirit.
But I noticed something strange, which I'm sure Kim Jaesuk realised it as well.
Before the spirit disappeared, they all looked at Kim Jaesuk's direction for a bit.
'Oh shit, something's gonna happen soon...'
Then it's time for Kim Jaesuk's turn.
He gulped before walking toward the magic circle.
The headmistress smiled slightly before telling him to proceed.
Chanting the spell, he didn't even finished chanting yet before the magic circle started glowing and a spirit in the form of a gigantic wolf that's as tall as the ceiling appeared.
Everyone around us was very surprised and they started to back away, including me and Adrian.
But Kim Jaesuk just stood there looking at the spirit, and the spirit is staring at Kim Jaesuk as well.
I thought it's gonna be dangerous but then I turned to look at the headmistress' who's smiling while watching the situation unfold.
"You're the one who summoned me..."
The spirit suddenly started talking, which makes the student more shocked as no one has been successful in talking to a spirit earlier, but this time the spirit initiate the conversation. Not to mention it's such a giant wolf.
"Yes, it's me."
"I see, you're not bad for a human..."
The spirit squinted its eyes while staring at Kim Jaesuk, which makes him flinch.
"Then, do yo-"
(Clap!)
Just as the spirit was about to say something, the headmistress clapped her hands together and the spirit as well as the magic circle disappeared straight away.
"Okay, that's enough. That's enough for today..."
She then looked around the students for a bit before declaring the end of the class.
But I realised that I haven't had my turn yet.
"Headmistress, I haven't tried the summon yet!"
"Let's do yours next time, Alex... I'm running out of mana now."
'Lies...'
After that, she gave us a bit of homework before leaving the classroom.
Whereas us, is the centre of attention now.
"What the heck, how did he do that?"
"To think that the spirit talked to him first, and such a giant one..."
"His friend already has a spirit as well!"
To be exact, both my friend are the centre of attention once again.
"Sigh, not a peaceful class with you guys around..."
I said while sighing, then Adrian replied.
"Hey, not our fault okay?"
I then noticed that Kim Jaesuk is currently deep in thought.
"What wrong, Jaesuk?"
I asked.
"Ah, nothing... I'm just thinking about something, it's alright now"
He then stood up and gestured for us to leave the classroom as well.
"Let's go..."
We leave the classroom under the watchful eyes of the other students.
As usual to my daily activity, I separate from the other to go to the gym while they went to the training room inside the staff building as usual.
"The headmistress said she's out of mana though? Will there be training still?"
"I don't know... at least we need to show up first. Would you like to join us, Alex?"
"Nah, I'll go to the gym to exercise."
"Okay."
They then walked away.
Arriving at the gym, it's packed as usual whereas my spot is still empty.
I thought about the class earlier while working out.
'The headmistress knew...'
She's probably aware that Kim Jaesuk was going to summon something outrageous, just looking at the smile and how calm she is.
'Or that's just how she is? a calm person in general?'
I'm having mixed thought about the academy now.
When I was showing my element to teacher Liam, he didn't show it, but I know that he was surprised when I was able to change it to the fire element.
Which means although he decided to teach me the element, he didn't expect me to be able to succeed.
'What's with his reaction?'
There's so many things that I'm confused about and it keeps on increasing each day.
And the way the headmistress is so good to us is very suspicious as well, especially the fact that she decided to teach us personally.
It's like she's trying to make us the centre of attention. Well, not us, more like my friend.
I then shake my head and got rid of such though.
'Let's not doubt other people's good intention, since she's grandpa's acquaintance...'
After that, I finished my exercise for today and went back to the dorm.
But before going back, I stopped by at the library to borrow a book since I would like to know something.
At the dorm, Kim Jaesuk and Adrian is already there talking about something.
"Oh, you guys are not training?"
"No, the headmistress said she's busy today..."
"I see... I'll take a shower and rest a bit, let me know when it's dinner time."
"Sure."
I then took a shower and lay down in my bed trying to rest since I didn't sleep at all last night.
It didn't take long for me to fall asleep.
---
(Earlier after class)
"What do you think, Flammie?"
I asked the bird resting on my shoulder.
"Well, to think that he's able to summon him..."
"That's Fenrir right?"
"You're right... that's the wolf king Fenrir"
'I knew that he was going to summon something outrageous since he's favoured by spirit, but to think that he summoned one of the four spirit king...'
"It means that the spirits are already aware of Jaesuk's existence"
It seems that I was too hasty to let him out last week, which resulted in way too much attention that I initially predicted.
"So, what are you gonna do?"
Flamming asked, which I answered.
"Just as usual, I'm going to train him like Charles' request and uses him for humanity's sake... Charles didn't say anything about it aside from asking me to train him anyway."
"Sigh, you're so evil o Alice..."
"That's just how I am. You're going to support me on this right?"
"Of course..."
I then walked toward my office while thinking of my next step.
---
(knock knock knock)
"Oy Alex, it's dinner time!"
I woke up to the sounds of knocking on my door.
I then shouted before getting up.
"Got it, coming soon..."
I stretched my body, still feeling a little sleepy.
Walking out of my room to the dining table, I saw four plates instead of three.
"What's that one for?"
"Oh, it's for Leo... he's gonna start eating with us from now on..."
"Woof!"
Leo then appeared from underneath the table which surprised me.
I pick him up and rubbed his head before putting him in front of his plate.
"Okay, let's eat..."
We then started eating together and Kim Jaesuk asked me a question.
"Alex, what do you think about the academy?"
"Hmm? It's a good place... why?"
"Ah, nothing... don't worry about it."
When he said it like that, it makes me curious even more.
"Are you worried about something?"
"Not really, just a sudden thought... but it's nothing important, really..."
"Well, okay..."
After that, we just ate dinner in silence while I'm just staring at Leo eating his food.
'Cute...'
I thought to myself.
After finishing dinner, I went back to my room to read the book I borrowed earlier after finishing up my exercise.
The book's title is 'sword and magic'
I skimmed through the content and realised something.
Magic swordsman are very, very rare.
People are either born talented with weapon, or born with overwhelming amount of mana.
It's very rare for someone to be born with the abilities to wield both, it depends on the aptitude.
'Then how am I able to use element yesterday?'
I thought that it might have something to do with my sealed trait which I don't have any idea about what that is until now.
This explains why teacher Liam seemed surprised.
Then another question rose in me.
'Why did the headmistress never told us about this? Is it because it's a common knowledge?'
It probably is common knowledge, hence the headmistress didn't tell us about it.
'Common knowledge, common knowledge... damn it...'
All this thinking is burning out my brain, so I decided not to think about it anymore and go to sleep.
