Chapter 1 - The Officer, The villain, and the victor

The Price to eat

Sun rises on the stone streets, a trolley ride on the rails lay in the street. Two men in a trench coat walks and talk.

(Mark) "Pigs eat the shite that is given to them, grow large to the liking of those that feeds them."

(Cole) The man laughs at the jest. "Content with the scraps, though if not check, will lead to meals that belong not to them."

(Mark) "mate, growth is what all aim, being prosperous, happiness is hard to get."

(Cole) chuckling, "happiness is a poor man aim, to not risk life when its already forfeit is a weak man game. It is nigh for I will gain and bring those that with me, with me."

(Mark) "Did you have your tribute?"

(Cole) "Do I, do I, what are you saying. How long have you've known me, many times we do this. The tribute it is, please test me not."

(Mark) "I know you know; I don't mean to ask; you know my job I know your past."

The two men exchange envelope then they go their separate ways. Cole meets an officer at a coffee shop. The officer crumbles the rest of a donut in his mouth, tucking his hat on his head tightly. Cole sits down at the tables slide a brown envelope. The officer slaps down, looking around before placing it in his pocket.

(Officer) "Mans mad, tells the world if you will both be swings gallows in the wind."

(Cole) smiling, "We won't swing at all, if one does their job, the swinging that we do is with the gals at the ball."

(Officer) "Games I don't play, friends we are not, business we trade, no less."

(Cole) "In shade you are though light you stand, to hold justice that true, so honest of a man."

(Officer) He gets up from the table. "I know law, so to do you, what is uphold and created by those that's never true." He leaves.

Later at night, moon high illuminating grounds below. Officer uniform crisp and clean strolls to the alley, a man wait. Exchanging of shifty hand in darkness, voices speak.

(Mark) "Vice is never good, the just knows that justice does not pay, though fiction build to act. What worth does the act holds."

(Offices) "We all eat, vault that feed, eat the value, we all pay to eat."

(Mark) "Pigs speak it can."

(Offices) The officer take offence to the comment, "do believe that above law you rain, though rain hit you just as much as me. Now you in reach, the dead don't eat."

(Mark) "Do you job eat we do, stay in your lane feed us they will. Those that work will be provided for, you accept payment, they expected service."

(Office) He scurf, "rats are being cleared out at the docks at dawn, flood through the water way. Storm through is front. Move items before dawn, I'm done."

The officers leave disappearing into the darkness.

Rain hits sheeted doors, the under flow stains the floors. Tide rise with flowing wave crashing against cliff side, repeated days. Nothing is constant, everything subjected to time is bond to change, though in this flow. Some things remain the same.
