Chapter 2 - The captain and the sea

Waves like giant walls turn into the sea bed, the crackle of light flash, illuminating the darkness for but a moment. The heavy clouds that block the moon pours rain adding to the chaos.

Multiple wooden structures, with cotton and iron, fight the choppy wave. Horns and bells echo under the rolling thunder. Dark shadowy columns sway in the wind, the blitzing rain gives them shape.

Spikes layer one side, many more sprouts from the water surrounding one of the wooden structures, wrapping around. Emerging from the water, large eyes like marbles look upon the small figures that charge forth. Cutting with sharp pointy things, thrust into his tentacles.

pulling itself a board snapping the wooden structure, strange smell mixed in with the wind and rain, sporadic explosions occurred all around, clouds of dust mixed with the rainfall saturating the sea.

Pain, pain, using all the might in its tentacle. Overlapping the wooden structure clamping down as it bite into the mass, the loose structure gives way, and the wood splitter then snaps.

The booming sound still echoes as some of the little fixtures fall into the water. Iron rods sink deep into the body, shot from several wooden structures floating on top of the waves.

Crying and pulling, the barbs seemed to be deep ripping the flesh, tentacles wrapped around tugging on the object.

Pushing forward the largest of wooden structures, a peculiar smell seems to be enriched. Large clumps of iron cylinders point towards the creature.Unable to move from its position as it stares down the little figures scurrying aboard.

His large hat holds the rain in the brim of his folds, his crew scary around preparing the cannons, aiming at the monsters while keeping pace.

His red folded jacket was soaked all the way to his black pants and black leather boots, he did not lose place. Keeping his hands on a helm he steer's the crew in. Horns and bells chime at the other surrounding ships keeping scores, entangling the beast with harpoons, keeping it in place can inspire.

Moving slowly it destroys the ensnared ship that it rests upon. Lifeboats are sent out to retrieve those who have gone overboard if possible. The captain raises his hand, his second mate's voice cuts through the heavy rainfall.

Anchors drop slowing down their advance, with the drop of his hand the second mate's voice rattles.

Canon jolts back in place as they open fire, quickly scrambling to reload, keeping the powder dry, and searching for wicks just to relight and fire again. This process repeats, the eyes of a creature, these structures, these strange figure small, prey that turned into predators, odd and natural.

In the eyes of a man, monsters that give terror, monsters that kill unjust, creature that gives challenge, a prize worthy of the hunt.

The storm has quelled and night becomes day, the giant creature is strung up and tied between three vessels. The sea is stained red as those who can be recovered are, and that which is lost sink to the bottom, never to be seen again.

Inventory is taken between all the ships that remain, the captain gives the order to return home. As the fleet crosses the sea dragging their prize behind, the crew sings and openly express desires and future plans once they set foot on land.

"Ohhhh when yee sail the sea and see all that yee can see, from swish bucklers to pirates' puffers and a ghost ship that flees."

"Yee buckle down and sway with the current of the free, for there's beauty that will take yee to the deep, see the crown of the reef king."

"The rum takes the thirst while the sun tans the hide, return to thy land to sack a lass tonight, heavy is thy step when body gets too dry. Davy Jones always wait for a sea dog to sleep at night."

"We Scally wags bred big and bad leave land for the open seas!"

Tales of Heroes and the captain that led them, the honor of serving. The crew were joyous. The second mate take over the helm as the captain looks back and watches the monster that they have taken down in wonder, he stares deeply Mumbling to himself.

"such a magnificent Beast "

The captain returns to the helm telling his second mate that he will be in his quarters, if anything should arrive, and for him to keep the pace, don't let the crew get too rowdy. Save their energy for when they make landfall, they're gonna need it. Second mate responds with a simple I I.

The captain pat's him on his shoulder

"Good lad. "

He leaves to his quarters. The ocean wave slaps against the bowls of the ship giving unstable footing, but every man and woman work efficiently as if they were on solid ground.

At the door, the captain hears something rustling, with the hairs on his neck standing he pulls out a pistol from his trousers. Slowly pulling back the pin, he opens the door taking aim.The person in question stood there frozen, staring at the barrel.

He disengages the pin, exhaling deeply.

"What in davy jones are ya doin here lass, scarring around in the captain courter like some sea rat, if I was to have my way with yee non would bat an eye."

The young lass simply smile's at the joke, some of her teeth on the top left were missing. She scratched the brown bandana on her head, wild unkempt hair bunched out to the side.

"Oi ya captain, don't be like that, I have only come to bring ya yee grog, why ya have to be such a wet cat."

The captain study the lass carefully, he knows every crew member on his ship, from second mate to the ship scrubbers, but this lass wild and free, seem to have come from a different ship.

"from the cook?" he asks.

she nods.

"Well you've done what was asked ya sea dog but, did someone request for ya to take that pouch on your pans."

shock that he noticed.

"Now if you don't want to lose those pans and become the lads' chew toy for yee voyage, drop the bag and leave."

With her gap tooth smile, she places the pouch on the table next to the map as she walks towards the door. The captain raised his pistol.

"Ot ot ot, did ya use the door to get in, for I have a hard time believing."

She sighs, scratching her head.

"Yee old dog, ya pretty shape"

She walks to the back where a large window looks out the rear of the ship, sliding it open, she salutes the captain before leaving. Now alone in the room.

"Nimble little sea rat that one is, yee wonder from which ship the lass is from."
