The wolves raiding the vampire nest left behind them a trail of carnage. Dead vampires lay lifeless at the main entrance of the nest.
But this by no means meant the wolves were safe from the casualties. As a matter of fact, taking a number ratio, they had lost more of their own than the vampires.
30 of the wolves had arrived at the entrance and were met by the front-line defence of the vampires who were similarly within that range. But as the fight proceeded, the numbers reduced and it at one point seemed like the vampires were going to win seeing as they had killed 10 werewolves without losing any of their own.
But that was when something drastic occurred. An omega wolf leading the pack of 30 had joined in on the fight. He was bigger than the rest of the wolves and equally more agile. His strength was also ahead of the pack that he seemingly led. Unlike the rest of the beta wolves with him that were a bit smaller than he was, he also had something that they didn't have.
He had golden brown eyes. The beta forces behind him all had red eyes.
The eye colour and size was a determining factor in how strong a werewolf was. One with red eyes was simply a beta. A beta could be considered as a beginner in the strength ranking. The one that led the pack was an omega and far superior to the betas that followed his every command. The beta had a dull red eye indicating it hadn't been long that he became one.
Yet with all of this stated, their strength could not be rivalled by a human. The omega that led the pack would stand twice a human's height and be far stronger than a regular human.
But none of these reasons was the major contributing factor to how they had turned the tides. Instead, it had been their pack mentality.
Unmatched coordination and teamwork had done it. The wolves had seemingly all synched with one another and without a doubt, the vampires were no longer a match as they teamed up and took out each vampire to the last one.
They had lost a great deal but so did the vampires. But at that point, it didn't matter to them anymore. Fueled by determination and ruthless aggression, they had made it through the first vampire line of defence and were breaking through to the inner area where the vampires mainly occupied.
The journey wasn't an easy one. For one, the living area of the vampire was still a tall height from the main entrance.
Climbing up there was certainly not a problem for werewolves not unless they had other issues to tackle along the way.
Large-sized griffins built their nest on the walls of the cave they had to scale through to get to the main entrance. But the werewolves were undeterred by these circumstances even while the griffins were just as big as the werewolves and possessed sharp beaks and equally sharp claws on their feet as well.
Immediately the werewolves got in range, as if an alarm had been sounded, fifty Griffins flew down from their nesting sites and descended on the werewolves ascending the cave. They had large wings that spanned 14 meters on each side. They also had dull brown feathers on their backs. Their necks were exposed like a vulture's.
Without fear, the werewolves climbed faster with their claws digging into the hard rock without resistance. They made their way up but the griffins gave chase.
The end of the climb was in sight and with that in mind, the werewolves sped up. The werewolves could easily kill the griffins but they knew they were outnumbered and at a disadvantage as well.
Having no wings of their own meant that the griffins had a better chance of evading attacks from them. But that alone was not the only reason they chose to ignore the attack and just run instead.
They were climbing the cave wall which also limited their fighting capability. And they weren't exactly on a hunt. They had more pressing issues and were laser-focused on them.
But in the end, two werewolves had been scratched from the back by the Griffin's powerful long legs and extended claws.
The two that had suffered this attack were gripped tightly by the griffins while attempting to fly back to the nest with them.
But with a single claw slash of their own, the griffins that had grabbed them had their legs broken. And with that, they jumped to the top of the cave wall, landing and seeing the rest of the pack members waiting for them.
Or perhaps, they couldn't move further. As in front of them now, dozens upon dozens of vampires stood guarding the gates. The wolves growled on seeing this. They were prepared for a fight and without any word. The omega leading the charge dug his huge hand into the ground and excavated a large rock, and without holding back, he hauled it at the vampires.
The rock flew fast and strong and in no time hit one vampire on the chest. Immediately, this vampire was sent skidding backwards on his back with a giant hole in his chest.
But he wasn't dead. It took more than a large hole like that to kill a vampire. And the wolves knew this as they charged in with aggression.

Juan watched as blood spilt out from every part of Finn's body. This was something she had never seen before. She knelt before Finn completely distraught and not sure of what to do. Except that Finn managed to utter some words before he couldn't talk again.
"Meat? Does he really want meat at this time? Shouldn't it be blood? He probably means blood. I'll go bring more from the house, "Juan said and fan of the chamber they were in. She made left and right turns in quick succession through a dark pathway. But eventually, she had reached a door and on opening, it led to the cave they lived in.
It turned out they had been in their house all the while but it wasn't the main one. She searched through some black box that on opening released a cold gas into the air. It was the blood storage equipment that they used. Without any thought, she grabbed two black bottles that were left and hurried back to where Finn was lying and bleeding all over. She knelt down and gaped his mouth open and then began to pour the blood into it. She emptied the first one into his mouth and watched to see what would happen.
*Bing*
[Overdose of blood]
[Increased blood loss. Body is in a critical state]
[Blood/Flesh ratio needs to be balanced. Organs will now begin to shut down]
"Hel...p...me..." Finn said amidst blood spurting out from his mouth. More blood gushed out of control.
"No..no...no. What have I done? I just made it worse, "Juan castigated herself. She fell down and her hands began to shake.
"Finn...i will be back. I'll go get mother. She will know what to do" Juan said in a rush and bolted out of the chamber with speed. Her black gown flew behind her like a cape. Her claws scraped pieces of stones off the walls as she used them to break and made sharp turns.
She stepped out of her home only to discover there was an even bigger problem. The werewolves were within the nest area. And it seemed all attention had been drawn to that region.
Juan ran down the sloppy steps that led to the first roll of caves in which she lived in. She could see that the nest was scattered as vampires ran towards a particular location. She ran her eyes through the scattered nest in search of her mother.
As she was focused on using her sharp eyesight to locate her mother, a hand land on her shoulders and she was immediately startled.
"Here...take care of him. I have to join the others. The werewolves are breaking through!" a female vampire with pale white skin and a long black gown just like everyone said to her. And without a word, the female vampire blasted off her feet heading the same way everyone adult vampire was going. They were going to protect the nest.
"Not now..not now. I need to find mother. But you aren't safe outside. I must take you to safety," Juan said with a clenched fist. She grabbed the youngling that had been handed over to her and ran back into her cave. She ran into the inner chamber to meet Finn dragging himself towards the exit.
Finn gazed up at her and immediately she knew he was drifting slowly away.
"I can't let you die...i can't... I told mother I would keep you safe. But then I gave you blood and made your condition worse. I can't..." Juan was going to say but then felt a nudge on her lap. At that point, she remembered there was someone else with her. She had brought in the youngling with her without realising until then.
"What is that thing?" The male spawn asked while pointing his finger at Finn. Finn was in a bad shape to the point he was barely recognizable.
"Meat...he needs meat.." Juan muttered as her eyes turned red and her gaze was locked on the youngling.
