As Tan and Lan made their way through the army of vampires on the ground towards the hilltop where the great beast lay, they all parted ways for them.
The aura exuding off the two was nothing short of intimidating. Enough so that the vampires and werewolves were forced to go on their knees involuntarily.
Tan wore a brown fur coat that extended the entire length of his body. His arms had been covered thoroughly by the sleeves. Yet even in this large coat he wore, he looked far from being less intimidating.
Lan on the other hand looked pale in comparison to Tan. He was guided by two vampires that held a spear-like weapon in their hands. The weapon consistently reflected a blue glow.
On one side of Lan was a female and on the other side was a male vampire.
These two by his side were blindfolded with a piece of black fabric. But oddly, they walked just fine and navigated their way through the trees.
Because the sun had set when Kan arrived and had spotted them, the vampires had no trouble coming outside for a confrontation.
The pack of wolves and vampires on the ground were shaking in excitement. They all felt the moment had come when their leaders would finally put an end to the great beast, Kan.
Upon reaching an open area, Lan and Tan paused in their movements. They proceeded no further. This was because in front of them were several corpses of both vampires and werewolves alike.
Tan and Lan knew this had nothing to do with the dragon who remained sleeping peacefully at the hilltop. They could sense that this bunch had foolishly exhausted themselves and dried up their essence.
This was obvious to them because the sign on the dead bodies said so. It had only been minutes before they came that these bodies had died. Yet, oddly, their flesh had dried up and turned black. This was the sign of no essence left again in their bodies.
Over a short time, Tan and Lan were able to make remarkable discoveries about what they had become. Their strength, weaknesses and desires.
And the one thing that they possessed and didn't share as a common trait with the army they had built was knowledge.
They were well aware that the beast laying down on the hilltop wasn't just their brother. They knew he was superior to them. They had seen him fend off great beasts way before they had become the beings they were. They had an idea of just how powerful Kan was. And with that knowledge in their grasp and every other thing else they had witnessed happened that day from afar, they knew it was a terrible mistake they had made letting their army out to face Kan.
Tan walked closer to the great beast and bent to one knee. Lan remained at the spot he stood and did the same. With this singular act, they had not only shocked the faithful army behind them, they had made them lose hope.
Seeing their leaders take this route only confirmed that Kan truly was an unstoppable force. They all had no choice but to follow suit and fall to their knees as well. This wasn't intuitive. It was forced especially on the werewolf's end.
Kan without being notified knew what had happened. He had abilities that spanned far and wide. One of them was the ability to see underlying energies in living things. This was a plus to his passive ability which allowed him to drain energy from sources around him. This ability in question was beyond his control, it came with him being a dragon.
Kan sensed that the energy around had lessened in its violent nature. It wasn't as wild as it initially was. The initial blood lust exuding from the entire pack of wolves and vampire groups was dwindling by the second.
Kan stood up and turned around shaking the ground as he was at it. His frame cast a shadow with the help of the moon that was now out.
"Why have you chosen to do this? Do you know what you have brought onto this world?"Kan asked his brothers. As he spoke, his voice echoed around. It took several minutes for this short sentence to be completed. The vampires and werewolves with heightened senses felt pain from this loud voice.
"Please brother, come with us. We will explain it all to you. We should not fight like enemies that we aren't, "Tan said to Kan.
"But you have chosen to become an enemy of mine when you took this path. Do you not know the curse you brought to this world by choosing to expand?"Kan asked with a tremor in his voice.
"This...all this was all an accident. The incident at the village that night. Those people that I...that died. They weren't truly dead. I had turned them when I bit them, "Lan revealed.
This came as a shock to Kan. He was taken aback by this news. He knew very well what he had seen that night. And of a fact, he confirmed them to all be dead. "Did Lan now have the ability to awaken the dead?" Kan wondered.
But as he thought about this, it occurred to him that Tan hadn't said anything concerning how the pack of werewolves came to be. So Kan beseeched Tan to reveal to him how the werewolves in his command came to be.
"Surely brother, you don't expect to allow this gift to end with me, now do you? We can change the world, and make it anew!!! These people who were once human allowed me to show them the path to a greater existence. I am their saviour, a messiah who lifted them from their pitiful existence and gave them hope. Hope for a better future!. I showed them the way!!, the path to power! Isn't that what drove you to leave us in the first place? You wanted something better for all of us. Then why horde this great gift?!!! Why not turn the entire populace to be just like us!! Then there will be no bias, we will all be equals!!..."
"Enough!!!!"Kan stopped Tan in his speech. He rose from the ground with his wings flapping and causing great wind around the surroundings. The vampires and werewolves were blown back by this force but somehow, the werewolf prime alpha, Tan and the vampire king, Lan remained at their spot.
But they weren't kneeling again. They were up on their feet enduring the wind being blown by Kan's wings. And at that moment, a change was arising.
