As the three figures fell from the sky, the vampires and werewolves who had escaped into the umbrella of the caves stood at the entrances with hands on their chests in fear.
The red fireball descended with fury and along with it were the fire flakes that fell on the land like snow and burnt through everything in its path. The small community that had been built in a short time through their sweat was been demolished with ease by the fire flakes.
But their biggest worry was no longer the fire flakes nor their homes that had been destroyed. Their biggest problem was the giant fireball that was close to the ground now.
As it descended, immense heat took over the land. The ground was being scorched from the heat alone. It was like the sun had come to pay them all a visit. The light emitted from the fireball was so bright they had to close their eyes.
Lan and Tan stood gallant as ever in the midst of all this chaos looking past the fireball unto what came behind it which was their brother, Kan.
The white beast that had attacked Kan was a dragon like him. Only it was slightly smaller than Kan was. And instead of the black scales that Kan possessed, this one had white scales with a long horn on its head and numerous spikes that followed after it on its back. Its wings were white with spots of golden brown. Its eyes were golden and its teeth just like Kan's barely fit in its mouth.
The fireball finally reached the level of trees that once existed but were destroyed by the fire flakes.
Now the fireball was only seconds from crashing on the earth. With the size of it alone and the heat it packed, it was already having its effect on the ground.
The once lush vegetation was all gone and now the green valley looked like a desert. Light shone brightly as though it was daytime.
Lan turned to the two vampires who stood beside him the whole time and gave a nod to them. With the singular gesture, they both removed their blindfolds revealing a pair of red eyes on their faces. The female who stood with Lan was Silvia, one-half of the twins that were initially thought to belong to Kan. The male who was blindfolded along with the female was the other half of the twins, Kilga. Together, they both dropped the spear-like weapon they held and grabbed hold of their fabrics with both arms.
In unison, they tore the clothes they wore revealing a new set of armour they had underneath the whole time.
Silvia had on her a red armour that looked to have been carved out of the body of a beast as it had a scaly texture to it. The shoulder guards had spikes lined up on them and her arms guards had spikes at the elbow too. This armour was carved out of a beast. This was one of the many things Lan and Tan had discovered on their own while building the community of vampires and werewolves.
The armour was a complete set from head to toe. The armour looked like that of a knight only without headgear.
Silvia and Kilga both had the same type of armour on. Kilga's was a lot smoother than Silvia's which had spikes attached to the armour in different places. Kilga and Silvia with pale white skins and equally long black hair although twins, looked like they were of different ages. Kilga was considerably older-looking than Silvia was.
Attached to the knight-like armour they wore was a sheath. Again just like they had done other actions, in unison, they drew the swords held in the sheaths out. And in their hands were the weapons Kan handed to them some time back. The Excalibur and Clarent. The weapons of power.
Silvia who wielded the Clarent held the sword out as it constantly released black and red smoke. Her twin, Kilga, was with Excalibur. The Excalibur in its active state released a dark blue smoke from it.
These weapons were the reasons Tan and Lan hadn't been incinerated from the heat of the fireball spat by Kan.
The weapon had numerous powers such as granting a shielding effect to the wielder. This didn't matter if the weapon was drawn or not. Being a passive skill, it granted the user this effect as long as the sword was on the user or in close contact.
And because the fireball was a large attack, the weapons effect had also spread out through to Tan and Lan covering them from the scourge of the flames and destruction Kan's attack had.
The large fireball had finally hit the ground and shook the core of the earth. The loud explosion from it was deafening. But even worst, the destructive properties it had was none to contend with. The fireball hitting the ground ripped through the soil and tore up the earth causing a large crater in the ground that swallowed what was left of the valley. The energy from the explosion travelled far and wide and caused mountains to begin to cave in on themselves.
The vampires and werewolves that had taken refuge in the mountains began to curse their fate as there was nowhere to go. The only escape was death for sure.
They couldn't outrun the red heat energy that pulsed through the land shattering the ground as it moved. Neither could they leave the mountain as its parts were caving in from the shock the earth had taken.
The effect of the fireball was widespread. It wasn't just the mountains it shook or the heat energy that travelled on incinerating all things within its path.
Apart from the shockwave sent shaking mountains and red pulse of energy that moved onwards like a wave, the fireball was so hot it had burnt to the core of the earth and caused lava to emerge. The destruction was on a large scale as the ground was being flooded with hot lava which further destroyed the soil as it ate through and continued to flow onwards.
Black smoke covered the night sky. But in the midst of all this, deep at the centre of the crater, four figures remained standing. Tan, Lan, Kilga and Silvia all because they held onto the Swords of power. The Excalibur and Clarent were no normal weapons and had proven this to be true.
The Excalibur glowed with a blue flame in the hands of Kilga and constantly released a dark blue smoke. The Clarent held tightly on by Silvia glowed fiercely red and released a black-red smoke from it.
"We would have been done if not for these weapons. Kan truly sought to end us all. Look at the destruction he has caused. Miles upon miles of damage from one breath of his fire. This is why the world must be rid of him. He is too dangerous!!!"Lan said to his brother Tan and his twins, Kilga and Silvia.
"Look how many have died! He has made the land unfit to live on. His fire appears to be eating through all things that live. It's like his sickening habit of feeding off of the energy of living beings. Truly, he was stupid to have given us a way out in these weapons"
They were only left standing because the weapons had extended their protective barriers to protect their wielder from all corners.
But as one explosion ended, another one happened. This time, it was not as a result of a fire breath by Kan. It was Kan crashing unto the ground from the skies.
Dust filled the air as Kan made an impact. In one night, the land had gone through an ordeal. One that there wasn't assurance it could recover from. The ground for miles away from the place the battle was happening was polluted with pure power. Trees in areas that weren't remotely close to the scene of battle were dying. The lava that spurt from the ground travelled across the land in a stream and consumed all in its path. This was because the residual energy of Kan's fireball was still left around.
As Kan landed, he too had created a deep crater that shattered the ground around him. But above him was the white dragon coming in with its large mouth opened wide. The white dragon tore through the air with so much speed that it sounded like a horn was being blown as it descended downwards. A large beast moving that fast was quite a feat.
Now looking into its mouth Kan saw fire building up. Another dragon's breath was on the way.
