Chapter 15 - Flesh or flesh?

Juan with a single thought had accessed the situation in front of her and without a doubt had come up with a solution. A solution that was right in front of her.

"He knew what he needed all along. But I was being selfish. Afraid to admit that I knew what he needed," Juan thought to herself as her eye glowed red in colour.

The male youngling with her could feel the sudden shift in the air around them even while they were underground and further deeper into a cave within another one. Still, he could tell what was about to happen would not be pleasant.

"What are you doing?" The male youngling asked with fear and confusion mixed in his voice. He had brown hair with pale white skin and tiny freckles on his cheeks. He stood tall reaching just about Juan's abdomen level while looking up at the older vampire who was starting to emit an overwhelming burst of aura around the place.

"I'm sorry..." Juan said and with her blood red eyes, and her fist raised above her head in a claw shape, she swiped hard and fast cutting through the air with power. As she swiped through the air, her fingertips had slightly turned blue and were glowing.

Even as fast as she went, the youngling at the last minute could see the trajectory of her claws and immediately flinched. But there was nothing he could do about it at that moment.

*Splurt*

An enormous amount of blood began to gush out. One that in no way enticed her. She hated to admit it but at that moment, she was bitterly regretting her decisions. Perhaps she should have thought it through and come up with a different solution. But in the heat of the moment, she had acted rash and was now having to deal with the consequences.

Her very first thought was what she would say to her mother when she returned and found out what had happened in there. More so, how would she explain to the youngling's mother what she had made her son go through?

"I'm sorry it had to be this way. But from the look of things, you would understand perhaps when you get the chance that there wasn't really an option or time left to spare, "Juan said, facing the kid who looked to be paralyzed in shock.

"You...you....you just sliced off your arm!!" The kid couldn't get over the fact that he had watched it happen. It looked quite unreal to him that she would have such courage to do something that gruesome to hurt herself for any purpose whatsoever.

"Admittedly, it is painful. But it is for the greater good. With no option left again, what would you have me do? I even had to use part of my life force energy to ensure I had it in one swipe. While I have successfully avoided the pain of probably repeating the process a couple of times as my bones would have posed a problem without my inner force, it comes with a great price. One that would tell on me very shortly, "Juan thought to herself.

Her left hand stood no chance with a dual combo of her sharp claws and life force energy. The bones had been sliced clean off, dropping her arm with a thud to the ground. She bent downwards and picked it up. And with her fingers wrapped around her arm that had been cut from the forearm region, she walked toward Finn with strong resolve.

She held hope even as he wasn't physically moving, she could hear a heart beat and his eyes which were oozing out blood were opened and met with hers.

At the final stage of it all, she was perhaps stomped with what to do. She didn't know how well to present a part of her body to her brother to feed on. So with awkwardness, she dropped the arm in front of Finn hoping that seeing flesh would trigger something in him as it did at the circle when he attacked the girl. She still held on to the narrative that what they all saw and perceived to be the case was what happened.

In her mind, her brother wouldn't do such a thing as killing his own kind intentionally even as he admitted it in a cryptic way to her.

But standing there and watching, nothing happened. Finn didn't make any move to approach the arm on the ground. As a matter of fact, Finn continued to stare at the arm without a reaction from him.

"Perhaps he is too weak to move. If that's the case, then I guess it leaves me no choice," Juan said and bent to her knee. She reached for the arm on the floor with her other good right arm.

Then she extended her claws out again but this time hadn't activated her life force energy. With her claws, she began to fillet the flesh off the bone in her forearm out. Her sharp claws cut through her durable body that was far denser than that of a human's own easily off.

She sliced off a long piece of flesh and then moved on to give Finn, directly feeding him in the mouth. Finn opened his mouth on sight and took a bite of her flesh not at all holding back. She knew she had to be careful. Usually in these situations, even though she didn't know if it was the same in the case of flesh, vampires had the propensity to lose control and go wild.

So she kept a stable eye on Finn. She watched for any changes in his condition be it the bloodlust that might overwhelm him or the healing process kicking in. But from the looks of things, nothing appeared to have changed.

After that first bite, Finn refused to take another one.

"What's the matter? Is something wrong?" Juan asked not fully grasping the current situation.

"Spa..spawn...Fle..sh" Finn said in a low voice yet again. His voice trembled and from all indications, her self-sacrifice hadn't paid off quite as she wanted. Finn was still in the condition he was in.

But in the midst of all that happened, something else troubled her. The exact place Finn's gaze was fixed on was where the male vampire stood.

"Is my hearing becoming bad or have I just been subconsciously picking apart what he has been saying?" Juan thought to herself. In the end, she settled on the second one.

Now all of a sudden, Finn's body began to tremble uncontrollably. Her eyes widened in fear as she heard his heartbeat rise to the maximum. Oddly, she could hear more than four heartbeats at once and they were only three in the room. But she ignored that detail for the time being as she began to turn around looking confused and going mad. Her hair had come undone a long time ago making her lose her once calm and collected look.

"I will save you, Finn...I will save..."Juan didn't finish her sentence anymore and staggered out heading for the exit where the youngling stood still trying to take everything in. She was going out of the chamber again when something suddenly grabbed her attention.

She could smell blood. And the blood was coming from the youngling who stood and apparently dug his fingers into his flesh out of anxiety. The situation had gotten the better of the spawn. She stopped in her tracks and bent low to the youngling's level. She grabbed the arm and began to observe the deep stab the Spawn had done to himself healing up slowly. Just like her arm was healing up too. Surely, she knew she couldn't grow a new one.

She looked back at Finn who was jerking on the ground and at the spawn who had hurt himself. She watched as the youngling's flesh was repairing itself and at that moment her eyes had turned red again. This time, the feeling was different and the youngling could tell.
