-People wake up to big surprises like their birthdays and other time-wasting celebrations. I on the other hand wake surprised to have made it into yet another day or perhaps another night. It's hard to tell. I haven't seen the sun since I was born two days ago.
Which could only mean I was born into a vampire family. The worst!
As for the sun's absence, we are most likely in the vampire nest. Yes, I did say nest and no, they are not able to fly, at least none that I have seen so far. But they do act like they have got a bird brain sometimes.
My first vampire mum nurtured me by slitting her breast with her finger and feeding me the blood from it. Of course, it tasted like old Zephyr's sucks (chewed on it once). And if I had my way then, she would have gotten a handful, believe me.
The vampire nest from all the knowledge I have gathered down to now was some type of cave. Perhaps an underground city would be more appropriate.
The choice of this location was obvious. Vampires generally have a weakness and it was the sun. The reaction from getting exposed to the sun on the other hand was something I haven't seen. This reminds me of my first mum who thought since blood wouldn't work, tossing me into the sun was a good idea to test just what I was.
Being a vampire comes with time. A baby vampire might be mistaken for a baby human, not by their looks but by smell. From what I overheard from vampire mum (1), both vampire and human toddlers have a similar scent that was hard to pick apart.
But a full-grown human was a different story. Back to what I was saying before I trailed off. Vampire mum back then tried her little experiment and took me outside. She laid me on the ground and with her leg, pushed me to a spot that had a ray of sunlight branching from an unknown source. it certainly must have been a hole in the cave.
She waited in the shade of the cave watching to see what would happen. After minutes, I could remember staring at her innocently as back then I was unfamiliar with how my life would turn out to be. I was only two to three reincarnations into the business. I wasn't fully acquainted with how cold the world was.
Seconds became minutes and my poor baby eyes and skin couldn't handle the sun rays for that long. Minutes turned to even longer minutes yet she stood watching.
Baby me became exhausted from the heat and after several minutes of crying to be taken away from the sun ray, baby me fell asleep.
I woke up later to discover she had gone. Most probably thought I was dead. Or perhaps she was too scared to risk herself entering the sun to pick up her baby!!!. No one rescued me this time as my mother hadn't done this where she could be seen and suspicions would arise. Even if she had, I doubt any vampire would help a human. But I was her child and she couldn't have left me behind, right?
Oh wait, I'm not her baby. As sad as it may seem, I ended up in her home twice. And the second time was worst than the first. It became clear where I stood. That darn woman dared call me an "it"!!
I wondered why the resentment was much back then and it was simply because I was considered an old model, washed-up specie, a human. I got eaten I guess, can't remember the rest of the story.
But yet from the looks of things, this home might not be so bad. I haven't seen new mum this morning but from the looks alone, I like what I see.
I got my crib, this is the only part of being a baby I liked so much. The soft, welcoming baby crib. It gets better with each birth of mine.
My crib was coloured black. My new mum appears to have bad taste or perhaps hates brightness and light now that I'm looking around.
The room I have been sleeping in for two days now was also coloured black. Wait, my towel too was black. What is wrong with this woman?!!.
The house here looks exceptional in different ways. It almost feels like it's from the future. I knew I had stayed too long being dead but I didn't think it would be so long that the world would have moved on without me.
Yes, they probably don't know me. And so will you be forgotten in a matter of a week or so when we die.
The place seems lovely. From the looks alone, most likely expensive as well. There sat a brown wooden chair with an oddly shaped pet sitting on it. The poor lighting wouldn't let me see it.
"I see you are awake. I'll go call mum straight away!"A voice said. And from the sound of things, it came from where the pet sat on the chair seconds ago.
"Huh, they have talking pets now?!! I thought while excitedly drifting away from the soul-bonding section I was having with me.
"Oh, wait. It's just a girl. Probably my sister". Yes, I feel the same, unfortunately, reality can often be disappointing and in my case, it's always disappointing.
Now the girl walked out of the room and returned minutes later with someone else. I still couldn't see clearly. But that didn't seem like a problem to them.
Thankfully, someone understood my predicament and turned on the light. Now let's see the monster I have been lumbered with.
what in the hell?!!. My mother is beautiful!!
For a second I forgot how strangely good-looking vampires were. Their pale white skin and red lips were always a given. But my mother, my mother was something else. She looked so beautiful! Her gorgeous long flowing hair, bright yellow eyes like the sun, ha!!...good one.
Her curved pouted red lips were the final blow. If anything now, I wanted her to do that thing they did with their mouth whenever they saw me and hadn't discovered my truth. Yes, the thing they do with their lips when they still loved their kid who wasn't a disappointment and a curse upon them.
As she picked me up and held me with her arms stretched so she could have a better look, I also had the opportunity to get a better look at her. By normal standards, she appeared to be in her late twenties but this was just by human standards. If I was to guess, then I would say she was roughly three hundred years old. Such a young vampire has to go through the misery of giving birth to an abomination like me. I almost feel pity. But the truth is I don't care and she doesn't matter.
"Now, you haven't heard mama call you your name yet, have you? I should do that so you start picking up. You know we vampires mature quicker than usual and then our bodies automatically start delaying our ageing," she said to me while swinging me around in her arms. The information to a child was irrelevant and downright stupid but sadly that's our mum.
I didn't like this. I was being treated like a child when at most I was older than her by hundreds of years. The soul always comes before the body. And my soul has lived longer than hers. Complete disregard my mother has for her child.
"I am going to call you...Finn" she said with her gorgeous pouted lips.
I had no problem with the name she had given me. At least she did better than my wolf parents one time that named me "claw". Bunch of animals. I learnt later on to understand that they lacked intellect and animals they truly were.
"Juan, have you said hi to your brother, Finn?" my mother said, tilting her hand and bending down a bit so I could see my supposed sister.
Sisters were the worst. They all were the same. Pretended to love me but won't think twice to throw me into a lake!!. Scheming witches!!.
And now this one is not only my sister, but she came in place of the talking pet I so now want badly.
"We are gonna have so much fun together," Juan said with black pupils staring at me and a smile so wide I knew it had to be hiding nothing but evil agendas.
"He is unusually quiet for a baby, mum. Do you think he is alright? Juan asked.
There she goes, pretending to care about me. Or perhaps she is starting to show her true colours. She's trying to sow seeds into mum's head and next would be dad, that doofus. Haven't met him yet but I can tell he is someone I won't get along with.
"Don't worry Juan, Finn will be just okay. We love him and will protect him, right? "mum reassured Jaun. But even I who was a baby couldn't buy that acting. They were both closing in on finding out just who I truly was with that bad acting.
"We will protect you because we love you no matter what happens," Jaun had the guts to hold my tiny soft baby cheeks while speaking lies to my face.
Boring talk by the way. Baby Finn needs a nap. Anything to take me away from the girl mum picked over a talking pet.
Mum noticed I was groggy and set me back in my crib. She watched for a while, I could tell seeing her shadow block out the dimly lit room already. She sounded like she was saying something before she walked out of the door but I heard nothing she said. I didn't care about it in the first place. I decided to rest up as having this mental conversation with me in my new body was difficult and stamina draining for a baby boy.
