Chapter 7 - Bloodstones

Please, just be my imagination, please. I did not dare move a muscle. I felt the bed dip with someone's weight. Oh, God. This was happening. Was I ready for it to happen? I did not shower last night. My mind was all over the place. I wanted to scream! Then...nothing happened. Was the low, deep, almost 'morning' voice I just heard just in my imagination?

I swallowed hard, closing my eyes and withdrawing my hand from under the thin blanket. Slowly, I sat up, opened them, and there he was, casually sitting on the edge of the bed, a brow raised in confusion.

"Is that how mortals start their day?" I did not know whether he was seriously asking or just teasing the hell out of me.

"Is that how angels of death usually start theirs? By creeping on sleeping people?

"I have no idea what you're talking about." he grinned widely. I almost cried, my face burning with embarrassment. I just wanted to disappear off the face of the earth completely. He just smirked.

"Just what are you doing here?" I couldn't help how irritated I sounded. Don't get me wrong, I was not annoyed by his presence, not at all, I was just so deeply embarrassed.

"Watching you mast-" I threw my pillow with all my strength. The said pillow stopped and was now floating In mid-air, a few inches away from him. He grinned devilishly. Of course, he could do that.

He reached for my pillow before grabbing it and tossing it over his shoulder.

"Why are you not in school, anyhow?" Seriously, there was something about the way he talked that made him look so cute despite being an otherworldly being.

"It's Saturday?"

"Good." How was that any good? "I need to take you somewhere." He added before standing up.

"Can I please get dressed first? Alone." I was not going to change with him there. Never.

He nodded and stood to his feet. He had his hair up in a small bun and was wearing black jeans with just a dark sweater. His simple attire made him look more... human.

He caught me staring at him and smirked. I look up at him, sticking my tongue out, and earning a chuckle from him.

Tearing the thin, creamy blanket off of my body, I rose to my feet. He glanced at me, "What?" I suddenly felt self-conscious, I forgot I got to bed with nothing but a big, yellow, oversized t-shirt. I panicked. My hair was up in a messy bun and sleep was still in every corner of my face.

"I think I found my new hobby." The smile in his voice was apparent.

"You're such a fucking creep." He laughed, and the gruff sound rang across the room. I had never seen him laugh. He snickered and chuckled, grinned and smirked, but never laughed. He was in a good mood today.

"Alright then, I'll give you your space. Just wear something not revealing." He said l.

"Why? Where exactly are you taking me?"

"Don't worry about it." But I was worried, I had all the reasons in the world to be worried.

I quickly showered and got dressed before I went downstairs. Rey was once again in my kitchen, a box of cereal in his hand, he looked at it as if it was the strangest thing in the whole world. I walked to him.

"Dry cereal can be very tempting, I know." I said I grabbed a bowl from the cupboard facing him. My body was dangerously close to his and I could smell fresh shampoo on him.

"I do not understand how humans could eat that." He gave the contents of the box a smell before I grabbed it from him and poured a generous amount into my white porcelain bowl.

"Don't knock it till you try it." I said as I poured the milk, I opened the drawer to my right and got a spoon.

"Here, try it." I looked at him as I filled the spoon with cereal, the color contrasting that of the milk.

"I told you I don't eat." He put a hand defensively between us, but I took a step, getting closer to him.

"You can't eat or you don't eat?" I raised a brow, and a couple of milk drops fell to the ground, I'd worry about that later. He looked baffled, "No." he said firmly, taking a step back.

"If you don't try it I will not come with you."

"You do realize I can take you anywhere I like, whenever I like."

"Just try it dammit." I said as I went to yank his hand away and before our skin touched, he stilled.

"Don't."

I dropped the spoon, the hard metal hit the floor. I gave him a questioning look. Our eyes met and he sighed.

"I can't touch you." he finally said. Was that a hint of disappointment in his voice?

"What?" I raised a brow and suddenly the image of the purple bruise around my forearm appeared in my mind.

"I can't touch you and you can't touch me. It's against the law." I had to suppress a laugh, was he serious? He did not strike me as conservative.

As to show me exactly what he meant, he reached for my face, his knuckles just barely brushed over my cheeks. A wave of pain shot all over my veins, it was a kind of pain like none I had ever felt before. I glanced up at him, my eyes wide in horror. His hand fell to his side, and several strands of hair brushed against his face.

"I'm not of this world, I can barely interact with you." he explained to me.

Then what world do you belong to?" I asked, my voice sounding a little unsure.

"That is exactly where I'm planning to take you."

A brief moment later, we were standing outside. The early sunlight shone brightly against Rey's dark figure and got to appreciate how beautiful he looked.

"So, how does this work?" I asked before he could notice that I was staring.

"We fly there." He said as if it was the most normal thing in the world.

"I don't see how we can do tha-" I was interrupted by the sound and sight of a set of enormous wings sprouting out of his back then Black, shiny feathers fluttered calmly in the wind. I was left gazing at him in awe. If he looked heavenly before, now he just looked out of this world.

He walked towards me, his wings were so big that they ended up dragging behind him. "You're going to hold onto me." He stopped right in front of me, and he glanced down, locking eyes with me.

"But," before I could say anything he picked me up, bringing my face right before his. If I leaned in any closer, I would capture his lips. One of his arms supported my head while the other wrapped around the inner sides of my knees.

"Grab my shoulders, not my neck." He breathed and with that, we took to the sky above.

I had to keep my eyes shut at first, the crisp air felt razor-sharp against my face. I was so glad I opted for a red sweater and black jeans or I might have frozen to death. When I got used to the wind rushing in my face, I slowly opened my eyes. There was only him, and nothing but him. My grip on his shoulders tightened as I looked beneath us, the buildings looked so tiny and far away.

I then turned my gaze to Rey, he looked at me, with his silver eyes pouring into mine, "How do you like it? Flying I mean." he spoke gently and I barely heard him through the strong, blowing wind.

"I'm kinda nauseous," I yelled so he could hear me.

"We're almost there, please, don't get sick all over me."

Eventually, Rey stopped. I did not know where we were but the wind suddenly stopped. It was as if we went through a whole different realm. The air was light and I felt almost weightless. The blue sky was now painted a deep, red burgundy color, with a few black clouds floating behind us.

"Where the hell are we?" I whispered, mostly to myself.

"Welcome to The Netherworld." His smile lit a fire inside me.

I tore my gaze from his gorgeous face and looked down, we were suddenly flying above

a big city. The lustrous lights gleamed brightly in the darkness whilst several buildings stood high above the smaller houses and stores. The luminous light broke on the several running rivers and lakes.

After flying above the city for a while, I looked ahead, there stood a massive castle on an equally enormous, steep mountain. Its black color stood out against the blood-red sky. I glanced up at him.

"What is that?" I asked and he grinned widely and I could see a set of porcelain-white fangs.

"Home."
