Chapter 33 - Defying the Rules, 33.

Damián was in the car with Adam, pondering a question he had asked himself many times, on various occasions, over the course of many years. The exact laws of survival he had learned to practice were self-discipline and adaptability.

For years, he maintained his operation mode. He avoided getting lost. Consciously, he played different roles; his life was a grand stage with several memorable acts. But he lost his main role, to be the brother of Janine.

However, it took iron fists to not cross the line he established and never yield an inch. By keeping his life objective and sometimes freezing, he avoided any temperature changes, so nothing would be disturbed.

He became selfish in his pursuits, his life marked by initial losses and achievements, although these achievements didn't taste like happiness.

Money was indispensable and essential... However, none of it mattered.

Automatically, he raised his hand and ran his fingers through his hair. He wasn't sweet, the nice guy type. He felt an ancient, monumental hatred within himself and fought tirelessly to not destroy everything around him.

For a long time, he didn't understand how life worked due to his class, his race, and his orphaned origin. He grew tired of trying to find an answer, so he thought, "Fuck the world".

He was too competitive to live and lose; he was a man who took many lives but never shot anyone in the back. He had some honor!

Damn, why was he thinking about these things... The past was coming back and haunting him...

Inside the car, the atmosphere was charged with the magnetic presence of Adam and Damián. The scent of their pheromones mingled in the air, creating an aura of tension and attraction.

Adam drove with confidence, one hand firm on the steering wheel and the other holding Damián. His touch conveyed both security and possessiveness.

Damián, with an anxious look, locked eyes with Adam and released a question filled with arrogance but also with a hint of delicacy: "Can you stop holding onto me while you're driving"?

Adam laughed, a sound filled with good humor, and quickly took Damián's hand in a defensive gesture. His eyebrows arched in response to the provocation.

With a mischievous smile on his lips, he replied, "No, I can't. You make me feel this way, and I am responsible for you, remember?"

Adam couldn't help but infuse a tone of respect into his voice as he commented on Damián's courage, despite his seemingly smaller size. There was something intriguing and irresistible about the omega's defiant attitude.

As Adam skillfully drove, a spark of sarcasm illuminated Damián's face when Adam asked him about his plans for the day.

Damián briefly averted his gaze from the road and sarcastically smiled back at Adam, provoking him in return.

With an air of authority, Adam inquired about Damián's outings with his friend Aster, implicitly suggesting that he wanted to be informed in advance.

Damián paused, reflecting on the audacious behavior of the man beside him. That behavior was almost primitive, as if Adam belonged to another era.

"Are you confronting me for going out to drink with my friends?" Damián questioned, maintaining a certain dose of defiance in his words.

Adam responded with conviction, "I am your Alpha; it's my right!"

Damián, with an ironic smile on his lips, provocatively said, "Are you prehistoric? What will be the next step? Are you going to drag me to your cave?"

Adam enigmatically replied, "Perhaps... so let me know first, sweetheart."

After twenty minutes of driving through the city, they finally arrived at the building where Damián lived.

Adam firmly held Damián's hand; their gazes met, and a wave of emotions washed over Adam. It was the first time in his existence that he experienced such deep, genuine, and liberating feelings.

Damián was a different kind of omega, awakening in Adam the need for care and affection.

Adam acknowledged to himself that he was an omega of strong temperament, yet at the same time, gentle and warm.

Damián was a perfect combination of sensuality, uninhibited spontaneity, and complexity.

He was a true contradiction, yet at the same time, the most adorable thing Adam had ever encountered. It was inevitable; they were destined to get married!

Instinctively, Adam leaned closer to Damián's face to bid farewell, their lips mere inches apart. He asked provocatively, "Aren't you going to invite me up, Baby? I'm waiting for your invitation."

Damián affectionately replied, "I would feel guilty about you." I have just a small art gallery, while you... You... my dear Adam, manage billions and are a major Alpha in the financial world. Institutions have high expectations of you. So go to work, baby, and make me proud. Conquer the world and settle for nothing less than first place. Be number one, Baby!"

After Damián's provocative words, Adam's expression completely changed. He didn't expect that response, as in all his previous relationships, his lovers always desired his time and attention. However, Damián was telling him to go conquer the world and be the king.

Adam was surprised by Damián's defiant attitude. His eyes met Damián's, and for a brief moment, he fell silent, processing those words that were so different from what he was used to hearing. A mixture of admiration and surprise-filled his eyes as he observed Damián.

Without saying a word—Adam gently released Damián's hand and stepped back. A bold and somewhat admiring smile played on his lips as he looked at the omega before him.

"You know, no one has ever said something like that to me before," Adam said, his voice filled with fascination and a touch of amusement. "I've always been asked to stay, to give exclusive attention. But you... you want me to go and conquer the world?"

Adam leaned in a bit closer to Damián, his gaze sparkling with a mix of challenge and curiosity. "You have courage, Damián. I like that. Maybe it's time I showed you what I can do."

As the tension between them intensified, Adam felt a wave of desire coursing through his body. He couldn't resist any longer, and in an instinctive move, he turned towards Damián and enveloped him in a passionate, ravenous kiss. Their lips met in a sensual dance, their tongues intertwining in a frenzied exchange of pleasure.

Damián responded with the same intensity, his hands exploring Adam's body as their emotions merged in the heat of the moment. That kiss was all they needed at that instant, a moment of uncontrollable surrender and passion.

However, as the kiss continued, Damián began to feel trapped in Adam's strong, possessive hands. Despite the consuming desire between them, an uncomfortable sensation started to arise within him. He struggled to break free, but Adam's hands seemed to envelop him like tentacles, impossible to untangle.

Amidst the turbulence of emotions, Damián realized that even though it was Adam, this moment wasn't what he truly desired. It was thrilling, yes, but it wasn't the type of intimacy he yearned for. With one final effort, he managed to free himself from Adam's grip and quickly exited the car, leaving behind a confused and bewildered Adam.

Damián, with a mysterious smile, muttered to himself, "So, go conquer the world, Adam. However, he desired to create such a vast space between them that even the solar system would be envious."

Dazed, upon arriving home, Damian became aware of something unsettling: in reality, there were more rules imposed on omegas than on Alphas and betas. And Adam, in a way, signaled all the time, "That's just how things are, and there's no changing it."

But Damián wasn't the type of person to easily conform to the idea of protection mixed with submission. From the beginning, he questioned the basic rules of the game.

His mental script was entirely based on the reality he had experienced throughout his 48 years. He decided to ignore the pre-established story of that world. He had no respect for the script that had been assigned to him.

The next day, Damián was immersed in thoughts of dissatisfaction as he sipped his coffee in the gallery, waiting for the meeting with Finley McDermott and his agent. While reflecting on his life, he realized that love stories in books followed certain rules established by their creators.

These rules were unbreakable; they were part of the hero's journey. One of those rules stated that no protagonist attains true love without enduring suffering. It was as if a dark cloud hung solely over the protagonist, testing their determination and strength.

The protagonist must be the object of scorn and sometimes treated like a dog. Or worse, they must go through the baptism of pain! In the end, the protagonist must descend to the depths of despair. To emerge from the depths!

But he, like the villain, will have to descend even further, until reaching hell. Villains are like submarines, they can float, but they were made to sink.

As Damián contemplated the cocktail of confusion, his life had become...

An elegant car, black as the night, stopped in front of the Stonehenge Gallery. The engine shut off, interrupting Elizabeth's thoughts. The car door opened smoothly, revealing a woman of magnetic presence.

Elizabeth Kadman, with her flowing dark hair, was a vision of sophistication and elegance. Her blue eyes shimmered with determination as she emerged from the car. Dressed in an impeccable tailored suit, perfectly accentuating her elegant curves, she exuded an aura of authority and class.

As she walked towards the gallery, the sound of her high heels echoed on the pavement, adding a sophisticated rhythm to her presence. The subtle perfume that enveloped her body left a seductive trail in the air, a blend of floral and woody notes.

Gallery visitors turned their heads as she passed by, attracting looks of admiration and respect. Her upright and confident posture made it clear that she was a woman of influence and power.

Upon entering the gallery, Elizabeth headed to the reception desk, where an attendant greeted her with a respectful smile. Her intense blue gaze surveyed the surroundings, absorbing every detail of the artworks around her.

With a calm and firm voice, she asked, "Could you please inform me where I can find Damian? I have an important matter to discuss with him."
