Chapter 23 - TRUE IDENTITY

Author had explained everything concerning a dedicated follower but he left out the part that he had a system.

To his supprise, the princess was very happy about it.

" I had been training so hard but I was not getting any better while my siblings were growing everyday in everyway. My father don't like me that much too and I have become a laughing stock among my siblings. But with this new strength and ability that you promise, I will be able to grow again." The princess said happily.

" For now your abilities cannot fully function because we need to get a crystal wich is found in this palace, so I will need your help." Said Author.

" In this palace?"

" Yes it is found at an underground secret room. All I need you to do is to find it's location and the key."

" I don't really associate myself with my father or step sisters and brothers.

I am the only one whose mom is dead so I am being treated like shit, you should know I am on my own.

As for my father, he is so secretive that I can't even get any information from him. So I don't think I will be of much help." Said Kora.

" But you will try right? There must be a way." Said Author.

Princess Kora thought for sometime before speaking.

" I will try my best. Right now my father must be busy, I will meet him tonight when he is free."

With this said, they came to an agreement and went to their rooms.

--

It was night time and the princess had assumed that by this time, the king must have been through with all his activities for the day and must have retired to his chamber.

So she left the room and headed for her father's chamber. The princess moved ever so gentle while approaching her dad's chambers. As she moved closer, the echoes from voices could be heard from the chamber and Kora could pick out that it was her father and his most trusted men discussing.

There were no guards outside the door meaning it was a private discussion so the guards were sent away.

The princess knew that if anyone is caught eaves dropping on the king's private conversation, there was a dreadful penalty, so she decided that it would be best if she waited some distance away.

As Kora stood there waiting at a distance wich she presumed to be a safe place not to hear the king's conversation, to her supprise she could hear everything that was being said clearly as if she was in that room.

She wondered what was happening before she then remembered the strange mark that Author had left on her upper arm.

' I must say my senses and perception are getting better since Author placed this mark on me, it is very incredible.' Kora thought as she listened to the king's conversation.

" Your Majesty, more of these strange beast have been seen all over the kingdom and some even claim they saw humanoid beigns."

" Hmm I see, but that should not be the most pressing issue now since it is not directly affected the main castle. For now all we need to do is to search for the rest fragments of This crystal.

This crystal is greater than any problem that could ever occur. Can't you feel the power coming from it?

We already have nine kingdoms under our control I think it's best to seek for more power and extend this empire."

" My king another issue to address is about the shadow disease. It is killing it's victims instead of making them stronger."

" About that, I have chosen a village where we can do a mass test on them. If it goes well, we could pick out the survivors and add to our army."

" And wich village is that my king?"

" It's a small village found at the of the northern part of the forest."

Kora had heard everything the king had been discussing with his assistants and she could not believe herself.

' So my father is the responsible for the shadow disease? And they are planning to use slaves and even an entire village like lab rats just to fulfill their selfish aims? Unbelievable, I never knew my father could go down such paths.' Kora thought in disbelief.

The meeting seemed to have ended because the king's trusted men were leaving his chamber.

Kora left her hiding spot and headed back.

Author was laying on his bed when he a knock on the door and next the door opened and it was princess Kora.

" I have good news and bad news." She said.

" Start with the good news." Author replied.

" The good news is that I have discovered where the crystal is kept at the moment and the bad news is that it is being kept where it is impossible to get, the king's chambers.

It is one of the most highly guarded places in this castle." When Author heard this he wasn't supprise because he already predicted that something of that sort was to be considered of high value and kept well secured.

Author was thinking about what to do next when he noticed Kora was in deep thoughts and from the expression from her face, something was troubling her, so Author decided to ask her about it.

The princess hesitated for sometime before she Finally spoke.

" At first I thought my father never had time for me because he was too busy with important matters or maybe it was I who had done something wrong.

But I was so wrong. Today, I have discovered that my father is not really who I think he is. He has so many dark secrets that he had been hiding and is still hiding.

The slaves, the constant wars and many other violent things are now starting to make sense.

I wonder why my step brothers are fighting to sit on such an evil throne." She explained.

" Why are you saying this, did you see or hear something?" Author asked.

The princess kept quiet for sometime before she decided to explain everything that she heard from the king's conversation to Author.

" Noo, I can't let anything happen to that peaceful village. They are all peaceful people. I must do anything to stop the test even if it means I have to break into the king's chamber." Author said with a determined look after hearing Kora's narration.
