Cadin peered out through the bush, seeing the camp in the distance. The soldiers and tribe leader stood behind him crouched down, having finished their stop at the nearby tribe camp to keep their plunder.
Wooden walls surrounded the camp with simple tall watchtowers, all manned by archers, already observing the area.
"Best of luck to you." The leader patted him on the back.
Cadin stared for a minute at the archers and the camp itself. Tents lay past the wooden walls, soldiers already walking around, carrying bows and short swords.
Cadin began running out of cover, trying to reach the walls as fast as he could.
Halfway close to the wall, an archer spotted the lone soldier charging straight at them, yelling out to the others to begin firing arrows.
The silence was broken by whistling arrows, striking hard into the ground around Cadin, a few struck him but the wounds simply healed as he tore off the arrows.
His hands grabbed onto the walls, still being assaulted by hails of arrows, he began climbing up the wall.
He jumped down just as he got to the very top, soldiers stood all around, carrying their weapons, all staring at him.
"Kill him!" The battle instantly began, his sword struck the soldiers on the ground, the archers on the top continued firing at the agile man, slowly depleting the arrows they had remaining.
A massacre ensued down below as the studded armor wearing fighters were cut down by the man. The last soldier fell to the ground, lifeless. Cadin looked up towards a tower, just as he did, arrows began slamming into his body, breaking through his armor. Cadin ran towards one of the bodies carrying a bow, he tore off the corpse's quiver, placing it on his back.
Jumping into a tent, away from the archers' line of fire, Cadin prepared to use his new weapon, slowly drawing the arrow on the string. As he prepared to fight back, an immense sense of nostalgia struck him, memories of his past came flooding once again, of him using bows and crossbows.
He jumped out, feeling the experience of using a bow from his past flow into his hands. As they fired on him, he fired back, striking the archers from where they stood, a few arrows managed to slam into his back and chest as the battle concluded.
He opened the gate of the camp seeing the leader and soldiers waiting outside of it.
"Excellent, perhaps that deal will really go through with the tribe. The last camps rest near a large river, it blocks us and possibly your tribe's access to the waters filled with fish. Your tribe may find a specialty in fishing, similar to our skill of mining and forging." The leader spoke while walking inside the camp with Cadin.
After taking what they could carry, the group left, all carrying crates nearly filled with scavenged weapons and armor.
A few minutes of walking and returning, finally, they arrived at the river. two camps stood next to each other, soldiers outside threw nets and fishing lines into the running current. The river was large with the other side at a great distance from where they stood, anything on it looking blurry.
"This will be the final attack we will perform, after that you may return with escorts to your home." The leader said.
"Go ahead and good luck."
The camp was fortified well with tall logs supported by poles and rope around the entire camp, the entrance was simply an open square pathway to the inside. Crates stood in the open holding fish and other sea life. The soldiers wore a mix of steel plates and studded armor, carrying axes to normal swords as they patrolled the perimeter and helped in hauling more fish.
Cadin stepped out, but instead of running, he advanced forward towards the camp, still holding onto the bow and quiver he took.
As he moved, he aimed his bow at a standing soldier looking at the field. Pulling the string back, he released it. The arrow flew fast in the air, meeting its mark on the chest of the soldier before he could spot Cadin.
He entered inside the camp, holding his sword for combat. In seconds, the warriors shouted loudly, charging towards him with what weapons they could grab. Cadin slashed through the soldiers, killing as much as possible for the battle to end quickly.
While he fought inside the camp, soldiers from the other camp rushed inside, soon he was surrounded with soldiers on both sides.
His blade tore through more soldiers, becoming more and more covered in the blood of Cadin's enemies.
The last soldier fell to the ground, gripping his shoulder in pain as it bled. "Wait please! I surrender! I yield." He pleaded, Cadin lowered his sword, seeing the man unarmed and no longer a threat.
He breathed a sigh of deep relief, now finished with his task. Soldiers and the leader entered inside, seeing Cadin with the injured man, he looked to be young, new to combat.
"Spectacular work, this river should provide some possibilities to you and your people." The man on the ground was hoisted up, quickly taken away by one of the soldiers. The place smelled of fish and other meats, all in open crates placed anywhere inside the camp.
"We shall uphold our part of the deal and send the metals, along with escorting you back to your people. For now, just help us carry it back to the camp." The leader finished speaking, heading to one of his men to help carry the crates.
Soon they grabbed everything from the camp, mostly food among other tools they could stack.
With everything taken, the group headed off, leaving the corpses of the dead where they lay.
The sun was already closer to the bottom of the horizon, but still provided bright light.
"Excellent, just before the night and even before dawn." The leader pointed out.
