Chapter 31 - •Thirty-one•

Philippa was dressed in a brown dress with brown shoes and a brown fedora. It was her Name Day, and she was on her way to her parents' graves. Bardulf still hadn't arrived and her heart was now frozen in numb mourning for her family. She could not and would not think about her husband, not when the day called for more depressing thoughts.

Varg and the other three were behind her, silent and protective. It was an unusual sight since the Queen and her guard were usually smiling and joking around. However, now, as everyone glanced their way, the sight was gloomy and tense.

Jaqueline was watching from her window at her best friend and sighed, knowing each year, this was what happened. It was harsh for Philippa and while the Princess didn't know the whole story, she knew that Philippa blamed herself.
