They arrived in front of a special glass wall that could ward off radiation waves, bullets, and explosions.
Inside, five scientists in protective suits were working with wires stuck to their hands. The wires were connected to the robotic arms in a glass room.
The woman named Jenn pressed the button of a small box that was attached to the glass wall. Then, she brought her face closer to it.
"Mr. Wallnest, someone wants to see you. He'll wait here until you're done,"
The moustachioed man, who looked to be in his 40s, looked back. Jenn pointed at the man standing beside her. Then, he nodded.
"I will leave you here. His name is Mr. Steven Wallnest. You can wait here and don't go anywhere or touch anything."
"Sure," Rohan replied.
Without further ado, the woman named Jenn turned and walked away. Like other scientists, she walked so quickly.
"They are human but don't look like humans. Are scientists actually robots inside?" Rohan muttered.
While waiting, he kept an eye on the five scientists working in the room. He couldn't hear their conversation because of the special glass wall that separated them.
However, just from their gestures, he could tell that the man named Wallnest would likely be the first scientist candidate for his mission.
Before long waiting, the group of scientists finished their work, and exited the glass room.
"Please wait a moment. I have to take off my protective suit," said the man named Stevan Wallnest.
Rohan smiled faintly. "Of course,"
Assisted by his juniors, Mr. Wallnest took off the white protective suit. After brushing his moustache for a moment, he approached a man who was clearly not a human.
Seeing Mr. Wallnest who stepped towards him, Rohan extended his hand in a friendly manner. "I am Eric Sky. I'm working with the police to do a little investigation on energy source research."
"Jenn should have told you that my name is Stevan Wallnest, leader of the energy research team." The man replied as he returned the man's handshake. "And you… are a helomus,"
"You are right. I am Helomus who works for the police." Rohan replied.
"So, since this isn't the usual routine investigation, what can I do for you?" Mr. Wallnest asked.
"I'm assigned to check the latest object being studied at the moment and some things that might relate to it. Can you help me with it yourself or do we have to get help from your colleague?" Rohan asked.
Mr. Wallnest chuckled. "If you weren't the new guy, I might be offended by your question. I know everything here, even those that are not related to my speciality,"
Rohan's smile widened. "Well, pleased to hear that. That way, I don't have to bother looking for the greatest one here, do I?"
Mr. Wallnest frowned with an astonished smile on his moustache-roofed lips. "You are quite a strange policeman. But since you are a Helomus, I will not comment,"
Then Mr. Wallnest invited Rohan into a room. That was his office, where he kept all his research data.
"I'll let you check or even copy the raw data as usual. What else do you need?" Asked Mr. Wallnest as he sat in his chair.
"Besides your team, are there any other teams doing energy research or anything related to it?"
"Well..." Mr. Wallnest seemed to think for a moment. "If anything, it's probably a team that works with inventors to develop energy management machines. But they are not on this planet."
"Are they as good as you?"
"Hey…" The man chuckled. "Everyone has their part. There is nothing smallest or greater, neither with intelligence."
'You talk too much, old man,' Rohan said inwardly.
"So, was that an answer? I honestly didn't expect that words of wisdom would answer my serious question." Rohan smiled wryly.
"In this team, I am the leader. All scientists in this building, this city, and on this planet actually have the same ability. In my opinion, leaders are chosen because they have more experience and match their character. So, it depends on what you are looking for. When it comes to energy, of course, I have more control over it than the nourishment team leader."
"Very well. I get it…" Rohan said, then continued to himself, 'that I will take you,'
"But, to be honest, I'm quite amazed by the scientists on the planet Urvarus. I've multiple times visited them, and their discoveries never cease to amaze me," Mr. Wallnest said half-mumbled.
"Planet Urvarus, huh?" Rohan muttered.
"Your data box, please?" Mr. Wallnest raised his palm to Rohan.
Rohan turned to the man. Then he gave him his police gadget.
"Son, you better not be joking around now. I still have works to do," Mr. Wallnest said.
"Whatever it is, I don't have it. I only brought this thing," Rohan said.
"You asked for our data, but you didn't bring the data box? I can't believe someone with this kind of recklessness could work for a special police team," the man said.
A smile grew on Rohan's lips. He moved his head slightly. "He cannot,"
The bang on the glass door of the energy resources team leader's room made everyone outside it turn their heads. They looked at the room that had frosted glass walls and noticed the thin silhouette of a person that seemed to stick to the wall.
The room was soundproof, so they could only guess what was going on from the brief silhouette.
"What is Mr. Wallnest doing?" Jenn muttered.
"Isn't he with the helomus police inside?" Scott asked.
"I have a bad feeling. Should we check it out?" Jenn said.
"You told me to?" Scott pointed to himself.
"Should I do it?" Jen rolled her eyes.
"No, you shouldn't, lady…" Scott snorted before taking a step toward Mr. Wallnest's room.
However, when Scott had only taken two steps, the glass door was suddenly hit by something from inside and shattered.
Screams of surprise responded to the loud sound of breaking glass. Then Mr. Wallnest seemed to have come out of his room, but in a condition of both hands chained in front and his neck wrapped in a long chain held by a purple-eyed man.
The shock of all the scientists was nothing compared to the two women who had let the police in. No, he was not police. He was a villain disguised as a policeman!
