Chapter 17
Andrew Bailiwick eyed the briefcase from his suite on the 98th floor. He had no idea what it was but it took his curiosity unlike nothing else he had ever seen. He had already opened it up and was greeted by a screen with an ominous green glow as well as a keyboard whose keys also emitted a green glow. He wanted nothing more than to strike the key with his fingers but thought well against it. He needed to know what it was and for all he was concerned, it could have been a bomb rigged to explode after being tampered with.
Shaking those thoughts away, he lifted the case from his bed and opened the drawer of his bedside table to reveal a digital safe. Punching in the code, the door opened just slightly and he had to widen the gap so that he could slide the briefcase through and shut the door.
After that was done he closed the drawer and went about the luxurious bedroom and off for the kitchen in his good colored bathrobe. He exited the room and found his two trusted bodyguards standing on both sides of the door.
"Do you guys ever relax?" Andrew frowned at them but they just stood even more attentive, "uh why do I even bother?"
Andrew went to the kitchen. It was a well laid out room with a marble stone kitchen island that sparkled with the morning light, the floor tiles were golden colored. The place was spotless, just the way he prefers it. As he made his way to the coffee maker, he thought hard about the briefcase and what secrets it holds but he would have to keep the curiosity on hold until the next day because today he was going to prepare for the party he was hosting later that night and he wanted to be just right.
Being a billionaire in a city like New York was great and what was even greater than that was to have everything well organized to the most of his liking, well that's what Andrew thought anyway.
Taking a sip from his mug he navigated his way to the living room which like the kitchen was luxurious as well with expensive white leather couches and a 75 inch flat screen TV hanging from the wall as well as a chandelier hanging from above.
What not to like, Andrew thought as he set himself down on the couch. He turned on the TV and went straight to the news channel which showed headlines of a shooting in a Manhattan neighborhood somewhere. It seems there were several bodies found and the owner of the house was currently missing yet the cops where reluctant to disclose the identity of said owner.
Andrew just shrugged and changed to the sports channel.
